The nights have become quite cool. During my night shift, I felt like wearing a light long-sleeved shirt. I thought it was time for the last "hiyashi" of the season, but they still had it on the menu. I couldn't resist ordering it once more. I couldn't choose the type of tempura, so I ended up with eggplant tempura. I know I always order the same thing, but I really like eggplant tempura. When it gets even cooler, I'll probably switch to shungiku tempura. They served a summer-only soba with frozen broth shaken in a bottle to make a sherbet. It was a refreshing treat. Thank you for the meal. I look forward to visiting again during my next night shift.

Night shift delight. Operating hours from 10pm to 7am. In the midst of the hot summer, they offer a refreshing "cold" dish. The crunchy sherbet-like rich broth is delicious. Boil the noodles, drain, then chill. It takes time and effort. Chilled soba with a punchy icy broth. Slurp, slurp. (Some might say slurp too loudly) Eggplant tempura soba for ¥640. Standing counter in an L shape, with the shorter side warm from the steam of the boiling pot. The aroma of curry also wafts through the air. Perfect seat for the colder seasons. Enjoyed eggplant tempura soba, then couldn't resist the curry aroma and added a set curry for ¥390. A luxurious late-night meal. Please excuse the abundance of onomatopoeia in this post. Thank you for the feast. A midnight oasis.

I live in the neighborhood, but closer to the station (Honrennuma) than the nearest one. I overslept and missed the last train, so I had to walk home in the dark. Along the way, I stumbled upon a soba restaurant that was brightly lit even in the darkness. Surprisingly, their business hours were from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. I ordered udon at the soba restaurant and was very satisfied.

Late at night, between midnight and morning. It's 4 am and time for a meal. The nights have been steamy hot lately. I'm enjoying a summer exclusive "hiyashi" dish. If I didn't know about this treat, I wouldn't have been able to continue working night shifts. What goes best with cold soba noodles? The plump eggplant looks delicious. The eggplant soaked in the broth is really tasty. Since the broth is cold, it might not mix well at first, so taking a bite to check the temperature and flavor before fully submerging the eggplant might be a good idea. The broth is like sherbet. Tonight's dish is a big hit again with crispy noodles and a delicious broth. The noodles are chewy in a way that surpasses the usual. It's a taste that could become addictive. Some people prefer warm dishes, and there are many enjoying them tonight. I was torn between the iced soba and the warm soba. But the season is changing soon, so I'll enjoy the cold dish while I can. Thank you for the meal.

Offered only in the summer season. A treat for night shifts. Chilled soba noodles. ¥500. A refreshing dish where frozen, shaken-up bottled soup is poured over the noodles, creating a slushy texture. Perfect for hot weather. The noodles are chilled and slightly chewy. The soup is richer and more flavorful than hot soup. It's both salty and sweet. As for toppings, seaweed seems like a safe choice. They ask if you want wasabi. Grated yam or radish would be nice, but they might be hard to prepare due to their short shelf life. As long as the soup and soba are delicious, that's all that matters. A summer dish called "Jaki Soba" by me. Thank you for the meal. Tonight, there is a fireworks festival in Itabashi Ward after 4 years. I hope it goes well. I have another night shift tonight, but this restaurant is closed. I wonder where and what I will eat next time.

During my night shift, I decided to treat myself to a warm soba noodle dish. Despite the ongoing heat wave, last night's heavy rain made it feel somewhat cool. The round moon looked beautiful in the sky, so I opted for moon-viewing soba. I added some seaweed and a ¥70 egg (you can choose between raw or boiled). And just when I thought that was it, a freshly fried eggplant tempura appeared in front of me! What luck! I quickly asked for it to be added to my order for an extra ¥140. The total came to ¥670 for this luxurious late-night meal. I dipped the crispy eggplant tempura in the broth and took a big bite. It was absolutely delicious!

After drinking, eating ramen gives me a sense of guilt that helps me stop recently. Soba is healthy, right? I justify it and enter the "Sobahiro" shop. Even though I'm not very hungry, I order the "Tsukimi Soba." The owner quickly prepares the soba, adds an egg, pours hot broth, and tops it with chopped green onions. I pay, receive the bowl, and sit at a table outside. I sprinkle seven-spice chili powder and start eating. It's delicious! The thick and soft soba absorbs the broth well. I enjoy mixing the egg into the broth halfway through. I finish quickly and resist drinking all the broth. I already know I'll regret eating so much at today's drinking party. Leaving some broth is my way of justifying it. It was delicious! Thank you! I'm grateful that they continue to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope they stay in business for a long time.

I always wanted to come here after watching it on YouTube, but I never had the chance until now. When I arrived after 10 pm, the place was almost full. I ordered the Spring Chrysanthemum Tempura Soba for 570 yen and shared a table with someone. The soup was a little sweet, and the noodles were thick, but they warmed my stomach after drinking it. The chrysanthemum tempura soaked in the broth was sweet and soft, complementing the soba perfectly. The parts that weren't soaked were crispy and delicious as well. Many people were ordering curry, and it looked delicious, so I want to try it next time!

After achieving an unexpected 1:03:91 at RED Tokyo, I walked a few minutes from Honnenuma A3 exit. Walking along the main road, I spotted a large lantern. The sign said they open from 22:00, and they are closed on weekends and holidays, which seemed like a high hurdle. But today was my only chance to visit. I arrived around 22:40 and found three customers already there. I was told that sometimes they don't have all the tempura options if you come early. I asked if they had spring chrysanthemum tempura, and they did, so I ordered it. I received my Spring chrysanthemum tempura soba for 570 yen in about 1 minute. I ate at a small table in the back. The hot broth was strong in bonito flavor and acidity, giving off a tanuki-like vibe. The base dashi was flavorful and light. The tempura was not too heavy, so it wouldn't make you feel bloated even if you eat it at night. The noodles were thick and slightly chewy, more like wheat flour noodles. They were pre-cooked and reheated, so they were decent. The tempura had a light batter, crispy on its own and soft when soaked in the broth. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. PS: Despite the late hour, the restaurant was always busy. It was a popular spot. It was a hot and humid night, and I started sweating after eating.

In Itabashi Ward, there is a standing soba restaurant on Route 17 with unusual operating hours from 10pm to 7am. I tried the Red Pickled Ginger Tempura Soba. The thick noodles with large pieces of red pickled ginger tempura were irresistible when eaten hot late at night. There were customers coming in one after another!

I finally tried the standing soba shop that I've been curious about for a while. The soba noodles were medium thickness and served in a hot and flavorful broth. The tempura was large and standing tall on top of the noodles. It was incredibly delicious and satisfying. I'm looking forward to trying different tempura toppings next time, maybe on udon. Many people ordered two tempura toppings. The owner, a hardworking woman, was diligently making the tempura behind the counter. If you're in Renge after 10pm, be sure to check it out!笑

A rare soba restaurant that is open from 10 pm to 7 am. I was worried that it might have closed due to the influence of the coronavirus, but it was operating energetically. On this day, I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered a 390 yen plain soba. It was a bowl of smooth soba noodles with a strong soy sauce flavor in the broth.

A rare standing soba shop that operates only at night. I visited around 6:30 on a weekday and there were about 5 seats at the counter, as well as 2 small tables outside. I was worried about the tempura being pre-fried, and indeed they had limited options left: croquette, sausage, chicken tempura, and mixed tempura. There may have been curry and egg as well. I ordered the sausage tempura from the female staff, paid in cash (\530), and quickly received my order. I ate it at the counter right away. The noodles were thick and soft, with a rustic soba-like color. They were quite delicious. The broth looked black but had a refined bonito flavor. It was easy to eat at the right temperature. The tempura was a large fish sausage, already slightly cold inside. However, it had a satisfying taste. The combination of the thick noodles and broth was particularly good. I later realized that since it was close to closing time, it was natural for the tempura options to be limited, but it seemed they still had curry and egg. If I come in the morning next time, I will try the curry soba with croquette topping.

In early April on a Thursday morning at 4:57 AM, as the warm spring days come to an end and the sun rises earlier, I visited the restaurant again to have some soba noodles. This was my third visit. The first time, I tried the delicious "Chikuwa Soba", the second time I had the "Croquette Soba", and this time I tried the "Kitsune Soba". The Kitsune Soba cost ¥460 (tax included). By now, I have gotten used to the soba broth here, which has a slightly sweet soy sauce base with a strong bonito flavor. The fried tofu (kitsune) was soft and delicious. I finished the noodles quickly and even ordered the curry set (¥300) this time. It was a satisfying meal. Thank you! The restaurant has a rating of 3.33 on Tabelog based on 55 reviews as of April 2023.

On Friday morning in March at 05:17, I went to a standing soba shop and tried the Croquette Soba for the first time. It cost ¥510 including tax. The broth was the same as before, rich and slightly sweet, very delicious. The noodles were thick and soft, and they absorbed the flavor of the broth well. The croquette surprisingly added a nice touch with its crispy coating enhancing the richness of the broth. Overall, it was very tasty. Thank you for the meal. I decided to try adding a different topping for a change. I ordered a ¥390 soba with a ¥120 croquette, totaling ¥510. I love sweet potatoes, but I couldn't resist the other tempura options. The croquette soaked in the soba broth gradually melted, becoming like a potage. The sweet potato dissolved at the end, creating a thick and delicious soup. I usually try to leave some soup to be mindful of my health, but this time I couldn't resist. I went around 3 am and there were still customers. It felt like an oasis in the middle of the night. Thank you for the meal. I wonder what I should try next for my next night shift. Exciting!

On a regular Wednesday early morning (4:20 AM), I stumbled upon a soba noodle shop that is open from 10 PM to 7 AM the next morning. The shop is run by an elderly couple, and on weekdays only as they are closed on weekends and holidays. I ordered a regular soba for ¥390 and a chikuwa for ¥120. The noodles seemed to be pre-cooked as they were quickly served after being dipped in boiling water. The soup had a strong soy sauce flavor with a hint of sweetness, which I personally didn't mind. The noodles were thick and soft, lacking in aroma and flavor but had a good texture. Surprisingly, the chikuwa topping was delicious and substantial. I would definitely come back to try more. Overall, it was a satisfying experience. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant "Sobahiro" is open from 22:00 on weekdays, serving standing soba noodles. It is a place frequented by people working late, on their way home from night shifts, or looking for a late-night meal after drinking. The bright lights of the shop illuminate the feet of those passing by on the Nakasendo road. Inside, you'll find a cheerful mother and a focused father cooking soba noodles and toppings. The menu covers the entire wall, with various toppings available. When everything aligns perfectly - the day, time, appetite, and tomorrow's early morning plans - you can enjoy their soba noodles. I had the "Nasu Tempura Soba" for ¥510, with thick noodles and delicious soup. The eggplant tempura was also tasty. Despite the late hour, the experience of slurping soba in the dimly lit shop enhanced the flavor. Regular customers kept ordering tempura, a sign of their loyalty. The road to becoming a regular seems long, but the experience at Sobahiro is worth it.

I visited around 2:00 on 3/10 (Wednesday). I ordered a small rice bowl, eggs, and soba with tempura, thinking of making a rice bowl with raw eggs, but then there was a "limited taro sprout" available. Wow, I love taro sprouts! It was a bit expensive at ¥200, but I ordered it. The total came to ¥590. It's not comparable to the wild taro sprouts I used to eat a lot at home (Iwate), but I appreciate being able to enjoy the spring sprouts in Tokyo. Thank you for the meal.
Sorry, I've been to this soba restaurant a few times recently, and it seems they are hesitant to post on Tabelog, so I'm sharing it here like a bonus. For those who love soba and are interested, I would be grateful if you could read it. I'm using it as a memo, so please forgive me. Thank you. Located along the Kawagoe Highway in Higashi-Shinmachi, Itabashi-ku. "○ Ki-an". This is also a late-night soba restaurant. Some may hesitate due to the mysterious sign and appearance of the shop. The interior is also cluttered and chaotic. If you are a neat freak, you will probably turn back as soon as you open the door. It's too mysterious which days of the week they are open, and what time they are open. However, what I can say is that this renowned restaurant has been serving hand-made soba late at night for over 30 years in this area (personal opinion). The soba made with Hitachi soba flour has a nice aroma, even though it's on the shorter side. Even without a dish under the zaru, not a drop of water falls, because they firmly drain and dry the soba. They mentioned that they might have to quit soon because they can't keep up with the physical demands, but I hope they can continue a little longer while taking care of their health. I used to visit often when I lived nearby in my 20s. Late-night hand-made soba. It's a great thing.

It was an abnormally cold night where I felt like I would die if I didn't have something warm to eat. (2/15/2023) The joy of working the night shift. Tanuki soba, raw egg, and a small bowl of rice. I have a plan in mind. When I visited before, I overheard a customer ordering soba, rice, and a raw egg, and the staff asked, "Do you want it on rice?" I didn't miss that moment. "So that's an option!" I thought excitedly. Sprinkling the crispy tempura bits, soaked in broth, over the rice instead of using soy sauce, and mixing it all together is pure bliss. Being able to enjoy such delicious tamago kake gohan in the middle of the night is a true happiness. Thank you for the meal.
