When you think of a steakhouse in Roppongi, Wolfgang's might come to mind, but there is another restaurant nearby that is just as amazing...! Upon opening the small door on the first floor of the building and descending the luxurious staircase leading to the basement, you will be greeted by a surprisingly spacious and lovely underground space. The interior exudes luxury with a color scheme of red, black, and gold. The atmosphere is so upscale that it really lifts your mood...! According to Tabelog, the dress code is smart casual and men are not allowed to wear shorts or sandals, but there were actually some customers dressed like that. Perhaps they are regulars. By the way, children are allowed during lunchtime on weekdays and weekends. A kids' plate is also available. We were seated in a semi-private sofa booth at the back. The sommelier also serves as part of the waitstaff, and their attentiveness and level of service were top-notch, making me a fan of this restaurant even before the food arrived.
On this day, I ordered the following:
◆ WEEKEND PRE-FIXED LUNCH (tax included 13,200 yen)
You can choose from 3 types of salad and soup each, and for the main course, there are 5 options: salmon, tuna, lamb chops, filet mignon, and T-bone steak. Choosing the T-bone steak will cost the above price, but for the other 4 options, it will be 8,470 yen including tax. I chose the Benjamin salad and Benjamin soup. The Benjamin salad was a refreshing salad with plenty of crab meat, and the Benjamin soup was a thick soup with lots of meat. The Lobster Bisque I had a taste of was also delicious with a fragrant aroma. The T-bone steak for the main course was more than enough for two people! The outside was crispy, while the inside was juicy and packed with flavor, tender to the point of almost bursting. I had heard that this restaurant has excellent broiling techniques, and the cooking and doneness were indeed excellent. The seasoning was just butter and salt, without any black pepper, yet the simple taste was superb. I also tried it with the original steak sauce, but I personally preferred the simple taste it had when it first arrived. Overall, this was the most delicious steak I have ever had in Japan!
When it comes to eating the meat near the bone at the end, I was hesitating as it might seem a bit impolite, but the sommelier offered to "shave it off for you as the meat near the bone has the most flavor." This kind of service is probably standard at this restaurant, but it was a nice touch. I thoroughly enjoyed every last bit until the very end!
I usually order a bottle of red wine at steakhouses, but this restaurant offers a wide selection of high-quality wines by the glass, priced around 2,000 yen per glass. Being able to enjoy wines priced over 5,000 yen per bottle by the glass is a luxury. I had California Merlot, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon that day, and they were all divine. It's rare to find a restaurant where you can enjoy this level of wine by the glass, so I opted not to order a bottle and was completely satisfied with the various wines I enjoyed by the glass.
