南風直通
This day was a commemorative family dinner. My son turned twenty last month, so we decided to go out and have some drinks. Children grow up so fast. It feels like just yesterday he was born, just yesterday he started walking, just yesterday he started going to school. I always looked forward to the day when I could have a drink with my son, but it came so quickly. He chose to have eel for this special occasion. Quite a sophisticated choice. We made a reservation at "Unagi Toku" in Ginza Tokyu Plaza. It was my son, my wife, my daughter, and me - four of us. My son and I were the ones having drinks. The two women were eager to enjoy the eel to the fullest. When we arrived at the restaurant at the reserved time, we examined the menu. The family was ready to order the eel rice bowls right away, but I intervened. "Well, don't rush. At an eel restaurant, it's best to leisurely enjoy some appetizers with drinks first, and then finish with the eel rice bowl." We started our family feast with daikon and shirasu salad and eel rolls. I had a beer, and my son had white wine. It was nice. The white wine was a half bottle, equivalent to three glasses, for 1,622 yen. It was a Chardonnay grape variety that was easy to drink. We also ordered grilled eel, priced at 2,640 yen for a regular portion. We ordered liver skewers for the kids, priced at 880 yen per skewer. Luckily, we were able to order two skewers as they were often sold out. We continued to order various appetizers while waiting for the right moment to order the eel rice bowls. My son ordered the "special" one for 6,600 yen, my daughter ordered the "pine" one for 4,400 yen, and my wife and I each ordered the "regular" one for 2,970 yen. It was quite a lavish dinner. We also ordered red wine and recommended local sake in the excitement. The sight of four eel rice bowls lined up was magnificent. We thought it might be too much, but we all managed to finish them. The bill came to 34,586 yen. It was a wonderful celebration for my son's twentieth birthday. Tonight's feast was truly special. Thank you for the delicious meal!
