*Hachioji Ukai-tei Course: 13,200 yen
Located up a narrow hill from Hachioji Station, this restaurant is known for its top-notch teppanyaki cuisine. The impressive exterior and Christmas illuminations create a captivating entrance. Inside, the decor blends Japanese and Western styles, creating a sophisticated atmosphere. The attentive and exceptional service added to the overall experience. At the circular open counter, a dedicated chef prepares each dish with care. Starting with seasonal appetizers, the course progresses through vegetable dishes, seafood, and meat. While there were no standout dishes, the overall quality was consistent, highlighting the freshness of the ingredients. A standout was the seafood dish featuring thread-sail filefish, complemented by sautéed mushrooms, vegetables, and sauce, creating a harmonious balance. The meat dishes included lamp and sirloin, offering various ways to enjoy them, such as with onions and fresh pepper, ensuring a satisfying meal. After finishing, we moved to another table for tea time. The Mont Blanc dessert exceeded expectations, showcasing exceptional quality. Although I had never purchased cakes from Atelier Ukai before, I will definitely try them next time. As it was a special occasion, we received a gift of roses and a commemorative photo, adding a thoughtful touch to the excellent service throughout. This restaurant is perfect for celebrations like anniversaries or birthdays!
