Sweets Hyakumeiten TOKYO 60/100 is a dessert shop located a 10-minute walk from Kinshicho. The spacious interior has counter seating, tables, and tatami seating. I was seated immediately at 1:00 pm on a weekday. Although it is a dessert shop, they also offer a lunch plate where you can choose 4 side dishes to create a plate. I wanted to try the warabi mochi. They also offer exclusive desserts that can only be enjoyed in the shop. I was able to fulfill my wish by ordering the warabi mochi to go. I tried the special Anmitsu, which had chewy shiratama, firm agar, and a variety of fruits like banana, kiwi, orange, and grapefruit. The combination of citrus fruits and sweet red bean paste was surprisingly good. The sweetness was just right with the addition of ice cream (vanilla and matcha), but when I added black honey, the flavor was even more delicious. I enjoyed every last drop. Lastly, I bought the silky warabi mochi to take home. As rumored, it was incredibly soft with a unique aroma that was addictive. Drizzling black honey on top made it even better. It was also packaged with black honey for takeout.

I visited around 3 PM on Saturday. There was a long line of 10 people or more for shaved ice, so I ordered a red bean soup for takeout, but it was sold out, so I got a sweet red bean soup for 540 yen. There was only one left. I enjoyed it at home, and the sweetness of the red bean paste was just right, and the agar jelly was delicious.

The texture of the shaved ice is not extremely fluffy, but the syrup is evenly distributed and has a strong sweetness. It is quite filling if you have one by yourself, so it's nice that they serve warm tea. I would like to try the anmitsu or matcha sweets next time.

Around 12:30 on Sunday, there was quite a line passing by here. There were more than 10 people lined up, and since I thought I would have to wait, I decided to get a takeout of the "Torori Warabi Mochi" for 550 yen. I ate it at a park on the way to Ryogoku Station. It had an elegant taste, not too sweet, and I thought it was stylish. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely go again.

Located along Katsushika Hokusai's birthplace in Kamezawa, Sumida Ward, this relatively new old folk house café was established in 2003. Upon arriving around 1:30, there was already a line forming outside the shop, and I had to wait for about 30 minutes to get in. While their shaved ice is popular due to the lingering heat, my purpose today was to try the limited quantity "sticky bracken rice cake." The bracken rice cake has a smooth and light texture, not overly sticky, with a pleasant mouthfeel. The black syrup is made from unrefined sugar cane juice, boiled down, and pairs well with the bracken rice cake, providing a light sweetness. In the cozy atmosphere that makes you forget about the heat outside, enjoying the sweet treat with a cold matcha is simply delightful.

I arrived at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and there were 7-8 people lined up. We were able to enter the store in about 20 minutes. I ordered Uji milk with vanilla ice cream and Kinzaki countryside jelly as toppings! The ice was made with milk so the Uji flavor was subtle, but with the ice cream on top, it was still good. When the countryside jelly arrived, the combination of hot and cold was the best! I love alternating between the two. It was delicious - thank you for the meal.

I was torn between trying the shaved ice and the matcha flavors at this place. I had always wanted to come here, but I hesitated because they only seemed to have traditional Japanese shaved ice. I was also tempted by the parfait and warabi mochi. I arrived 20 minutes after the opening on a weekday and thankfully didn't have to wait in line. I decided to go with the Uji Kin Toki (with 4 pieces of shiratama) topped with vanilla ice cream. The matcha flavor was rich and slightly bitter, just the way I like it. The red bean was nice and chunky, and the shiratama was chewy and warm. The ice was a bit on the crunchy side, and towards the bottom, it lacked a bit of sweetness. Overall, it was a satisfying experience, although the ambiance inside the store was a bit lacking.

Kinshicho "Hokusai Teahouse" ¥1000-¥1350, Tabelog rating 3.75 I had the Shaved Ice with Fresh Strawberry Milk for ¥1350. The size of the shaved ice was quite large! The combination of strawberry pulp and condensed milk was amazing. The ice was not fluffy but more on the crunchy side. What I loved was that there was plenty of strawberry sauce in between the ice, so you never ended up with just plain ice. I went on a weekday around 4 pm and waited for about 20 minutes. Despite there being several empty seats inside, there was a long line outside, and they weren't seating people indoors quickly enough, which was a bit frustrating. However, the food was delicious, and I liked the calm atmosphere inside, so I would like to visit again. There were two groups waiting in line outside this café during a weekday afternoon after visiting the Sumida Hokusai Museum. We waited for over 30 minutes under the scorching sun... Despite people coming and going, we couldn't get inside the café. It was exhausting. The special sweet red bean soup we had was delicious, and the atmosphere of the café was nice, but there was still a long line outside... It was still very hot out. We couldn't relax and left right after eating.

I had shaved ice with ripe strawberries and condensed milk topping. My companion had Uji Kinmokusei with white mochi shaved ice, which is a classic menu but they also offer homemade fruit sauce, red beans, and matcha with various toppings, which is nice. The sauce had plenty of strawberries and the balance of sweetness and acidity was excellent, very delicious. It goes well with condensed milk. The ice was not fluffy but normal ice, with a smooth texture and very tasty. Uji Kinmokusei also had a good taste of matcha and red beans, a classic shaved ice. I would like to try their regular menu next time. We waited in line for nearly an hour in the heat, so it would be nice if they could let people in as soon as a table is available. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived at the restaurant at 3:20 pm on a holiday, there was a line of about 10 groups waiting. After waiting for an hour and a half, we finally entered the store. As mentioned in other reviews, the atmosphere was not focused on increasing turnover quickly, so it felt like they were taking their time with the service. I ordered the Uji Kin Toki shaved ice. It was served within 5 minutes of ordering. I finished eating quickly, but other customers were taking their time after finishing their food. The turnover was so slow that I felt sorry for the people waiting in line.

Before the store opened, there was already a line of over ten people. I thought they would seat us right away when they opened, but first they had to hang the curtain and confirm the number of people in line. It took less than 10 minutes after they opened for us to be seated. We were lucky to get in on the first round. After that, the line formed again, and it was tough standing in the heat. They had seasonal shaved ice and anmitsu that looked delicious, but I decided to go with the classic sweet set. The cold matcha and warabi mochi went perfectly together. The warabi mochi had a smooth texture and the sweetness was just right, making it very delicious. The sweetness felt even better after waiting in the heat. The atmosphere of the store was calm, and even though we only stayed for about 30 minutes, I was satisfied.

Around 11:30, there were about 7 groups lined up outside the shop. We waited for about 20-30 minutes. The atmosphere of the shop was nice and the food was delicious. For lunch, they offer around 3-4 types of dishes including pasta and udon. The shaved ice was fluffy and highly recommended. Everyone was ordering it.

This is a negative review. I felt that the concept of the restaurant did not match the long line outside. Even though there were only a few people in line, it didn't move at all. The atmosphere inside the restaurant seemed to focus more on chatting than eating, and there was no system in place to manage the line. By the time we got inside, the line outside was extremely long. The warabi mochi and Uji matcha were as expected, neither good nor bad. It bothered me personally that despite there being empty tables available, we were not seated promptly. Honestly, if this cafe was in my neighborhood, it would be convenient.

I ordered the raw apricot kakigori. I visited the restaurant around 12:30 on a Thursday. The restaurant was about 70% full. The ice in the kakigori was not fluffy, just regular ice without any special characteristics. The apricot was sour and delicious. Overall rating when visited: 3.75

Today, I met up with my high school friends after a long time. We waited in line for about an hour and a half under the scorching sun to enjoy shaved ice together. The place we went to had a limited number of seats and no sun protection despite the hot weather. The staff even warned us about heatstroke. I wished they had provided parasols or something to protect us from the sun. I ordered a simple Uji matcha shaved ice with red bean and added white mochi on top. The matcha flavor paired well with the red bean, giving a refreshing and delicious taste with a touch of Japanese tradition.

I walked 7-8 minutes from Kinshicho and arrived at Hokusai Teahouse. Upon entering through the traditional sliding door, I found myself in a cafe with an old folk house atmosphere. There were people having lunch and others enjoying desserts like shaved ice. Since I had just eaten a hearty tonkatsu, I decided to order the limited edition warabi mochi for 650 yen today. The soft and chewy warabi mochi was served in a generous portion. It came with a delicious combination of black honey and soybean flour. The shaved ice also looked very delicious and caught my interest. Thank you for the meal!

Arrived at 11:06 and had to wait for 45 minutes before being seated for the first round. Finally got in. They didn't let us wait in the shade, so it was just hot. It seemed like they had poor organization because people who had already entered were waiting for a long time. It was after 11:30 when we finally got served. People who ordered something like anmitsu probably had to wait for about 45 minutes. We ordered Tokushima black honey kinako and fresh golden kiwi. The fresh fruit was probably tastier. They have a decent lunch menu, so maybe they're just overwhelmed. I wish they could handle the customers a bit better. The shaved ice was okay, but it was expensive. The warabi mochi might be a better choice. After trying the shaved ice once, I was done with it.

[Nearest Station] Approximately 10 minutes walk from Kinshicho Station [Shop] A sweet shop located about a 10-minute walk from the north exit of Kinshicho Station. The signboard that says "甘味処" (sweet shop) at the storefront is easy to spot. Popular for its artisan-crafted Japanese sweets such as anmitsu, warabi mochi, and parfaits, there is always a line forming even before the store opens. They also offer meal menus, making it convenient for lunch as well. The interior of the shop has a calm and cozy atmosphere, resembling a traditional Japanese cafe, with counter seats, table seats, and even a raised tatami seating area at the back. Arrived around 11:15 on a weekend and the place was already full. There is no waiting area inside the shop, so you have to wait in line outside. After waiting for about 30-40 minutes, we were finally able to enter. [Food] Today's Japanese Deli Plate - 930 yen Melt-in-your-mouth Warabi Mochi - 650 yen [Impressions] Since it was also for lunch, we started with the meal menu. The Japanese Deli Plate comes with a variety of side dishes that change daily. On this day, it included domestic pork shabu-shabu, bonito tataki, mung bean sprouts and komatsuna namul, and simmered fried tofu. Everything was homely and comforting, with a gentle taste that was delicious. It's nice to be able to try a little bit of everything. The portion was just right for women, and even after finishing everything, I still had room for dessert, which I think was calculated or considerate. I decided to try the Warabi Mochi, which was fluffy and soft yet had a firm texture that can be picked up with chopsticks. It really melted in the mouth. The homemade black syrup added an elegant sweetness. It was so delicious, it reminded me of the amazing Warabi Mochi I had in Kyoto. I look forward to trying their red bean paste sweets next time. Perhaps I'll go for their zenzai in the cold season. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
