About 20 years ago, I first visited Hinazushi in Shinjuku with my friends. At that time, there were no 100 yen conveyor belt sushi restaurants like there are now, so when I ordered 20 pieces of Otoro and they arrived, I was so happy and moved. I always had a good image of Hinazushi, where you could eat high-quality sushi to your heart's content, despite the slightly high prices. Recently, by chance, my friend and I found out that there is also a Hinazushi in Ikebukuro, so we decided to go there for the first time in about 20 years. We planned to go for the all-you-can-eat luxury sushi experience, so we adjusted our meals the day before and had light meals on the day of the visit. We finished work, rushed home, and then headed to Ikebukuro on a cold day. We were a bit stingy and chose to go by motorcycle to save on parking fees. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was full and there was a line, which made our expectations even higher. After a while, we were called in and we ordered the all-you-can-eat option. The battle began, reminiscent of 20 years ago, and I tried to order 20 pieces of Otoro, but to my surprise, there was no Otoro. I thought to myself, "Was there no Otoro?" They had Chutoro, so I ordered 20 pieces of Chutoro instead. I prepared my mobile camera and eagerly awaited the arrival of the sushi. What came out was... Chutoro? Bintoro? I wasn't sure, but it tasted like the Bintoro I had tried at a 100 yen conveyor belt sushi restaurant. I finished the 20 pieces of Chutoro and before I knew it, my friend had already placed the next order. I wanted to order more, but following the rules of the restaurant, I ordered 20 pieces. I was hungry and wanted to eat quickly, but the next order took a while to arrive. However, since I was chatting with my friend, I didn't mind at first. The all-you-can-eat time was 2 hours, so I thought it would come eventually. But the slow service started to make me angry. My friend tried to calm me down, but I was getting more and more frustrated. I wanted to eat a lot with my stomach growling, but I was kept waiting with an empty stomach. The all-you-can-eat time was 90 minutes, so I calculated that if I ordered 5 rounds of 20 pieces each, it would total 100 pieces. I had ordered half of that, so I was short by 25 plates, and my stomach was still not full. I noticed that everyone around me was also not eating, they were waiting. It wasn't just me waiting. The whole restaurant was unable to serve the customers properly. When the last order announcement appeared on the tablet device, I couldn't help but complain. I was so angry that the sushi didn't taste good at all. The restaurant staff must have been working hard, the sushi chefs were diligently making sushi, and the servers were just standing around looking bored, which made me even more upset. After thinking about it, I realized that each order was limited to 20 pieces, so with two people, we could only eat 10 pieces per order. If there were four people, it would be reduced to 5 pieces each. If there were more people, it would be even less. The waiting time remained the same. The restaurant employees were not at fault. I wished the management would come out and apologize. I had adjusted my meals the day before and was looking forward to going back after 20 years, but I never expected to have such a bad experience. It was truly disappointing.
