Chantoya Coconut Curry [Magic Coconut Curry that goes well with anything] 2022 CURRY 228th store 401st meal on October 24, 2022, 3347th curry meal since 2017. Kanda Curry Street food stamp rally 100 stamps 90th store. No.8 Bacon, Tofu, and Wood Ear Mushroom Curry 990 yen. Camembert Cheese 350 yen. Less rice -20 yen. Chantoya Coconut Curry, which I have been enjoying for many years. I have tried all the menu items in the stamp rally at the restaurant. What I realized is that this coconut curry is like magic, it goes well with any ingredients, whether it's Japanese-style or Chinese-style. One time, I conducted an experiment with my curry school friends where we added various fruits to the curry, and surprisingly, it all tasted good (although too many ingredients were not ideal). Therefore, I think Chantoya Coconut Curry is a great curry that defies the common sense of coconut curry. Finally, it has been listed in the Tokyo 2022 Top 100 Curry Restaurants. Congratulations, Chantoya! This time, I chose No.8 Bacon, Tofu, and Wood Ear Mushroom, which has become my regular order over the years. It's healthy and delicious. I visited around 4 pm on a weekday. It was great that they offer all-day service. Today was their 12th anniversary, so they were serving curry for only 500 yen, with three different types available. I ordered the chicken, eggplant, and tomato curry. The chicken was tender, and the sweetness of the coconut milk balanced well with the acidity of the tomatoes, making it quite refreshing and delicious. The rice was cooked just right, perfect for soaking up the curry. The spacious counter and tables created a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.

12th restaurant from Tabelog Top 100 & first stop for Kanda Curry Grand Prix. Visited Chantoya for their coconut curry. The cafe-style interior attracts many women. The salad served with lunch has a tasty ethnic dressing. Opted for chicken, spinach, and egg curry. It was packed with ingredients and very satisfying. Despite being coconut-based, the curry was gentle and easy to eat!

I arrived at the restaurant on Saturday around 1:50 PM, there was no wait and I was seated shortly after. I ordered the No.1 Chantoya Curry with Fukurotake topping, large spicy rice, and a large lassi. The salad had a dressing similar to sour cream with a nice acidity that matched well with the vegetables, making it very delicious. The curry was very drinkable and extremely tasty. The chicken in the curry was seared, giving it a nice aroma and presence, but it was finely chopped so it didn't overpower the curry's flavor. Every time I dug into the curry, I found more ingredients, all finely chopped and harmonizing with the curry's flavor. The ingredients played supporting roles, with the curry being the star of the show. It was an incredibly well-executed curry. Thank you for the meal.

I had some business in Jinbocho and decided to have lunch somewhere around noon, so I looked up nearby restaurants on Tabelog. I found that "Chantoya Coconut Curry" had high ratings, so I decided to go there. When I arrived at the restaurant at 11:51, there was no line, so I went inside. The place was quite busy with other customers. I was seated at the counter and ordered the "Chantoya Deluxe Seafood Curry" for 1,280 yen, with a spice level of "medium." At 11:52, I was served water and salad. The salad and rice were included. The salad was delicious and a nice addition for someone like me who needs more vegetables. At 11:59, the Chantoya Deluxe Seafood Curry (medium spice) arrived. The curry and rice were served separately. The curry had scallops, shrimp, squid, and sakura shrimp as ingredients. The curry was mild with a hint of coconut milk, not very spicy, and quite tasty. The seafood ingredients did a great job. The portion size was not very big, which may explain why there were many female customers. I finished my meal in no time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I visited around 19:30 on a regular day and was able to enter without waiting. The interior of the restaurant is bright and has a cafe-like atmosphere. I ordered the chicken, eggplant, and tomato baked cheese curry with a mini salad. You can choose the level of spiciness for the curry, and I chose medium. Even though coconut is used, it wasn't too spicy even at medium level (so even those who don't like spicy food should be able to eat it). The balance between the sweetness of the coconut and the spices is good, and the taste becomes addictive the more you eat. There was plenty of tender chicken in the curry, so I was satisfied with the portion. I was surprised by how much I liked the mini salad, which had a dressing that I hadn't tasted much before (possibly using cilantro?), but it was very delicious. I hope they add a regular size option to the menu! They have a wide variety of curry dishes, so I have decided to revisit.

This area is unexpectedly a fierce battleground for curry. I came to this shop in search of my favorite coconut curry. The menu has many options, but the base of the curry is the same and you can choose different combinations of ingredients. Since it was my first time, I asked for recommendations and ended up choosing the classic chicken, eggplant, and ginger. The balance of chicken, ginger, and the sweetness of the coconut curry was just right and exactly the taste I was looking for. The interior of the shop was very clean.

I ordered the limited-time Ga Pao-style curry. It has a coconut curry base with bell peppers and ground meat, similar to Ga Pao rice. It was a unique combination that I had never tried before, but it was very delicious. The curry had plenty of ingredients, and it also came with a salad for lunch. It's about a 6-minute walk from JR Ochanomizu Station. Visited around 6 p.m. on a weekday and about 30% of the seats were occupied. Today's dish was spinach and tomato cheese curry with baked cheese topping for 1260 yen. The menu was a bit confusing as cheese was added separately. The curry was rich with cheese, plenty of spinach, and had a good coconut flavor with nice tomatoes. It was delicious until the last bite. Thank you for the meal.

After work, I wanted to have a light curry in Shin-Ochanomizu, so I decided to go to Chantoya Coconut Curry. I arrived around 6 pm and there were already 3 groups of customers. I ordered the Chantoya curry with small rice and medium spice for 940 yen, and added potato toppings for 150 yen. The coconut curry, despite its red appearance, was not very spicy and had a strong coconut flavor. It was delicious with plenty of eggplant and bamboo shoots, although the potato toppings were a bit lacking. Personally, I think chicken, potatoes, and onions would be the best combination for coconut curry. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and left feeling satisfied.

Lemongrass, cilantro, coriander, cumin, etc. are used to create a refreshing aftertaste. Kanda Curry Street Stamp Rally 2023 1st Store - Curry with tender pork, cabbage, and tomatoes for 1,080 yen. It came with a salad with Thai-style dressing. You could choose the level of spiciness, but I went with the regular one. The rice portion was just right, and there was plenty of curry. It was very delicious, but personally, I prefer curries with lots of South Indian spices, so I found the mild flavor a bit lacking. This was my first time participating in the stamp rally this year.

The chicken was a bit sparse, and the curry had a strong sweetness but lacked spiciness. It was tasty, but I wished it had a stronger coconut flavor and more spices or seasonings.

On a Saturday during a 3-day weekend, I decided to have curry for lunch in Jimbocho and chose a coconut curry restaurant for a summer vibe. I arrived a little after 1 pm and found that about 80% of the 5 counter seats and 5 table seats were occupied. I was seated at a counter seat and looked at the menu. It was a specialty coconut curry shop with only one type of curry, but you could choose toppings and spiciness level. There were 14 regular options and 1 limited-time option on the menu. Protein options included chicken, sausage, shrimp, fatty pork, minced meat, and more. After some consideration, I chose the "Fluffy Egg Curry with Chicken and Spinach" (990 yen). I selected the medium spiciness level, which was the second level out of four, and opted for a normal amount of rice. The restaurant had many young women and couples as customers. There was one man in the kitchen and one woman serving as the waitress. The waitress seemed very busy taking orders, serving dishes, and handling payments, as well as serving rice. I was served a mini salad that consisted of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and corn, with a delicious dressing made of oil, vinegar, grated garlic, and cilantro. It was a tasty salad! The curry arrived in about 7-8 minutes after ordering. It contained chicken, spinach, and an egg similar to an omelet, topped with cilantro. The curry had a mild spiciness but a strong coconut flavor. It was rich and flavorful. Although I prefer spicy and sharp curries, this mild option was also enjoyable. I could understand why it was popular among women. The curry had a generous amount of ingredients, with lots of spinach and egg. The chicken was made of lean breast meat. The aroma of cilantro was appetizing. The rice portion was a bit small, so if you have a big appetite, you may want to opt for a large serving of rice.
