As the weather gradually warms up, I find myself craving spicy food, especially Southeast Asian cuisine. Today, I decided to have Thai food for lunch and visited this restaurant that I had bookmarked before.
1. Exterior, atmosphere, and interior of the restaurant:
Located about a 7-minute walk from Yotsuya Station, right across from the famous taiyaki shop "Wakaba". The storefront features a colorful flower bed, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The Thai national flag is prominently displayed outside. Inside, the decor is unified with dark brown wood, and there are sacred elephant figurines and Singha beer posters that evoke the feeling of Thailand.
2. Food:
For lunch, I ordered my favorite "Khao Man Gai" with an additional "Tom Yum Kung Ramen" for an extra 550 yen. The "Tom Yum Kung Ramen" arrived first, and despite being a side menu item, it was surprisingly generous in portion. The soup had a perfect balance of spicy, tangy, and sweet flavors, with a variety of ingredients like shrimp, squid, and shimeji mushrooms. The lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves added a refreshing aroma. The noodles were cooked perfectly. Next, the "Khao Man Gai" was served. The steamed chicken was tender and flavorful, paired with fragrant jasmine rice cooked in chicken broth. The soy sauce had a rounded saltiness that complemented the chicken and rice well. The cucumber and salad on the side added freshness. I thoroughly enjoyed both dishes and left feeling satisfied.
3. Staff:
The restaurant was run by three friendly Thai staff members who greeted and seated us warmly. They spoke Japanese fluently, and the service was smooth and efficient. Overall, there were no issues with the staff's hospitality.
4. Value for money:
I was happy to be able to enjoy both my favorite dishes, and I found the use of herbs and spices in both dishes to be to my liking. The ambiance of the restaurant and the friendly staff further added to the positive experience, making it worth the price.
5. Other:
Next time, I would like to try their curry dishes.
