I stopped by a cake shop on the first floor of the hotel and saw a sign that said "kumo sold out." I found out that there is a limited quantity cake called kumo, and they distribute tickets before opening at 9:30 am. However, if you go right after opening around 11:00 am on weekdays, you have a good chance of buying it. The next morning, after breakfast, I went and was able to purchase it without any issues. I bought the following: - kumo Sakura: A cloud-shaped cake that fits the concept of the hotel on the high floors. It has a thick outer shell of about 1.5-2 mm of white chocolate, which is surprisingly hard. Inside, there is a fluffy mousse with berry flavors, cherry acidity, and a hint of sakura mochi scent. Personally, I found the acidity a bit strong, but it might be a matter of taste. The size is equivalent to two regular cakes and the white chocolate shell is quite heavy, but the visual presentation is excellent. - Shortcake: It is about 1.5 times the size of a regular shortcake with a mild sweetness and fluffy cream. The sponge is slightly sweet with large bubbles, moist but light. The strawberry acidity and texture are well balanced, making it quite delicious. - Mandarin Oriental Blend Iced Tea: A strong blend with bergamot and citrus aroma. It is supposed to be unsweetened, but the fragrance is so intense that it feels like it's mixed with mandarin orange juice. It might be better enjoyed on its own rather than as a cake accompaniment. Overall, I tried kumo Sakura this time, but they offer different variations based on the season, like chestnut-themed kumo in autumn. The cloud-shaped design fits well with the hotel's concept of overlooking the cityscape. However, the hard outer layer was a bit disappointing as it looked very soft. Since the Shortcake was unexpectedly delicious, I believe other cakes without the need for tickets are also worth trying. The hotel offers generous benefits for members, such as extended checkout time until around 2:00 pm and complimentary tea cakes like financiers and madeleines. Buying kumo at 11:00, having it for lunch, and enjoying it in the room before checkout turned out to be a nice experience.

I went shopping at the Mandarin Oriental Gourmet Shop on the first floor of the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo Hotel in Nihonbashi. It's a high-end hotel, but the shop doesn't feel intimidating, which is nice. The shop was selected as one of the top 100 sweets shops on Tabelog, but since it was still hot, I decided to buy bread instead of cake. I picked out a garlic focaccia for 432 yen and a mango roll bread and pavé from the roll bread selection for 172 yen each. The garlic focaccia had a strong aroma, even on the train (^-^;), but it smelled great. I remembered enjoying the mango roll bread when I had it at the hotel restaurant before, so I bought it. I lightly reheated it in the oven and it was still delicious. Next time, I definitely want to try their cakes.

One of the world's top luxury hotel shops is priced within reach, making it fantastic. The bread costs around 700-800 yen. You can also purchase unique brands and items selected from outside. But most of all, the famous cloud cake tends to sell out quickly, so it's best to get a ticket on weekends. I want to try it someday... When I went, they were already sold out so I couldn't get it. Instead, I bought my favorite financier. It was moist and delicious! Rich!

I had always been curious about the cloud cake at Mandarin Oriental, so when I happened to be in the area, I decided to stop by. Luckily, there was an open table, so I took the opportunity to try the cloud cake that I had been eyeing. The shape was incredibly cute, and the inside had a smooth texture with large cranberries that added a nice touch of acidity. While it may look cute, the taste is definitely in the realm of adult desserts. It's not just sweet, but offers a complex flavor profile. In addition to the cloud cake, they also offer a variety of seasonal cakes such as muscat and mango. I was torn between which one to try since they are both in season. The lineup of adult desserts is quite impressive. I definitely want to bring some as a gift next time.

I visited the gourmet shop at Mandarin Oriental located in front of Mitsukoshi. They have an open and spacious eat-in area, but mainly focus on takeout. I tried the Shine Muscat shortcake and the specialty KUMO. The prices are a bit high, but the portions are generous and satisfying. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited the top 100 sweets shop in 2023 around 6:20 PM on a Sunday. Since the last order for drinks was at 6 PM and the shop closed at 7 PM, there were not many customers or cakes left. The sponge cake with plenty of eggs and the tart tatin were both delicious, costing around 1000 yen each. I also want to try the Mont Blanc next time! Thank you for the meal.

Black tea is recommended, but I often order coffee. The red tea here is very famous and has a great aroma, it's delicious. However, I usually order coffee. The cakes are also delicious, but this time the mango was so-so. When it's crowded, there are times when you have to make a line in a place you don't understand well. Even if it's not cake, adding a piece of chocolate to the coffee is also recommended, it goes really well with coffee.

In the light rain, I went to Nihonbashi for the weekend. Mitsukoshi had a line forming before 9 am, but here, I arrived at 9:20 and there were about 5 people ahead of me. They distribute tickets at exactly 9:30. You can purchase up to 2 items per person. I passed the time at a cafe until it opened at 11 am. When the time came, I purchased the items and enjoyed them at home. My first impression was that they were small, but when I tasted them, I found that they were packed with rich chocolate cake coated in white chocolate. The sweet and sour blackberry flavor paired perfectly with it, and it was very delicious.

I made a phone reservation for a shortcake from Mandarin for my birthday. The phone service was excellent, just as expected from Mandarin! I ordered a 15-centimeter cake. This season's flavor is muscat! The cream was not too sweet and very delicious. I think this may be the best shortcake I've ever had. It felt like too much for 4 people, so a 12-centimeter cake might be enough.

I lined up for a KUMO dessert ticket before 11 am on Monday. Surprisingly, there were only two other people in line, so I thought I might be able to buy it in the morning. After having lunch, I visited around 2 pm and had to wait for about 30 minutes as the eat-in space was full. Today's KUMO®️EXOTIC dessert is made of white chocolate shaped like clouds, with vanilla mousse, tangy mango jelly, passion fruit cream, ginger-flavored banana confit, and coconut crunch inside. It has a very smooth and elegant taste without any sharp edges. It's definitely a dessert worth trying! ✨

On a Saturday evening, I visited after a long time and was surprised to see a variety of cakes still available. Usually, by this time, most cakes would have been sold out. I noticed two cakes that caught my eye: Amour D'ete for ¥972, which had a refreshing lychee jelly with ripe pineapple chunks in panna cotta, and Aqua Ruelle for ¥972, featuring lime blancmange with grape jelly and edible flowers for a beachside feel. Both cakes were visually appealing and delicious, perfect for a summer treat.

Mandarin Oriental Gourmet Shop is a sweets shop located a 3-5 minute walk from Mitsukoshimae Station. It is situated on the first floor of the 5-star hotel Mandarin Oriental and offers a variety of sweets and bread. It was selected as one of the top 100 sweets shops in Tokyo in 2022 and 2023. The exceptional customer service at this high-end hotel's shop makes you want to purchase something as soon as you walk in. I tried a box of 3 macarons this time - matcha, raspberry, and almond caramel. Despite being classic flavors, the macarons had a perfect balance of soft texture and rich cream, creating a distinctly delicious taste. The bitterness of matcha, the acidity of raspberry, and the sweetness of almond caramel each offered a different flavor profile, making it a well-balanced and enjoyable treat. This shop is very popular, with cakes and bread selling out quickly in the evening, so it's best to visit earlier in the day. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I was looking for a delicious cafe near Nihonbashi and came across this place. It's a stylish cafe on the first floor of Mandarin! The cloud cake is famous here, so I decided to try it. Had a tea time with the cloud cake! It was delicious. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

I arrived on a Saturday around 1:30 pm in the midst of the Bon Festival. The eat-in area of the shop was about 90% full. There were around 10 customers inside, creating a lively atmosphere. I purchased a nocciola bread for 380 yen and a coffee for 480 yen, and enjoyed them on the outdoor terrace. The concept shop at Mandarin Oriental had a nice atmosphere, and although the cloud-like object was surprisingly high, I chose the bread and was very satisfied with the experience. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely visit again. ^ ^

A self-cafe where you reserve a table and bring your own food. The indoor seating is limited with tables for two side by side, so there might be a short wait. There are also outdoor terrace seats with sofas, which seem nice when the weather is good. Right now, it's mango season, so most of the cakes feature mango and are delicious. In addition to cakes, they also offer bread, chocolates, and drinks, all of which are delicious. The hotel's original tea is said to be very good, so I'll try the iced tea next time. By the way, this cafe is famous for their cloud cakes.

In the sweltering heat of August 2023, there was a pleasant breeze between the buildings, making it possible to enjoy tea outside. This year's cakes featured a lineup focused on mango. The cute cakes lifted my spirits. This shop is always one of my favorite places to visit! ❤️✨

While passing through Nihonbashi, I decided to stop by Mandarin Oriental to enjoy some sweets. The first floor's "The Mandarin Oriental Gourmet Shop" is a renowned sweets shop listed in the top 100. I purchased "Croissants" and "Red Bean Croissants" as they also sell bread. I also ordered a "Mango Shortcake" and herbal tea to enjoy in the eat-in corner. The eat-in corner is a long space at the back of the shop, not very spacious but well-utilized and surprisingly cozy. The cream on the cake was not too sweet and very delicious, made with high-quality cream that wasn't heavy at all. The mango used was imported but sweet and fragrant, making the cake fantastic. Surprisingly, the light flavor didn't interfere with my upcoming meal plans an hour later. After having my meal and returning home, I enjoyed the purchased bread as a late-night snack. The Croissants had a great buttery flavor when toasted in the oven. The Red Bean Croissants had a refined sweetness that was truly delicious. Overall, the quality of the cakes was outstanding and very tasty. Since freshness is crucial for cakes, the eat-in option was a delightful service. The bread was also delicious, but for me, the allure of the cakes is irresistible. Nihonbashi and Mitsukoshi-mae are convenient for shopping and commuting, making this shop on the first floor of Mandarin Oriental very accessible. It's a great place!

During lunch, I saw a cake displayed in the showcase that caught my eye. After reading about it in a magazine, I suddenly felt the urge to eat it and decided to get it to go. The first one was a cake made of lychee jelly and coconut panna cotta, designed to look like the sea with crumble and chocolate forming a beach. It had cute shells and starfish on top, giving off a perfect summer vibe. The jelly had a slightly salty taste, maybe because it's supposed to be the sea, which might be a hit or miss for some people. The second one was a coconut chocolate shell filled with coconut cream and lime mousse. The lime was refreshingly sour, balancing well with the creamy flavor. Mandarine did not disappoint with these satisfying sweets.

The Mandarin Oriental Gourmet Shop @ Mitsukoshi-mae Selected as one of the top 100 sweets shops in Tokyo 2022 Order items: KUMO®︎ Exotic ¥2,200 Lime Coconut ¥1,265 Iced Coffee ¥528 * All prices are for dining in Personal rating: ★3.7 Introduction: Known for its unique cakes, this sweets shop is famous for its KUMO®︎ cakes. To get a KUMO®︎ cake, you need to get a numbered ticket, which is distributed every morning at 9:30. You can then pick up your cake between 11:00 and 15:00 on the same day. I arrived at the shop at 9:05 on a Saturday and joined the line as the second person. Even when it reached 9:30, there were only about 10 people in line, so it seems like you don't need to line up so early considering you can get two tickets per person. I returned to the shop around 13:50 and placed my order without waiting. You can choose to dine in or take away, but be aware that the cutlery for dining in is all paper and not very good quality. Taste impressions: - KUMO®︎ Exotic: A cake with a cloud-like appearance that is perfect for Instagram. The KUMO cake is actually a KUMO®︎ cake. It had a tropical fruit flavor, which changes seasonally. As of August 2023, it was an exotic cake with a passion fruit-scented vanilla mousse base, mango jelly, and a banana confit with a hint of ginger. The white chocolate and vanilla mousse were not overly sweet, with a refreshing fruit acidity and a subtle coconut and ginger aroma. This was delicious! - Lime Coconut: Another summer limited edition cake. The coconut-like appearance is made of chocolate and impressively detailed. The main flavor is coconut mousse, but it's not overpowering, with the pineapple confit on top and the lime cream at the bottom being dominant. A well-balanced taste. Delicious! Overall impression: These sweets are not just for show, they have authentic flavors that justify their higher price. While they may not be as Instagrammable as Masahiko Ozumi Paris in Temmabashi, Osaka, the taste is more authentic and personally, I preferred it. There's no need to line up early in the morning, and the waiting time is short, making it a must-try for sweets lovers. Whether you're looking for something to post on social media or just want to enjoy good desserts, I highly recommend it. #TheMandarinOriental #TheMandarinOrientalGourmetShop #Top100Sweets #Top100SweetsTokyo2022 #Gourmet #GourmetGram #Foodie #Sweets #SweetsGram #SweetsLovers #Cake #CakeLovers #CloudCake #KumoCake #Tokyo #TokyoGourmet #TokyoSweets #TokyoCake #Mitsukoshi-mae #Mitsukoshi-maeGourmet #Mitsukoshi-maeSweets #Mitsukoshi-maeCake #Japan #Tokyo #Gourmet #Sweet #Sweets #Cake #KumoCake

Next to Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi is the five-star hotel Mandarin Oriental, known for its cute cloud-shaped cake "KUMO®" at the pastry boutique. A must-buy when you visit here is the ham and cheese croissant. It's a classic item, but the one here is exceptionally delicious, making it a must-try for croissant lovers! When reheated with Balmuda, you get a crispy croissant generously filled with butter and Parmigiano, along with ham and what seems to be Comté cheese for a rich flavor. So delicious... And the new product, Sicilian Delight. A round croissant filled with white chocolate and crushed pistachios on the outside, and lemon cream inside. Oh, Sicilian delight... This one is also delicious. The lemon cream comes in two types, one with a strong acidity and the other with a hint of bitterness from the peel. The contrast with the sweetness on the outside is great. The roast beef sandwich with Iburi Gakko tartar sauce. It contains several slices of roast beef, and at 1,080 yen for takeout, it's quite reasonable. The presence of myoga in the tartar sauce (even in small amounts, you can taste it) and the slight smell in the beef at this price point are understandable. However, the croissant dough is incredibly delicious. With excellent service, unique flavors, and a touch of luxury, I love hotel boutiques, and this one is truly exceptional. Mandarin goes Oriental indeed. Oh, the power of vocabulary...

This place is famous for its cloud cakes. To buy a cloud cake, you need to get a numbered ticket starting at 9:30 in the morning. I had my friend line up early in the morning. We arrived around 9:00 on Saturday and were second in line. After having lunch, we decided to enjoy our cakes on the outdoor terrace. We ordered the following (tax included): - KUMO Exotic: 2,200 yen - Lime Coconut: 1,265 yen - Coffee (Iced): 528 yen - Mandarin Oriental Tokyo Blend Tea (Iced): 418 yen <KUMO Exotic> The filling is made with passion fruit, mango, banana, and other ingredients, resulting in a yellow-orange interior. I thought the mango and passion fruit flavors would be strong, but surprisingly, the ginger banana confit added a nice accent, making it quite delicious. <Lime Coconut> This cake has a unique appearance with coconut. The flavor is not overwhelmingly coconut, making it easy for anyone to enjoy. You can taste the lime's acidity while the chocolate on the outside harmonizes well. This cake was also delicious. <Mandarin Oriental Tokyo Blend Tea (Iced)> It had a refreshing taste, perfect for the hot summer as an iced tea. I was happy to finally try the cloud cakes that I had been curious about. The cakes are larger than they appear in photos, so sharing with someone would be a good idea. Aside from the cloud cakes, other cakes are cute in appearance and delicious in taste, so I recommend trying them out. There are few indoor seats, but the outdoor terrace has a nice open atmosphere.
