Saturday afternoon. Originally planning to go to a different restaurant, but it was fully booked, so ended up here on a whim. Located halfway up a hill, the place has a charming atmosphere. Around 12:30, quite busy but got seated at the counter right away. Ordered the special portion of oyakodon. Had to wait a bit, but it arrived soon. The special portion includes shrimp for added color. Perhaps to add a touch of elegance, as one might expect in a geisha district. The chicken in the oyakodon is finely chopped, probably for easier eating (without needing to open your mouth wide) as geishas would. The flavor is sweet and rich, with the egg cooked just right. The special portion is quite filling, and the miso soup, pickles, and sweet black sugar kinako pudding that comes with it are all well-prepared. The price of 1,250 yen feels worth it for the quality. Initially, the service seemed a bit indifferent, but as I finished my meal and moved on to dessert, the bill was smoothly presented without having to ask, showing a level of understanding and attentiveness that is quite pleasant. This, too, feels like the sophistication of Kagurazaka, a geisha district.

I was told that this restaurant is also good for solo lunch at the counter, so I decided to try it out. I had the Udon Sukiyaki on this day. The clams are ready to eat when they open. It's recommended to cook the chicken thoroughly. The delicious broth is light and refreshing with plenty of ingredients and a refreshing yuzu flavor. The udon noodles are very thick and chewy. I didn't know Udon Sukiyaki could be this delicious! The meal ended with mochi and a sherbet dessert, all for 1750 yen. I will definitely come back when it gets colder. Personally, I preferred the Udon Sukiyaki over the Oyakodon.

I visited the restaurant around 1 pm on a regular day without a reservation. The place had a nice atmosphere, located up a narrow road and a slightly steep staircase. Although it seemed quite busy, I was able to enter without waiting as there was only one person ahead of me. I ordered the parent and child bowl. Even though I was dining alone, I was seated in a private room with a sunken kotatsu table separated by acrylic in the middle, which I found to be a unique shared seating arrangement. The dish arrived promptly and was surprisingly large! It was filled with chicken in every bite, with layers of egg, chopped seaweed, and rice. Coming from the Kansai region, I found it a bit salty or rich in flavor, but overall, it was very delicious. At ¥1,130, I think it offers great value for money! They also have seasonal menu items, so I would like to come back to try other dishes. Thank you for the meal!

A famous oyakodon restaurant in Kagurazaka. The eggs were soft and fluffy, and the chicken was tender and delicious. It was unique to have seaweed on top of the rice. The Oyakodon for 1,130 yen is cheap. However, as someone on a low-carb diet who prefers mild flavors, it may have been a bit too sweet for me.

Saturday lunch! When it comes to Torichaya, it's all about udon suki!!! But it's too hot to eat warm udon... Sudachi udon - refreshing and delicious for 1300 yen! It's perfect for the hot weather. It really captures the essence of Kagurazaka. It was a very fulfilling lunchtime experience.

I had the udon suki course. The dashi was flavorful in a traditional Kansai style. The noodles were thick and had a good texture. I also tried a bite of the family's oyakodon, which had a sweet seasoning and a nostalgic taste. The restaurant and the surrounding atmosphere had a nostalgic Edo period charm, making it nice to visit a place like this once in a while.

I arrived a little before 11:30 and waited outside until I was allowed in. When it was time, I was seated at the entrance and then guided to the counter to order the Oyako Don. The dish had seaweed placed under the egg and was slightly sweet in flavor.

As you go up Kagurazaka Street, there is a small women's shoe store on the left, then make a left turn at the end and another left immediately. I had the katsuo tataki set meal for 1580 yen. I ordered extra rice, which turned out to be just the right amount. There was no additional charge for the extra rice. The dish had a lot of condiments and was drizzled with ponzu sauce, so I lightly mixed it like you would with chanko-style tataki. The katsuo itself was quite ordinary. The slices were large and couldn't be eaten in one bite. It seemed more like a dish for drinking rather than a set meal. However, it was reasonably tasty. Looking at the other customers, I noticed that none of them were eating oyakodon, but rather opting for the katsuo tataki set meal or udon.

Today is a special day, so I came to Kagurazaka to fulfill my child's request for oyakodon. The restaurant opened at 11:30, but I arrived a little early, 10 minutes before. There were already people waiting inside the restaurant. It was a hot day, so I was grateful to be allowed to wait inside before opening. We had made a reservation, so we were seated right away after opening. While we came for the oyakodon, we were also intrigued by the "udon suki," so we ordered the "oyakodon," "extra-large oyakodon," "udon suki," and the side dish "yuba" for the three of us. The dishes arrived fairly quickly. However, the beer was slower to come out. The oyakodon had a slightly sweet flavor, with nori laid on the rice. It might be a matter of personal preference, but it suited our taste perfectly and was incredibly delicious. As for the udon suki, opinions may vary. The broth was gentle and flavorful, as expected from the restaurant's signature dish. However, personally, I would have preferred regular udon noodles. The texture was like a mix of thick udon and chewy chikuwa, which might not be to everyone's liking. The yuba side dish was simply delicious. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and high-quality food, but unfortunately, there was one staff member who lacked in customer service. It's important for the service to match the restaurant's reputation, so I hope they receive some additional training. Thank you for the meal!

On a regular Friday at 11:15 am. Where should I eat? Maybe I should go to Kagurazaka for a change. It's surprisingly close, so I don't go there often. How about a place with a slightly high-class atmosphere that screams Kagurazaka? I haven't tried the oyakodon here yet. It's almost 11:30 am, just a little more until opening. I wander around and arrive 5 minutes before. Looks like there's a line forming, so I wait casually to blend in. Finally, it's 11:30 am, the opening time! I'm seated at the counter. There are mostly groups of 4-6 people with reservations. Surprisingly, there are a few solo diners like me. The counter seats are already full. It's totally fine for solo diners here, no need to worry! I'll have the special oyakodon (1,340 yen) please! Excited to try it. In just 5 minutes, here it is! The moment of opening the lid is exciting. Let's dig in! Wow, it looks delicious! Soft, fluffy, and elegant. Oh, the oyakodon is a drink too!? Just the right amount of sweetness. It disappears quickly when you eat with a spoon, so I start with chopsticks. The seaweed adds a nice touch. Not overly sweet. The chicken is tender and bouncy. And the shrimp adds a touch of elegance. They even split it in half but there's still plenty of shrimp! Overall, this is really good. It's hard to eat with chopsticks towards the end, so I scoop it up with a spoon. It's always sad how quickly a bowl dish disappears. Thank you for the delicious meal. It was truly delightful!

I went for lunch on Sunday. I arrived around 11:20, even though they open at 11:30, there were already 4 groups waiting in line. After they opened at 11:30, we were able to get in without waiting at all. More customers kept coming in afterwards, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated. The oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) is absolutely delicious. It's the best oyakodon in Japan. It's a taste that I would definitely recommend to my friends.

This is the best oyakodon I've had so far. I feel happy that I can eat at this restaurant at this price within lunch range. I have visited this restaurant many times, but I may not be able to visit it often in the future due to circumstances, so this visit was a special one for me. The taste of the egg is not disturbed, the deep but not overpowering taste of the broth. Well-marinated chicken. Exquisite fluffy and creamy egg. Ah, delicious. I will find an opportunity to visit again, so I hope they continue for a long time. Thank you very much.

It was the weekend, so I lined up before the opening and entered the restaurant. Those with reservations were seated first, and then we were able to enter without waiting. I was looking forward to having a oyakodon for lunch, but I also wanted to try the udon suki, so we decided to share both dishes. The udon suki had a delicious broth that was so good I could drink it forever. The udon noodles looked like sukiyaki noodles, but they were also delicious. The oyakodon was tasty too, but personally, I don't think the rice needs seaweed. It's like a katsudon, and I'm personally not a fan of seaweed.

I had a course meal at Torichaya in Kagurazaka. Kagurazaka is known for its hilly streets and many unique shops. The course meal at Torichaya included delicious sashimi, with the tuna belly being particularly tasty. The tempura and grilled dishes were also very good. The "udon suki" dish had a subtle flavor with a rich umami taste, and it was very delicious.

I made a reservation in advance for my visit. There were many people who came without a reservation, so there was a long line immediately. I hesitated, but I came for the oyakodon, so I decided to order it. The chicken was tender and the seasoning was just right, not too strong or too light, which I liked. I also appreciated the tofu and pickles that came with it. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

I felt like eating oyakodon, so I went to this restaurant in a back alley in Kagurazaka. I was surprised to see a small line forming before the store opened. I ordered oyakodon without hesitation. The seaweed sandwiched between the rice and the dashi broth was incredibly delicious! The homemade dessert that came with it that day was pineapple jelly, and it was so tasty with the fruit texture. The pickles were also delicious, it was the best experience.

I visited alone around 11:30 on a regular day. It's easy to enter and spend time at the counter even as a solo customer. Since I came all the way here, I had to try the oyakodon, so I ordered the set meal. It comes with salad, simmered dish, dessert, and it's a satisfying meal. The broth is rich and the oyakodon is delicious. Even if you're not a big fan of oyakodon, this one is easy to enjoy without any strong flavors, so give it a try.

I visited around 12 o'clock on a regular day and was able to go up to the second floor after waiting for about 7 minutes with about 3 groups ahead of me. We took off our shoes before going up. We ordered the parent and child set meal. It was delicious and a bit sweet, very satisfying. Under the egg, there was seaweed spread out, and the rice was soaked in the broth. The portion was generous and I was full. The udon suki had a hint of yuzu in the broth. They kept adding more broth, so we could enjoy the rich flavor. The thick noodles were chewy and had a texture similar to sukiyaki. We could enjoy the ingredients while eating. Thank you for the delicious meal.

It's been a while since I visited Torichaya Dojikahonten or Betten. This was my first time at this shop. It has a nostalgic atmosphere. I didn't post, but a few years ago, my family visited the main store. We prayed at the Bishamonten Zenko-ji Temple. This time, on a special day, my spouse and I visited the Bishamonten Zenko-ji Temple to pray.

My older sister, daughter, and I went and had udon suki and oyakodon. The broth of the udon suki was very delicious. The aroma of yuzu was also nice. The thick flat noodles had a chewy texture. It was interesting and tasty that mochi was included at the end. The oyakodon was a bit too sweet. The entrance is located on a small geisha alley staircase, which adds a nice touch of elegance. It was a great addition to our stroll around Kagurazaka.

I visited on a rainy Saturday afternoon and was able to get in without waiting. I ordered the parent and child set meal, which came with pickles, salad, miso soup, a small fish dish, mini tofu, mini jelly, and parent and child rice bowl. The portion size was generous, which was a plus. However, I was disappointed that the parent and child rice bowl did not have enough onions, and the nori on top was too overwhelming, masking the flavors of the egg and chicken. I prefer a rice bowl with lots of onions, no nori, and a strong taste of the sweet egg and chicken. The seasoning was also too strong, making it easy to get tired of the taste. The egg flavor was overshadowed by the nori. This is just a matter of personal preference. In terms of service, although it was stated that credit cards were accepted at the time of payment, I was told at the last minute that only cash was accepted. Luckily, I had just enough cash on me, but it made me worry about other customers, especially those who may be traveling from overseas. The staff's response was also a bit cold, which was a downside.
