On April 14, 2018, around 6 pm, I visited this restaurant with 6 middle-aged men. I highly recommend going with women, whether it's a date, a group date, or a work gathering. They have a wide selection of drinks, so be careful not to drink too much as it can get a bit expensive without a drink-all-you-can option. There was no scenario where we thought someone was a girl when they were actually a boy, and no one turned out to be a celebrity like Maki Horikita. We've been meeting up about four times a year since high school, and all of us are now middle-aged men. Four out of the six of us, including myself, have gained a bit of weight over the years, but we all seem healthy and that's a good thing. We take turns organizing our gatherings, and this time, a friend chose this restaurant, Kakurebo Shinjuku. A few years ago, another friend was the manager of a different Kakurebo location, so I've been there a few times before. The food and drinks are delicious, but I always thought it was a bit expensive. So when I heard that they now offer a 5000 yen course with all-you-can-drink, I thought it was more affordable than before. I arrived at the restaurant about 5 minutes before our reservation time. It was my first time noticing how many Isetan stores there are in Shinjuku on my way there. Shinjuku always feels chaotic to me. It's like you could get into a fight just by bumping into someone, like Kiryu Kazuma. One person was running late due to work, so we started with five of us. I was a bit worried about how much food we would get for 5000 yen, but the portion was just right, and the dishes were served individually rather than on large plates, which was nice. It might be a bit lacking for men, but it was enough for me as I was drinking. The drinks were also delicious, and the service was attentive. The private room was great because we could chat loudly without disturbing other guests. I was initially concerned about having only men in our group, but we had a good time without any issues. Still, I think it would be better to go with women. A date in a semi-private room or a group date in a private room is recommended. It's a bit pricier than a regular izakaya, but not too upscale, making it easier to fit into your budget. The food was delicious, although the portions were small. Thank you for the meal. Everyone was heading to a second location for drinks, but I've been losing my memory from drinking too much lately, so I decided to go home after the first round. Plus, overeating isn't good for you. In the past, I would have definitely stayed until the end, but maybe I'm becoming more of an adult. By the way, when I was the organizer for the 6-person gathering before last time, we went to a restaurant in Ginza recommended by a famous food blogger, Udon Ga Shushu-san, for a 5000 yen course, followed by Hooters. That was also a fun night. Let's meet up again next time, all in good health. The end.

"Hidden Room Shinjuku" ☎️ → 050-5890-1523 Reservation → Available → 3-15-11 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo Ad Hoc Shinjuku Building 7F ⏰ Business Hours → Lunch 11:30-14:30 [Mon-Sat] Dinner 17:00-23:00 [Sun] Dinner 17:00-22:00 Regular holiday → Irregular holiday → Card / cash possible → 20800 yen This time we went to a stylish izakaya in Shinjuku called @kakurebou_oniwa, which is like a hidden gem. About a 4-minute walk from Shinjuku Station. It is located along Yasukuni Street and is known for its beautiful night view ✨ This time we had a private room, so we didn't have a window seat, but it was still beautiful!! The seats with a view of the night view are used as couple seats, so it's easy to get closer to the woman next to you ❤️ The cuisine is completely Japanese-style. The seafood was delicious! What we ordered this time was: - Assorted three kinds of obanzai - Mentaiko and honey cream cheese - Assorted five kinds of sashimi - Warm tofu with clams and hiratake mushrooms - Thick red egg roll from Chiba Prefecture - Fried long yam and Kitaakari with mentaiko sauce - Fried Oyama chicken with black shichimi pepper My personal favorite was the mentaiko and honey cream cheese. Believe it or not, I kept nibbling on this while drinking sake (lol). The runner-up was the warm tofu and Kitaakari fried dish! If you like a Japanese vibe, you'll definitely love it ✨ This time, we went with all men, but this place is definitely better for women to come. It has an atmosphere and price range that makes it perfect for first-time visitors or even for a second visit. There is a restaurant located at Shinjuku East Exit where you can see the night view of Kabukicho from the counter seats. I visited at night, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and clean. I think it's a great place for dates or girls' night out. In fact, there were only couples at the counter seats. The main dish seems to be meat cooked on hot stones, and they flambe it right in front of you. It's great for taking photos and videos, and I think it would make for lively conversations! I'm not good at taking pictures, but it looks something like this ===========

Today, I went out with a close colleague for some chit-chat and good food. There are many restaurants in Shinjuku, so I had to research some chain restaurants as well. This place has a cozy and hidden vibe with a nice interior. It was quite crowded that day, so it wasn't very conducive for chatting (laughs). We toasted with highballs! The interior was very clean and seemed popular among couples. We had some appetizers like steamed egg custard, roasted duck with grilled eggplant, and rich red egg omelette. The duck and the chirashi sushi were particularly delicious. The croquette reminded me of a sweet and savory flavor similar to "Imahan's croquette." It had a nice beefy taste. We also enjoyed drinks like highballs, strawberry and Calpis, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Kimino Ume. We shared a luxurious seafood chirashi sushi, which was priced at 2,178 yen. Overall, the food was delicious, but I felt it was a bit on the expensive side in terms of value for money. Nevertheless, we had a fun time drinking and eating. Thank you for the meal!

The atmosphere of the restaurant is stylish and perfect for girls or dates! The dishes are carefully prepared and look delicious. Although the restaurant and food were good, there was a wait even though we had a reservation. Also, it was surprising that croquettes came out first after the appetizer. It would have been better if they served side dishes or sashimi first.

This building has restaurants on the 8th and 7th floors, with a straw-grilled restaurant on the 8th floor and a cozy restaurant on the 7th floor. I was lucky to get in without a reservation on a Friday. I was seated at a counter seat by the window with a view of the night scenery of Shinjuku, and enjoyed a relaxing time with a beer. The menu included a sashimi platter, duck salad, fried potatoes and yam, turnip and prosciutto carpaccio, all of which were delicious. The fried potatoes and yam were particularly tasty. The dishes were served relatively quickly, making it a stress-free dining experience. The staff were attentive and the 2-hour time limit passed quickly, but it was a refreshing experience to drink in a cool space on a hot day.

Everyone loves a buffet! This price in Shinjuku is too good to be true! The interior of the restaurant is stylish and lovely, with a cute dome resembling a snow hut. They offer authentic Japanese set meals and all-you-can-eat skewers! I can't help but go back for more... They have a salad bar, fried foods, simmered dishes, curry, and udon! You order the skewers by writing on paper, and it's a bit of a wait because it's so crowded, so it's better to order a lot early! You can enjoy the skewers with salt, curry salt, or tempura dipping sauce. The batter is just right, and I ended up eating too much. This lunch buffet with amazing cost performance is a must-try! ▶︎Access: 5-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station East Exit ▶︎Menu: Lunch Buffet 1,500 yen *Weekdays 1,600 yen ------------Crowd Information・Customer Base----------- ▶︎Arrival at 12:30 Reservations recommended ▶︎Entry time: 12:30 ▶︎Meal time: 12:35 ▶︎Female:Male = 6:4

Personally...the variety of dishes may not be extensive, but the taste is above average. It would have been appreciated if the staff had explained a bit more politely. Also, when entering the restroom...the smell is like a public restroom and I don't want to go in there anymore. If they improve the restroom, it would be a 3-star rating.

I visited Kakurebo Shinjuku for a business networking lunch. The moment I stepped out of the elevator, I was impressed by the stylish interior. It was fully booked at 12 o'clock, but luckily I had made a reservation. Reservations are definitely necessary here. The course meal we reserved was delicious. I noticed they also offer a buffet-style lunch with udon noodles that looked tempting, so I'd like to try that next time.

Located a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit, on the 7th floor of the Ad Hoc Building, this restaurant offers all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet and freshly fried tempura. The 90-minute buffet and tempura all-you-can-eat for 1500 yen is very reasonable. With a drink bar included, it's perfect for a girls' night out. The restaurant has a variety of seating options, including private kamakura rooms, window-side counter seats with a view, and large group tatami seats. It's a popular place, so I recommend making a reservation for lunchtime. You order the tempura by writing the quantity on paper. Although the portions are small, the tempura was delicious because it was freshly fried. However, the tempura takes a long time to be served, so it may be a challenge to order a second round within the time limit. The Japanese buffet features dishes like simmered eggplant and spinach, dashimaki tamago, kinpira, and tofu hamburg steak, with over 20 items always available. I felt that getting a buffet with a drink bar and tempura for 1500 yen (1600 yen on weekends) in Shinjuku is incredibly good value. Ordered items: - Lunch Buffet (with a drink for toasting) May 2023

I went to a hidden room Shinjuku store, a 4-minute walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit, for a lunch buffet priced at 1500 yen. It is an izakaya lunch on the 7th floor of the Ad Hoc Building. When I arrived around 1 pm, there was only one group waiting, but it seems that many customers make reservations even for lunch, so the reserved customers were allowed to enter first. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I was seated by the window. For tempura, you write down the number of items you want on a piece of paper and hand it to the staff. The buffet menu is Japanese food, and everything is delicious and plentiful. By the time I finished my first plate, the tempura arrived, which was more like fritters than traditional tempura. For my second round, I got curry and dessert. The curry was not too spicy but had a nice home-cooked taste. After finishing my meal, I was quite satisfied with the value of 1500 yen. Thank you for the meal!

After finishing work in Kawagoe, I took the Red Arrow train to Seibu-Shinjuku Station and met up at Ad Hoc Building. The first floor of Ad Hoc Building is currently under construction. We took the elevator to the 7th floor. We ordered the following dishes and drinks: - Red Seabream and Karasumi salad (1,078 yen) - Duck roast salad (803 yen) - Fresh mango sour cocktail (600 yen) - Rikuto Junmai Daiginjo sake in a sake pitcher (1,100 yen) - Kido Junmai Daiginjo sake in a sake pitcher (1,000 yen) - Service charge (550 yen) I was curious about the two types of sake, so I ordered them to taste. They were so delicious that I decided to purchase them. Thank you for the meal.

I had been curious about the hidden room buffet lunch. The 8-story commercial building where the restaurant is located has a good location, but due to the influence of the coronavirus, only the B1, 7, and 8 floors were open. The overall taste was on the stronger side, making the rice go down smoothly. The curry was sweet, and it was delicious with freshly fried chicken. The all-you-can-eat freshly fried tempura was a highlight. There was also a wide variety of dishes. The coffee was as bad as expected though. Service-wise, when I entered at 12:30 on a Monday, the place was already full, and I felt that there were few staff members. Given the high labor costs in this day and age, it's understandable. Some negative comments were made about the service, but personally, I found it neither good nor bad, and there were no major issues with the service for the price of 1,500 yen. In terms of cost performance, a lunch buffet in Shinjuku's bustling area with free soft drinks and all-you-can-eat freshly fried tempura for 1,500 yen (1,600 yen on holidays) is Not too bad at all.

※A lunch buffet with all-you-can-eat tempura skewers.※Private rooms in the style of igloos, and window seats with a view of the night scenery. The hot tempura skewers are served to order, making it perfect for day drinking. There are many dishes available, but I recommend starting with a few light vegetable options and then repeating the tempura skewers. I probably ate over 15 shrimp skewers alone, haha. On weekends and holidays, it's ¥1600, but I think you can easily get your money's worth with just the tempura skewers. Even with a lemon sour and a beer, it's around ¥2300. Starting the weekend with some shopping, getting full, and then relaxing at home. It seems like a great way to spend a hot summer.

Business dinner with a business partner. He made a reservation at a restaurant near his workplace. We visited "Kakurebou Shinjuku Store". The location is on the 7th floor of a building at a corner of a street one intersection before Yasukuni Street when heading towards Shinjuku City Hall from Shinjuku Station East Exit. As we entered through a narrow corridor-like entrance, we were greeted by a spacious and open atmosphere. The window-side counter seats offer a view of Shinjuku's night scenery, and the seats are not regular tables but rather couple seats like long benches or semi-private rooms shaped like snow country igloos, showing some creativity. We were guided to one of these semi-private rooms. "Kakurebou" is operated by the major restaurant chain Diamond Dining, with 6 stores in Tokyo and Kanagawa. It was my first visit, but it seems that all the stores have the same concept. While they offer courses, tonight we ordered a la carte. We started with a toast with beer and ordered the following: - Assorted appetizers - Assorted sashimi - Tempura squid wrapped in seaweed - Simmered octopus from Akashi - Tempura of conger eel - Dashimaki tamago (rolled omelet) - Aged pork shoulder loin marinated in Saikyo miso - Matsumae pickles - Wagyu beef rice in a clay pot All the dishes look beautiful. They may not have strong features or strong impact, but they use high-quality ingredients and are well-prepared. After beer, we switched to sake, with a good selection including "Shirakiku Junmai Ginjo," "Kido Junmai Daiginjo," "Kubota Senjyu Junmai Ginjo," etc. The dishes all paired well with the sake, so we enjoyed the marriage of flavors. However, there were some service issues. The restaurant is spacious and intricately designed, making it difficult for the staff to see the customers, and they may not notice even if you raise your hand. The number of staff members is also quite low considering the size of the restaurant. Additionally, even when ringing the call buzzer, the response was slow, and we had some difficulty with additional orders. Perhaps due to the decrease in customers during the pandemic, it may be challenging to secure enough staff, but I hope they improve as it can ruin the impression of the good food and drinks. The bill was around 19,000 yen for two people. Thank you for the meal!

We had plans to have a meal in Kanagawa, but suddenly changed to Shinjuku, and received contact from the organizer about this restaurant. I arrived with a rough idea of the location using a map app. However, when I ascended the stairs from the underground promenade to the ground level, I thought, "Wait, where am I?" and the scenery was not what I had expected, causing me to rely on the map app's navigation function to proceed. However, the navigation function did not work as expected, and I ended up getting lost, with my current location unknown. After wandering for about 5 minutes, I finally arrived, haha. I took the elevator to the 7th floor and reached the entrance of the restaurant. During the guidance from the entrance to the table, I felt that the restaurant was relatively quiet. The customer occupancy at 7:00 PM was about 30%, and we were told that we could have the table for exactly 2 hours. Except for one staff member, the customer service was of good quality. I ordered a hot pot based on their recommendation. It was delicious, freshly cooked and steamed. In addition to the photos, we ordered multiple dishes. When sharing among 4 people, the portions were a bit small, so we had to divide them into smaller portions. We had some beer and the total cost was 5000 yen per person.

I made a reservation for a girls' gathering since it seemed difficult without one, and booked it for the opening time. There was a long line in front of the elevator on the first floor because the elevator doesn't move until opening time. The buffet had healthy-looking Japanese dishes, and you order the tempura on paper. I was happy with the freshly fried tempura. I couldn't get a seat at the Kamakura-style table, so I think it's better to make a reservation early if you have a preference.

Located on the 7th floor of a building across the main street from Mister Donut. We were two people but used a 6-person private room. The sashimi platter was surprisingly delicious and had good value for an izakaya. The sesame tofu is highly recommended! It has a rich sesame flavor, almost like eating a chunk of sesame. The sea bream hot pot is also recommended! It takes time to prepare, so it's best to order it early. Order some hot tea and try making ochazuke for a different taste experience.

Private rooms are also available, including couple seats with a view of the night scenery, igloo-style private rooms, and open spaces. We chose the igloo-style private room. It was dimly lit, but we didn't mind the surrounding voices and it was a nice seat. Today's order: - Yuzu-scented Kinmedai (golden eye snapper) clay pot rice - Moist and rare fried scallops - Steamed meat dumplings (2 pieces) - Assorted sashimi - Fried taro with clam and oyster mushroom sauce - Matcha roll cake All of them were delicious, but the yuzu-scented Kinmedai clay pot rice is highly recommended. The broth was flavorful, and the combination of salmon roe and golden eye snapper was excellent. The crispy rice at the bottom was also delicious. The atmosphere was great, so this is a recommended restaurant for dates.

I visited with a reservation for 3 adults at noon on a regular day. We were seated at a round sofa table, which was very nice. We were given an explanation of the system first. For the tempura, we were instructed to write up to 5 pieces per person on a paper on the table and hand it to the staff. This was my first time experiencing a Japanese buffet, so I was looking forward to heading to the food corner. There were healthy dishes lined up, but they seemed more like frozen rather than homemade. Despite this, considering the price of 1500 yen, the taste was good and I was satisfied. At this point, I felt it was a 4-star experience. This was the first half of the visit. The rest of the experience was disappointing. Firstly, the tempura, which should have been freshly fried, was cold. Not just lukewarm, but cold. I thought they could have kept it warm by placing it in a warmer with the buffet dishes. When I ordered more tempura to have it warm, I was told to wait because it was busy. In the meantime, I went for a second round. The spinach namul was delicious. However, the eggplant and green bean side dish had eggplant that was not thawed and was impossible to chew. It's fine if it's frozen, but I would appreciate it if it was thawed. The additional tempura I ordered arrived, and it was still cold. At this point, I decided not to say anything further. Lastly, when I went to get hot coffee, the pot was empty. Even after informing the staff, a new pot did not arrive after waiting for a while. When I asked again, I was told they were currently making it. It was noon, how can there be only one pot of coffee made? I thought. I went to get warm hojicha, but even that pot was empty. In disbelief, I returned to my seat and realized it was almost time to leave. This was an unbelievable experience at the restaurant, and I doubt I will return.

I used it for a lunch buffet. The building was under construction with tenants, so the elevator wasn't working at all, and there were a lot of customers waiting on the first floor looking anxious. I managed to enter safely, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was calm and nice. The main tempura skewers were made to order, so it's better to order them in advance. The freshly fried crispy tempura was delicious. The buffet dishes were all tasty as well. However, the replenishment pace was a bit slow. The iced tea was always missing whenever I went to get a drink, and I didn't see the almond jelly being placed until later. The plates, especially the bowls, weren't replenished quickly. So, those who are looking to eat a lot might feel a bit disappointed. Personally, it was just right as a casual venue for a girls' get-together, so I would like to use it again.
