On this day, I stayed in Oimachi, so before checking in, I quickly had dinner at a previously considered restaurant, "Menichi Kitchou." It was said that the restaurant is run by an apprentice of the famous Shirakawa ramen shop, "Tora Shokudo." When I visited before, there was a line, but this time there was no line outside! The inside of the restaurant was full, but I only had to wait about 5 minutes before being seated. The restaurant has only 7 counter seats and 4 staff members in the kitchen. I ordered the "Chuka Soba" for 700 yen. The toppings included komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), menma (bamboo shoots), naruto (fish cake), roasted seaweed, and chashu (sliced pork). The soup was a light soy sauce color with a slightly oily layer of chicken oil on top. The pork bone and chicken broth-based soup was mild, with a light soy sauce flavor. The homemade noodles were made from blue bamboo and had a chewy texture due to the high water content, which was really good. The volume was decent as well. The unevenly cut noodles allowed the soup to cling to them perfectly, making it incredibly delicious. The chashu had a flavorful sauce and a crispy, savory taste. The menma had a crunchy texture, and the komatsuna added a subtle bitterness as an accent. The seaweed melted nicely into the soup. The noodles and soup here are truly exceptional. It's on a high level even among Tokyo's Shirakawa ramen shops. I would like to try the lunch service's one-coin rice bowl next time. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to eat meat, so I ordered the Char Siu Ramen for 1000 yen. The Char Siu was thicker than I expected and I was so excited to eat it! The noodles were also delicious - they were flat and had a nice chewiness that worked well with the soup. I went on a weekday around 2pm and there was a line, so it seems like a popular place.

I heard that you can eat Shirakawa Ramen in Oimachi, so I entered the restaurant. They use homemade noodles made from bamboo. The hand-made noodles are relatively thin. The appearance is like ramen from the Showa era. The soup is also from the Showa era – it's light and refreshing, but lacks richness and umami, so it might not be satisfying as a dinner. I was happy with the two slices of chashu.

2023.9.21 2023-437 Handmade Chinese noodles with green bamboo at Menichi Kiccho ◎ Roasted pork noodles with lunch service Spicy natto rice 1110 yen (1000 yen + 110 yen) Payment is made afterwards. I had some business near Kiccho, so I visited for the first time in a long time. The soy sauce soup had a nostalgic and gentle taste, with slightly firm hand-kneaded thick noodles. The toppings included seaweed, narutomaki, chopped green onions, and menma, and the seaweed was particularly good. The chashu was the kind with a red edge, mainly lean but delicious. The spicy natto rice was mixed before serving, and it was delicious. I would like to try the negi soba next time. Thank you for the meal. ☺️ #Ramen #Tsukemen #HandmadeChineseNoodlesGreenBambooMenichiKiccho #RamenMemo #Noodlestagram #ShinagawaTokyo #ExperimentNoodleLift #ChashuLift

I didn't know this restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and only open for lunch on weekends. When I arrived at 12 o'clock, the restaurant was full with 7 people already waiting in line. I was able to enter on the second round of waiting. The seating style is at the counter with 7 people sitting quietly in a row. I had the Chinese noodles and my companion had the seafood noodles. I also tried the natto rice that comes with the lunch set. The chashu was refreshing and delicious, and the soup had a stronger flavor than it looked. The appearance was deceiving as it was actually quite rich. I was happy to see the naruto and bamboo shoots. The komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) was also good. The noodles were delicious, and overall, the ramen had a visual that was appetizing. It was delicious.

I had some business in Oimachi, so I stopped by this restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. I arrived around 12:30, there were 6 people waiting outside, and I was seated in about 20 minutes. The food arrived 5 minutes after I sat down. You order after being seated and pay at the end. Since it was my first visit, I ordered the Wan Tan Men with plenty of ingredients. The sign at the restaurant said "Aote Hiradachi Men", but the flat, curly noodles in the soup were delicious. The Wan Tan was also small-sized, about 5 pieces, and I felt quite full after finishing the meal. The prices were reasonable compared to other recent restaurants, and the cost performance was excellent. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area. Thank you for the meal.

Title as it is, it was simply delicious ramen. I have never encountered this quality in Tokyo. Oimachi and Kamata have been my regular accommodations for over 10 years when I travel to Tokyo. The official reason is "easy access to anywhere," but the real reason is "because you can eat delicious food." I had been curious about Yoshikatsu, but had never had the opportunity to visit. I was lured into the restaurant by the sign for Aotake Hirauchi Chuka Soba. Even though it was past 8:00 PM, I managed to secure the last seat and ordered the Chuka Soba. It took a little while, but in about 10 minutes, it was served. First, I took a sip of the soup. It was light yet had a subtle savory soy sauce flavor and a refined taste of dashi. Next, I slurped the noodles. The thick curly noodles were perfectly coated with the soup, offering a good balance of firmness and smoothness. As a side note, why do Japanese people slurp noodles? While it may be considered bad manners globally or compared to the sound of flushing a toilet, personally, I believe that slurping noodles allows you to fully experience the aroma, steam, and flavors of noodle dishes, engaging in the unique Japanese cultural practice of "seasoning in the mouth." If you try eating without slurping, you will notice the difference. Despite the digression, it was a very satisfying bowl with good value for money.

Oimachi lunch revenge! Last time I had fried rice, so this time I went to the popular restaurant Yoshikatsu in Oimachi to try their ramen. I missed the first round, but I entered around 11:40 for the second round and ordered the Char Siu Ramen and minced meat rice. The dishes arrived promptly, and the ramen looked beautiful with plenty of char siu. I took a sip of the soup, delicious... but it felt a bit lacking. However, when I added a little grated garlic from the table, it was perfect. The flat noodles could have been a bit chewier for my taste. Well, everyone has different preferences when it comes to taste. Oh, and the minced meat rice for 110 yen as a lunch special is such a great deal! Thank you for the meal!

Visited on Saturday around 2 pm. Had to wait for 6 people ahead of me. Got seated in 25 minutes. It's a first-come, first-served style. Felt like even if you're in a group, you have to enter one by one. Ordered the Chinese ramen. The soup was light with low salt content. Even for someone who doesn't like salty food like me, it felt a bit too light. The noodles were transparent and smooth. The bamboo shoots were soft with less crunch. The price was surprisingly only 700 yen, but it felt like a 700 yen meal.

I started going there about once a month. The taste is still as delicious as ever. The soup is delicate and the hand-made curly noodles have a firm yet smooth texture. The boiled egg is also delicious. At 700 yen plus 100 yen, it is quite reasonable for a ramen specialty shop these days. Thank you for the meal.

After eating unadon, I discovered a ramen shop nearby that caught my interest, so I decided to stop by. I ordered the Chuka Soba for 700 yen and a small bottle of beer, totaling 1,230 yen. It might be the most reasonable price I've seen for ramen recently! The noodles were slightly flat and curly. The chashu was two slices, with a reddish exterior. It also had naruto, which brought back memories of eating similar ramen at a local Chinese restaurant when I was a child. The flavor was mild and gentle. I finished every last drop of the soup, and it was delicious. The shop is just a few minutes from the nearest station and has only about 6 counter seats. The space from the seats to the back door is quite narrow, but I found it surprisingly relaxing. The beer and glass were nice and cold. Payment is made after eating. I would recommend this place for enjoying nostalgic old-fashioned Chuka Soba at a reasonable price. No smoking allowed.

First of all, please note that there are only 7 seats at the counter, so be careful when visiting with a group. I went with high expectations based on reviews, but the taste was a bit disappointing. The noodles were made of rare green bamboo and were flat and twisted. The photo shows the regular soy sauce ramen, which is quite reasonable at 700 yen. Taste: The soy sauce ramen had a traditional chicken oil flavor, but it didn't meet my expectations. Cost performance: It's quite affordable for this price in Tokyo.

I stopped by Yoshitake on my way home from work. I arrived around 7pm on a weekday and there was only one person waiting ahead of me, so I was able to enter the restaurant quickly. I ordered the wonton noodles (900 yen) as soon as I sat down, and it arrived in about 10 minutes. The dish included 5 wontons, 2 slices of char siu, seaweed, bamboo shoots, and spinach. The noodles were flat and made of chewy bamboo, which I personally liked. The soup was a clear chicken broth with a strong soy sauce flavor, which was very delicious. Although I had been to Oimachi many times, it was my first time visiting this place. I regret not going sooner. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely visit again.

Arrived at 12:10 pm. There were 7 people waiting in front of the store. Since there are only 7 counter seats, you have to wait for one round before you can eat, but luckily you can wait in the shade. The name "Men Ikkyu Kachou" is written on the orange noren, but the sign above saying "Aotake Hirau Chiuka Soba" stands out more. Waited for 20 minutes and finally entered the store. The ratio of regular customers to first-time visitors seemed to be about half and half. Everyone was ordering the Chinese soba for 700 yen plus the service lunch for 110 yen, but since this store makes their noodles, I imagined that even the gyoza skin would be homemade, so I ordered the Chinese soba with gyoza for 420 yen. After a while, the pork bone and chicken bone soy sauce-flavored Chinese soba arrived. The noodles had a good texture and were satisfying to eat. The simple flavor without any unnecessary additions was good. The gyoza, as I had imagined, was a plump homemade gyoza with a chewy skin just like the Chinese soba. The gyoza may seem a bit expensive, but isn't the Chinese soba quite reasonably priced? Maybe the secret to their affordability lies in the appearance of the store. I rarely line up to eat, but today it was worth the wait. Thank you for the meal!

I finally went to a restaurant I've been wanting to visit for a while. I arrived around 1:30pm on a weekday and was able to be seated without waiting. The soup for the char siu ramen was a mild soy sauce base with a mix of pork and chicken. It had a nostalgic taste to it. The noodles were chewy and the char siu was delicious. It felt like the perfect meal to have with a beer. The spicy natto rice was simple yet tasty. The portion in the set was just right, equivalent to one bowl of rice. Thank you for the meal.

I am currently at Menichi Kiccho in Oimachi on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 7:54 pm. At this moment, the restaurant is ranked 3.75 on Tabelog's TOP5000 list. There are 4 customers ahead of me, and the 7 seats in the restaurant are all occupied, with 3 staff members working. The restaurant is a bit stuffy despite the time, and even waiting outside is quite challenging. I had just visited Mita Jiro earlier, but they had run out of soup, so I decided to come here. I underestimated Mita Jiro. It seems the excitement of the Koshien Tournament with Keio University made me impulsively come to Mita, which was a mistake. I will try again later. It seems like the timing is off, as the customers inside the restaurant are not leaving. The wait is quite long. The restaurant has a traditional Japanese atmosphere, and I wonder if it will be okay during a typhoon. I searched while waiting and found out that the chef here used to work at Torashokudo in Shirakawa, a renowned restaurant. It's common knowledge that there are famous restaurants scattered all over the country. I doubt I will ever visit Torashokudo, but I would like to try it at least once. Even Hakata ramen, which is considered the original, was incredibly delicious. Even the main branch of nationwide chain Ichiran was delicious. Oh, it's my turn now. I entered the restaurant at 8:11 pm and ordered the Chuka Soba for 700 yen. There is no background music in the restaurant, creating a quiet atmosphere. The Chuka Soba arrived at 8:21 pm. It has a refreshing pork and chicken-based broth with a clear taste. The flat twisted noodles are surprisingly delicious. The firm and bouncy noodles, paired with this broth, have an excellent harmony. The soup has a distinct umami flavor. The chashu has a flavorful sauce and a satisfying texture. Oh, I haven't seen Naruto in ramen for a long time. It doesn't affect the taste, but it reminds me of the ramen that Koike-san from the anime Ramen-loving Koike-san used to eat. The komatsuna is ordinary, but the ramen is delicious. The regular customers who come and go keep adding toppings. Next time, I'll add more toppings too. If I were to describe it like a Power Pro status, it would be Power B - a taste that most people would enjoy, and Contact C - there is a clear umami flavor. Speed C - it's easily accessible for both office workers and residents in Jonan. Arm Strength C - perhaps due to age, it's not something to get too excited about. The waiting time after ordering is a bit long. It's not a top 100 restaurant, but there seem to be factors other than taste that contribute to its popularity. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

White River Ramen's super famous restaurant, Tora Shokudo's lineage. There are not many places in Tokyo where you can eat White River Ramen, and even fewer that are considered delicious. One of the highly regarded White River Ramen restaurants in Tokyo is here. It was founded 20 years ago. The atmosphere is outstanding, as it is located in one of the top deep drinking districts in Tokyo. Just arriving in front of the restaurant is exciting. I arrived at 11:35 on a weekday and there were 9 people waiting outside. Despite the scorching hot summer day, the front of the store is shaded due to the narrow alley, which is a small relief. It took exactly 30 minutes to enter the store, and another 10 minutes to receive the ramen. Today's order was Wonton Ramen ¥900, Char Siu 1 piece ¥100. The default is 2 pieces of Char Siu, and the default price is ¥700... so cheap! Let's dig in. The gentle soup, which seems to be based on chicken broth, combined with soy sauce with reduced saltiness. The umami slowly spreads in the mouth. Delicious, and even more gentle. Whenever I eat White River Ramen, I always wonder why it is so gentle. Although it has the same composition as regular soy sauce ramen, based on chicken broth and soy sauce, why is White River Ramen so mellow and gentle? Despite being gentle, there is a moderate oil film on the surface, adding a moderate umami flavor. The noodles are medium-thick, hand-cut, springy noodles. They are firm and have a chewy and mochi-like elasticity, which is delicious. The Char Siu is labeled as roasted pork, not simmered pork. It has a smoky, fragrant taste like hanging-roasted pork. It is juicy, tender enough to be easily bitten, but still has a moderate meaty texture, making it delicious. The wonton is a bit strange. It is a type without filling, but usually this type is supposed to have a chewy and silky texture, but these wontons have a firm and sticky texture. Some people must like this texture. It was a super high-quality bowl of ramen. It is so gentle that you can eat it at any time. The only criticism I have is that the garnished naruto and komatsuna were hidden right under the Char Siu, so the beautiful colors were not visible (laughs). I would like to come back again soon. Thank you for the meal.

Today's ramen is from Oimachi, "Menichi Kitchou". I went bar hopping in the downtown area for a short time. I stuck to the rule of one dish per restaurant with no seating charge, and ended with ramen. I recently enjoyed Kitakata ramen in Fukushima Prefecture, but this one is in the lineage of Shirakawa ramen. I have a health check-up tomorrow, so I wanted something light. It's a futile attempt with no real meaning... I was torn between the "Chuka soba (700 yen)" and the "Chinatown soba with seafood (750 yen)" on the menu, but since it was my first visit, I chose the standard Chuka soba. After a 10-minute wait, it was brought to me. "How does it taste?" First, the soup. I scooped up a mouthful with a spoon and sipped it. It's just average... The soup base is made from animal ingredients, but it's quite ordinary. The noodles are the worst, all mushy. It feels like there's a problem with the way they were kneaded rather than boiled. The noodles lack firmness and seem poorly made. The chashu is thick, but the meat quality is poor, lacking a meaty flavor. The soup, noodles, and chashu are all disjointed, making it a disappointing ramen. However, for 700 yen, getting two pieces of chashu, komatsuna, naruto, and nori is a great effort. The restaurant seems to have survived on a reputation greater than its actual quality, perhaps due to its nostalgic Showa-era charm in a back alley.

[Genre] Ramen Shoyu (Shirakawa Ramen) TOP5000 [Location] 5-6-6 Higashi-Oi, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo Nearest Station: Oimachi Station (JR, Tokyu Oimachi Line) (3 minutes walk from the west exit) It is located along a small alley off the main street in front of the station. This restaurant always has a long line even before it opens. On Mountain Day holiday, I peeked into the shop from the street and saw only two groups waiting, so I was lucky to line up. I waited for less than 10 minutes before entering. This shop is a popular spot in Oimachi, following in the footsteps of the famous Shirakawa Ramen shop "Tora Shokudo". [Order] Char Siu Ramen + Nitamago (seasoned boiled egg) + Soboro Rice Soup: A refreshing, clear chicken-based soy sauce soup. The sharpness of the soy sauce is balanced by the richness and sweetness of the animal-based soup, making it smooth and delicious! Noodles: Flat curly noodles. They have a chewy, springy texture that mixes well with the soup. The difference from Sano Ramen is unclear. ^^ Char Siu: Char siu that covers the noodles. It is not dry at all when you chew on it, but juicy! It may not be described as tender, but you can taste the crispy meat's flavor, which is delicious! Others: Seasoned boiled egg, bamboo shoots, green onions, seaweed *If you have room in your stomach, I highly recommend trying the Soboro Rice, which is a bit more affordable during lunch service. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal!

In a small shop with only a counter in the alley, the purely Japanese-style interior has an atmosphere that feels somewhat traditional. The White River Ramen has firm, bouncy noodles that feel good in the throat. The soup, perhaps due to the chicken oil, is strong in flavor and delicious, but the smell may be a bit off-putting. The taste of the ramen here is not as light as some others, with a clear umami flavor in the soup. The chashu is two slices of red meat, maybe pork loin. It's firm, but I liked that it didn't overpower the soup. The menma is thinly sliced, matching the width of the noodles, allowing you to enjoy the texture along with the noodles. The noodles held up well in the soup and were quite good. I love Sano Ramen, but every now and then, a White River-style ramen might be nice too. Thank you for the meal, it was delicious. Despite the small seating area of only 7, they also serve beer and gyoza, so you might end up waiting a while depending on the timing. I was the fourth person in line and had to wait about 20 minutes. I read that the owner is from Tochigi (laughs). I wonder if there's a reason they serve two slices of chashu instead of three.
