I had some errands to run in Akabane, so I decided to stop by "Sumita" for the first time in a while and have their kashiwa tempura udon. The udon noodles had a nice firm texture, and the kashiwa tempura here is exceptional. Today, I wanted to savor the broth so I ordered it hot. #udon #Sumita #Akabane #soloactivity #soloeating #tent sauna #solo drinking #camping #outdoor #solocamping #sauna #solo meal #gourmet #beer

I visited this place at night last time but they ran out of noodles, so I came back for revenge during lunch on a weekday. The turnover rate was quick, and I got in after about 15 minutes. I ordered the kashiwa oroshi bukkake udon and some oden with daikon, thick fried tofu, and beef tendons. The oden was delicious! It had a slightly strong soy sauce flavor, but it was well seasoned and tasty. The traditional sweet mustard added a nostalgic touch and paired well with it. As for the udon, they don't offer a large portion. I was satisfied with the amount, but my companion could only finish about half, so the portion is decent. The udon was chewy and had a great texture. Be careful not to put too much in your mouth at once because it can be hard to chew (laughs). The tempura batter was on the firmer side, which might be a matter of personal preference. I plan to come back next time for the curry udon! I'm curious about the mochi tempura that a regular customer was ordering, even though it's not on the menu (laughs).

A shop where you can enjoy authentic Sanuki udon in Akabane. The owner, who trained in Kagawa Prefecture, founded the shop in Jujo in 1999 and later relocated to Akabane in 2009. The Sanuki udon, which has been adapted for people in Tokyo, has gained a reputation and the shop is known for having long lines. In addition to udon, the appetizers are also popular, especially the "Sanuki oden" with a rich broth flavor. Sanuki udon has a unique chewy texture, similar to Haneji mochi, with a springy resilience. Location: 10 minutes walk from Akabane Station. Business hours: [Lunch] 11:00-14:00, [Dinner] 18:00-21:30. Closed on Mondays and Sundays. I visited on a weekday night and was seated immediately. Today, I ordered the "Oyako Bukkake" (¥1200) and the "Sanuki oden assortment (5 items)" (¥800). The shop is located on Akabane Suzuran Street, a shopping street near Akabane Station. The menu recommended the "Sanuki oden assortment" so I ordered that. The square-shaped fish cake was chewy, the simmered pork was tender with a sweet broth flavor, and the daikon radish was hot with a simple yet flavorful broth. The egg was rich and the yolk spread throughout the mouth. Soon, the "Oyako Bukkake" was served. It came with two pieces of quail tempura and fish cake tempura on a separate plate. The Sanuki udon had a clear soup stock and a chewy texture that paired well with the toppings. The udon noodles were long, providing a satisfying meal. The quail tempura was soft and had a bouncy texture, making it hard to resist wanting more. In contrast, the fish cake tempura was moist and seemed intentionally softer than the quail tempura.

It was a remote work day, so I stopped by for an early dinner. Sumita-san is always crowded, but I managed to visit at a good time between the lines. I started with oden, which was delicious with the flavors soaked in. The daikon radish was especially amazing. As for the udon, it depends on personal preference, but I prefer dipping it in the broth because it's delicious. The grated daikon radish for flavor change in the middle was also tasty. The tempura rice bowl had thick vegetables, which provided a satisfying meal on its own. There are various types of sake as well. If it's not too busy, it might be nice to relax and have a drink.

I visited a highly rated restaurant on Tabelog to see if it was really delicious. [Before entering] I arrived around 11:00 on a holiday and waited in line for about 40 minutes. [Inside the restaurant] There were about 15 seats at the counter and tables. The tables were large, so families were enjoying their meals. The menu was filled with short strips of paper, and the interior was like that of an izakaya. [Order] Tempura bukkake (cold): 1,500 yen Assorted Sanuki oden: 800 yen [Appearance/Taste] Surprisingly, the dishes arrived in about 20 minutes. The tempura included shrimp, eggplant, sweet potato, and okra. The udon was a soft and chewy type. It had a slight firmness, so you could feel the texture. The tempura had a moist batter, which was a bit surprising. It was a little disappointing, but the ingredients were delicious. The oden was heavily soaked in broth and was salty. Is this the authentic taste? [Overall assessment] Overall, it was delicious, but I felt like I had high expectations because of the wait. The tempura might divide opinions. Those who prefer a crispy texture may not enjoy it. The portion size was good, so I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

This restaurant always has a long line. I happened to visit around 6:30 pm on a weekday and there was no line. There were 7 customers in front of me and 5 behind me. The turnover seemed slow. I ordered the parent and child bukkake udon (with two chicken tempura, one fish cake tempura, and a soft-boiled egg) for 1,200 yen. They recommended adding oden due to the wait time, but I passed this time. The udon broth was incredibly delicious - light but with a strong dashi flavor. The noodles were tasty and had a great chewy texture. The chicken tempura was juicy with a crispy coating, very delicious. The fish cake tempura was average compared to the chicken tempura. Personally, this was definitely the best udon I've had this year. After finishing my meal, I saw that there were only a few people at the counter, but there were 3 people waiting outside. It seems that being in a small group is advantageous at popular restaurants like this.

- Oden assortment, Oyako Bukkake, Kitsune Udon I ate udon near my friend's house. It seems to be a famous place, even mentioned in the Michelin guide or as one of the top 100 udon shops. Despite the rain, we were able to easily find a table a little before noon. The oden was a bit too salty, but probably would go well with sake. I can't drink, though. The Oyako Bukkake was delicious, especially the chicken was tender and juicy with no strange smell, and the batter was crispy. The chikuwa tempura was also tasty! The udon itself was smooth and chewy, very delicious! The broth was light and easy to drink, and the egg was richly mixed in. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, even with children. I would love to visit again when I go to my friend's house.

Visited around 11:00 on Saturday. There was already a line, waited for about 15 minutes to enter. While waiting in line, we were asked for our order, so I thought it would come out fairly quickly, but ended up waiting for about 20 minutes after entering. There always seems to be a line, perhaps due to slow turnover. On this day, I had udon with onsen egg, pickled plum, and grated daikon toppings. The udon had a firm texture and was very delicious. Personally, I prefer thick noodles, so I would have been happier if they were thicker. This is a matter of personal preference. The tempura looked very delicious, so I think I will try it next time.

I finally got a seat at this famous restaurant. The conger eel tempura was sold out, so I went with the summer curry udon. While waiting for the udon, I enjoyed some oden with beer and sake. There were about 10 types of sake on the menu, but the one I wanted was also sold out. The curry was quite spicy and I ended up sweating a lot.

Both the noodles and oden unfortunately didn't match my taste. Oden was a good snack with beer, the daikon was very flavorful but a bit salty, and the broth had a slight bitterness. The udon, ordered as bukkake due to the heat, was different from the usual bukkake and felt more like cold udon. The noodles felt somewhat powdery and didn't suit my preference for smooth noodles, but the kashiwa (chicken) and chikuwa (fish cake) were delicious.

Arrived at 11:20 am on a regular day. It seemed to be full, so I had to wait outside for about 15 minutes. There were table and counter seats, and it seemed like there were many locals. The interior of the restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, reminiscent of a grandmother's house. After about 15 minutes, the udon arrived. I ordered the bukkake kashiwa tempura for 1100 yen. The noodles were chewy and had a strong texture. I had to chew much more than usual during lunchtime. The amount of noodles was more than enough. And the kashiwa tempura was outstanding. While tempura with a crispy coating is common, this one had juicy and tender chicken meat inside, which was incredibly delicious. It was so good that I wanted to order just the kashiwa tempura. They also gave me a bag of tempura scraps as a bonus. It's a bit of a walk from the station, so I envy those who live nearby.

This is a famous Sanuki Udon restaurant in Akabane, Kita-ku, Tokyo. I made a reservation for the evening to avoid the scorching heat of the day and the long lines that are a must at this restaurant. The course dishes were all delicious, especially the well-flavored daikon radish and beef tendon oden, which paired perfectly with the Japanese sake. We finished with kashiwa tempura and oyakodon with onsen tamago, leaving us fully satisfied and content. It was a pleasant and enjoyable experience, and I would definitely love to visit this restaurant again.

Located about 10 minutes from Akabane Station. It was a hot day, but when I arrived, there were only 3 people in line. Of course, when I left, there were nearly 10 people waiting. I heard that the udon, tempura, and oden were delicious, so I ordered all three. The udon had a nice chewy texture that made it worth waiting in line for. The tempura, I ordered chicken tempura, was also delicious. The oden was served cold and was tasty. It's a place I would want to come back to again and again.

I felt like eating delicious udon, so I went to Sumita after a long time. As usual, there was a long line. You can make a reservation for dinner, but you can also get in by waiting in line on the same day. *Be prepared to wait in line as the turnover is not very fast. Location: About a 10-minute walk from Akabane Station. It is located a little walk after passing through Lalagarden. Interior: The interior is like an old-fashioned izakaya, small and cozy. Order: Kake udon, oden (daikon radish, egg, hanpen fish cake) Impression: Personally, this is one of the most delicious udon in Tokyo! The broth is gentle and delicious, and I like simple kake udon because I want to savor the broth. The balance of the noodles is excellent. The smooth and beautiful noodles that even seem beautiful, with a great balance of firmness. The oden is seasoned quite strongly. It has a soy sauce-based flavor. The hanpen fish cake is sweet and delicious. It's been a while since I last came, but I'm still very satisfied with the delicious udon. I'm also happy with the tempura as a souvenir. I haven't been here for a while, but I plan to visit regularly again.

I have been to the famous Sanuki udon restaurant, Jutou, several times in the past. It was always crowded during lunchtime, so I visited their new location in Akabane for the first time in a while. I went around 1 o'clock and was able to enter without waiting. I ordered sudachi sour, oden assortment, and natto bukkake udon for 900 yen. The oden and sudachi sour were delicious and refreshing. The natto bukkake udon was perfect for a hot day, light and energizing. The udon had a nice chewiness to it. I would love to come back again for more Sanuki udon. Thank you for the delicious meal! First visit. Visited on Thursday at 7:30 PM. No wait time. Ended up having dinner at a udon restaurant in Akabane, which I found while looking for a place to eat near JR Akabane Station. I had never been to one of the top 100 udon restaurants before, so I decided to give it a try. Luckily, I was able to get in without waiting in line. The restaurant has a small L-shaped counter with 6-7 seats. The menu offers a wide variety of udon dishes, including seasonal specials. They also have a selection of toppings and tempura. Additionally, they serve a delicious Sanuki-style oden, which is a great option while waiting for your udon. What I ate: - Ume Yuba Udon (1000 yen) - Sanuki Oden Daikon (220 yen) and Beef Tendon (380 yen) The "Ume Yuba Udon" had a gentle yet flavorful taste with pickled plum and yuba. The broth and yuba sauce complemented each other well, making it very delicious. The overall gentle flavor of the udon, combined with the plum and shiso, enhanced the taste of the udon. The "Sanuki Oden" with daikon and beef tendon was well-cooked, flavorful, and tender. The taste was on the stronger side, and it paired well with mustard.

I searched for a place to have lunch in Akabane and found this place. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but once you pass through the shopping arcade, it's right there so it doesn't feel too far. When I arrived at the restaurant, there were about 5 groups waiting. Since I had come all this way, I decided to join the waiting group. In the meantime, I looked at the menu and decided on my order. Although I was tempted by the curry udon, it was a hot day so I chose the oyakodon. It was the perfect choice. Even though they didn't offer a large serving, the portion was satisfying. The noodles were smooth and the tempura was crispy and delicious. I also added some oden and had a fulfilling lunch. I definitely want to visit this place again. The curry udon that other customers ordered looked really delicious too. Next time, I want to try that. They also offer free tenkasu to take home, so I took one on my way out.

Udon EAST popular shop "Sumita" located near Akabane Station East Exit, just a 10-minute walk from Lalagarden. Despite being a busy restaurant with long lines, I was able to enter without waiting by arriving at 6:30 pm on a weekday. The restaurant quickly filled up afterwards, so I may have been lucky with the timing. It was my first visit for dinner. Seasonal Limited: Ume Yuba Udon (cold) - 1,000 yen Oden: Daikon, Satsuma-age, Konnyaku - 560 yen While waiting for the udon, I had some oden. The tender daikon, square-shaped fried fish cakes, and konnyaku were delicious. The spicy miso was amazing! For the udon, I chose the seasonal limited Ume Yuba Udon. The slightly translucent medium-thick Sanuki udon had a good texture and was served with a light broth, chopped seaweed, pickled plum, yuba texture, myoga, chopped green onions, shiso leaves, white sesame seeds, and ginger on the side. The balance of flavors was perfect. It was refreshing and delicious! "Sumita" is one of the top ten Sanuki udon restaurants in Tokyo. The oden was also excellent! I regret not being able to try the beef tendon oden and corn tempura due to my tight jeans that I wore after a long time. The kind proprietress provided me with some fried tempura batter as a souvenir as usual.

I have decided to have ramen tomorrow, so today I went for udon. I revisited Sumitani, a popular udon restaurant in Tokyo. I ordered the kashiwa cold bukkake udon. The noodles, broth, and kashiwa tempura here are all delicious, but the wait time is long due to slow turnover. However, it is truly the best udon I have ever had.
