It's Sunday afternoon. Today's plan is to visit the Boston Museum exhibition at the Tomioka Museum, then head to Jiyugaoka for an Italian meal. I hope the rain doesn't get any worse, thought the otter as he got off at Yushima Station. First, lunch. Upon entering the shopping street of Ike-no-hata Nakamachi, he immediately noticed Kintarou Sushi. Wasn't the main store in Asakusa? There are various theories, but is it the origin of Negitoro? He slid his fingers and passed through the curtain. It was just past one o'clock, so there was only one customer at the counter. However, lively voices could be heard from the private room in the back, maybe they were having a lunch party. He ordered the 1.5-person portion of nigiri sushi. The toppings included two pieces of lean tuna, medium fatty tuna, shrimp, flounder, white squid, salmon roe, conger eel, snow crab, scallop, one roll of bonito, egg, miso soup with seaweed, and pickled mustard greens. The quality of the lean tuna and medium fatty tuna was good, and who wouldn't be happy with snow crab? The sushi from this long-established restaurant is delicious. And it's a good deal. Next time, let's visit the main store in Asakusa. And with that, the meal was delicious.

There isn't any standout dish, but the daily small side dishes and miso soup that come with it make this price very reasonable. The vinegar rice is particularly delicious, with just the right amount of vinegar. The portion size between the large and regular servings of rice is quite different. The chefs are all friendly and skilled.

After 3 PM, I went to Yushima and luckily found Kintarou open. I had a leisurely lunch at Kintarou with soft sushi, uni, and marinated mackerel that melted in my mouth. I enjoyed various appetizers and got a bit tipsy, forgetting to take photos. The squid gratin and grilled bamboo shoots were also delicious. I left feeling satisfied. Thank you for the feast!

I have been visiting this restaurant every few months for a while now. Lately, I have been craving sushi a lot, so I often come here for work. I have visited most of the sushi restaurants in Ueno, but my personal favorite is Kintarou. They have a wide variety of side dishes and drinks, making it suitable for both business meetings and private dining. My personal recommendations are the Sun Vinegar Sour cocktail, and for food, the gratin and shrimp shinjo from the side menu.

Chirashi Sushi for 700 yen. Today, I had lunch in Yushima. Entered at 11:50 am, with 5 customers already inside and 18 customers coming in after me. Ordered and received my food in about 4 minutes. The toppings included egg, cucumber, tuna, squid, fish cake, shiitake mushroom, octopus, shrimp, salmon, and white fish - a generous variety. The sushi rice was at a good temperature, and I was happy to see plenty of pickled ginger and Nara-zuke. The miso soup with red miso and the simmered radish side dish were also delicious. Great value for money, very satisfied. Left with a full belly and saw a line forming inside the restaurant by the time I left. Enjoyed my meal on November 25, 2022. Rating: 3.12

I had a great meal at a sushi restaurant during a business trip. It was a luxurious lunch break with sushi. There were about 5 people waiting, but there were plenty of seats so we were seated quickly. The service was fast, which was helpful since I was short on time, and the food was delicious. They even served miso soup and small side dishes.

This is the place to go for delicious sushi with good value in Ueno. The sushi is not the only tasty dish here, other dishes are also delicious, and most importantly, the sake here suits my taste so I come here occasionally. This time, I came for a daytime drink. There are many places in Ueno where you can drink during the day, but when you want to avoid crowded places, it's nice to come to Yushima for a relaxing sushi meal. It was busy this day as well. It was very hot, so I cooled down with chilled tofu and beer, then enjoyed the kiss fish tempura and bakudan, both of which were delicious. I wanted to go to a second place, so I kept the sushi light. The flounder sushi was especially delicious. This is a reliable restaurant for me. I will visit again.

On a regular day, I stopped by Ueno for lunch and could only think of sushi and beer. I arrived at the restaurant just before 1 PM, it wasn't crowded so I sat at the counter. I ordered a bottle of beer and the lunch menu's chirashi. I got a black label beer and a small appetizer first, then the chirashi arrived soon after. I started with a sip of beer, daytime beer tastes the best. This was my first time trying chirashi and for 700 yen, it was a great deal. This vinegar rice dish is perfect for the summer when your appetite is low. I enjoyed my sushi and beer quickly and it was a satisfying meal. Thank you! 🍣🍺

Visited Kintarou Sushi at 14:00 on a weekday after a long time. Only the Funjin store is open in the Yushima area. Upon entering the store, there were already 2 customers at the counter seats. We were seated at the counter with acrylic dividers separating every 2 customers, and it felt surprisingly calming to sit there. Almost ordered the omakase sashimi platter, but ended up ordering the lunch nigiri set and a bottle of beer. A small appetizer was served before the beer, and the hostess seemed amused as if she made a mistake. Soon after, a simmered daikon radish side dish was served. The flavor of the dashi was rich, reminiscent of Kanto-style cooking. The sushi set included glossy pieces on sushi geta, tekka maki, and tamago. The miso soup from the sushi restaurant was also served. The dashi seemed to be made not only from fish bones but also shrimp and crab shells, resulting in a delicious broth. The sushi toppings were flavorful and melted in the mouth. The shari was of normal size, with a warm touch and a light texture. While there is a 1.5 serving option, the 1 serving portion was satisfying. With a reasonable price of 1500 yen, it is easy to become a regular here. There used to be several sushi restaurants in this area, but I think I will continue to visit this one in the future. Especially because there are many dishes other than sushi available, it seems suitable for casual dining with friends or even dining alone at the counter seats.

I was brought to this place by a local person, who often treats me after golf. I had been here once before, but felt a bit hesitant to walk around this area alone, so I had them accompany me again haha. The menu is quite extensive, with not only sushi but also salad, appetizers, fried foods, and more. Since there were two of us, we couldn't eat too much. There are many menu items that make you want to drink sake! This time, we had seafood salad, grilled conger eel, grilled dish, deep-fried white shrimp, salted sea squirt, and assorted sushi, among other things. The menu was indeed rich, and we had a great time^ ^ Most importantly, the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Thank you for the meal!

On a Sunday afternoon, I went to Ueno for lunch after a long time. I used to go to this restaurant near my workplace for sashimi set lunches on weekdays, so it was nice to revisit. The place was not crowded, so I sat at the counter and ordered a bottle of beer and some pickles. I mixed a little soy sauce into the pickles and wrapped them in seaweed to enjoy with my beer. While looking at the menu, I noticed they had "Geso Gratin"! I immediately ordered it as I used to have it often at the Kanamachi branch when I was younger. Recently, I have been going to the Matsudo Higashiguchi branch just to have this dish. The gratin was fluffy and had a slightly larger portion than other places, making me feel happy. I couldn't stop eating it. I also ordered some fried oysters, which I like to eat with soy sauce and tartar sauce. It was delicious as always. I had another glass of Hakutsuru sake. I then ordered Tekka Maki and Anakyu Maki. I finished off with some sushi rolls, washing them down with Japanese sake. It was a satisfying meal. I will definitely come back soon.

The Tokyo Olympics have come to a joyous close. It's hard to believe it's been half a year already. I never really had an interest in women's wrestling before, but this time, I found myself rooting for Sasaki-chan. She's so cute! Even though I'm not a fan of wrestling, I felt happy watching her. To celebrate her success, I decided to try the celebratory sushi at "Kintarou Sushi Tokiwadaira Branch." It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it for a special occasion. The menu offers a variety of options like nigiri, chirashi, tekka don, and more. Despite the high prices, the quality of the sushi was not exceptional. It felt more like regular sashimi rather than premium sushi. Overall, it was an average dining experience, but I'm glad I didn't opt for the more expensive options. Let's appreciate the peace and tranquility of everyday life and cheer on Sasaki Yui as she continues to excel in her wrestling career.

Most seafood bowls are priced at 700 yen, making it very cost-effective. It's a blessing for salarymen. Plus, it comes with a small side dish and miso soup. I ordered the marinated tuna bowl. It was delicious, as expected from a sushi restaurant. The tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) on top was also tasty. I forgot to order a small portion of rice, so I left some behind, but for those with a big appetite, the portion size is substantial. You can also get a large portion for an additional 100 yen. I'd like to try other seafood bowls, so I'll definitely be back.

I visit this restaurant about once or twice a year. It always feels nostalgic and I love the traditional sushi restaurant atmosphere. The place is always bustling with customers, and it's one of my favorite spots. When I come here, I always start with sashimi. This time, I had saury, hiramasa, bonito, Pacific saury, and bream, all of which are my favorite fish and they were all delicious. For appetizers, I had grilled conger eel. It was fluffy and tasty. And of course, sake. One of the reasons I love this place is because they have my favorite Kaga Tobi sake. I was completely satisfied today with delicious fish and sake. I always end up drinking too much and not being able to eat much sushi, but that's okay too.

If you want to enjoy sushi or sashimi with some drinks in Ueno, then you should definitely go to Kintaro. It's a familiar and reliable place, and the food is delicious. It was really cold, so I ordered two glasses of warm sake to warm up. Then I ordered various dishes to enjoy with my drinks, including a fantastic grilled squid legs dish. Everything was so tasty, especially when paired with sake.

Last night, I stayed in Ueno for work and stayed in Okachimachi. After checking out, I felt like having some sushi before work, so I visited this place. Most sushi restaurants open around 11 am, so it was nice that this place was open from 10 am. There were no customers inside yet, and the sushi chef was still preparing, but he kindly served me. I ordered "1.5 servings of nigiri" and the sushi was served promptly. The volume was decent for the price of ¥950. The tuna had a slightly dull color but still had a strong tuna flavor, which was delicious. It was much more enjoyable than being served fancy tuna from a farm, and I could eat three pieces without getting tired of it. Handling tuna like this really showed the skill of this longstanding sushi restaurant. The technique of marinating and curing is part of the culture of Edomae sushi, but being able to enjoy tasty sushi without worrying about your wallet may be the essence of Edomae sushi.

I often visit Kintaro in Asakusa, but I found out there is one in Ueno as well, so I decided to visit. Upon entering, there is a counter on the left side and I was guided to a semi-private area in the back. I didn't have to worry about anything, just had to take off my shoes. We enjoyed some snacks, drinks, and had a fun time with my family. The sea urchin was delicious, and the bomb was also tasty. I also liked the pickled ginger here.

This is a casual sushi restaurant with a counter. There are many sushi restaurants around here, and the prices and interior are similar. There are also table seats at the back of the counter, so if you prefer table seats, that's also fine. There are several skilled chefs behind the counter who will make sushi for you. We ordered a sashimi assortment and it was beautifully arranged, so we had high expectations. The carefully cut sashimi was delicious. As for sushi, there were many types of fish available, such as salmon, horse mackerel, squid, fatty tuna, lean tuna, medium fatty tuna, sea urchin, salmon roe, and ark shell. The fish pieces were quite large and the rice was slightly smaller than regular sushi, making it a good choice for women who want to try a variety of options. I had been drinking Geneva (a type of lemon sour alcoholic drink) all night, and before I knew it, it was closing time. The chef's response was witty and funny, which I appreciated. If I ever go to Ueno again, I will definitely come back to this sushi restaurant.

Sunny day on 8/13. Today I decided to go flower viewing. First stop was the lotus flowers at Shinobazu Pond. I found a shady bench on the east side to sit on. I even moved once to find a different view. Maybe it was too late in the day, as the flowers weren't blooming very strongly. Perhaps there are more flowers on the other side of the pond? After enjoying the lotus flowers, I headed to the dining area on the south side. I went to a sushi restaurant that seemed to be open early. I ordered a variety of sushi including tuna, shrimp, squid, octopus, herring, white fish, negitoro, egg, and cucumber. It wasn't flashy, but it was really good. The white fish was surprisingly delicious.

The sashimi was delicious, as expected from a sushi restaurant. Next up, let's have some sake. Let's go with Hakkaisan. There are various sake brands to choose from. There was even something called "Mizore Sake," which is sake chilled to a supercooled state in the freezer. When you quickly pour it into a cup, it magically turns into a sherbet-like texture. It's like a science experiment and quite entertaining. Of course, we finished with a few pieces of sushi. The salmon roe, shrimp, and fatty tuna were all delicious!
