It was delicious. I wonder how many years it has been aged. I've always wanted to go there. Topping was so creamy at Sun Rasa in East Shinjuku, Tokyo. The address is 6-27-17 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, on the 3rd floor of Canopus Shinjuku. The mushroom curry and keema curry were amazing. The owner, Mariko, was kind and served a dessert with chewy dates and grapes. At the end, a cute cup of coffee was served. The cup was so cute that I tried to take it home, but they gave me a new one. How kind. They even wrote "reservation" as "god" and read it as "ato" for me. Thank you as always. We had a lot of nice conversations. After the curry lunch, I headed to Isetan.

I thoroughly enjoyed Mari's smile and delicious curry... I was so full that I felt like my stomach was going to burst. Today, there were many new reservations, including myself, and they kindly provided a recommended ordering method separate from the menu. I would love to visit again to enjoy Mari's smile and special delicious curry. Thank you for the meal♪

I recently discovered a restaurant near my workplace that I didn't notice before, even though it's a well-known place that has been featured on TV. I was able to make a reservation through their website, but it's always fully booked. However, I checked the day before going to work and luckily found an available spot. I made a reservation! I often eat Indian curry, so I had high expectations for their Achaar. When I arrived at the restaurant, I ordered the two curry options they had and they came out quickly. The taste was delicious. The fact that the owner is Japanese may have influenced the flavor, as it was suited to Japanese tastes.

Limited to 30 meals per day, with 10 meals available for reservation. Reservations can be made after 3:00 PM the day before. I made a reservation at 2:15 PM and arrived at the restaurant. Unfortunately, they were already sold out for the day. Today's menu was Baingan Kheema and Sweet Potato Dal, with the option to add the Shinmizu Kheema that I was curious about. The owner recommended the Roast Pork, which did not disappoint in terms of presentation and portion size. The Kheema, Dal, and Chicken were all incredibly delicious. While I usually prefer meat curries, the Sweet Potato Dal here was sweet and chunky with delicious sweet potatoes. I would love to try the Shinmizu Chicken as a main dish next time. The Kheema seemed like a classic dish, with a Thai vibe that added to its deliciousness. The accompanying bitter melon was not too bitter, which was a nice surprise. I really enjoy these non-watery curries. When I mentioned that I had to go back to work after eating, the lovely owner bid me farewell with a smile and a wave. Thank you for the meal!

I made a reservation online at 3:00 PM the day before and visited the restaurant. There was one customer already there around 11:00 AM, and soon after, four reserved customers arrived. A few customers without reservations also came, but they were asked to come back at a later time. The curry was served a few minutes after placing the order. The regular menu for the day was Edamame Chicken Keema and cold Ratatouille. I also added a small portion of children's rice and the remaining Pigeon and Nut Keema from the event menu. I passed on the grilled cheese, but the price remained the same. The Ratatouille had a slightly spicy taste, while the Keema was not very spicy and was enjoyed by mixing it with several types of pickles. However, I got a little tired of the Keema halfway through the meal, as it was Keema all the way. The overall flavors were quite mild, and the balance of flavors might have been better with the grilled cheese. Even though it was a small portion, the amount was quite generous. I would like to try a different combination next time.

Located about a 10-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station, this restaurant has been featured on various TV programs. Normally only open on weekdays, it can be a bit difficult to visit. However, I found out they were open on a holiday and was able to make a reservation in advance. Today, I ordered a two-item platter for 1400 yen and added a limited edition kebab as a topping. - Edamame Chicken Keema: A coarse ground chicken dish with large chunks of chicken, very meaty. It's not spicy, but has a nice spiciness and edamame flavor that is very tasty. - Ume Plum and Tomato Rasam: This cold rasam was a first for me, but it's quite refreshing on a hot day. It's not too sour and has a Japanese-style twist to it. Mixing it with the chicken keema enhances the flavor. - Other: The kebab, similar to a hamburger, has a hint of lamb flavor. The salad side dish is perfect for a palate cleanser. Lastly, I received a complimentary mini coffee at the end. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Thank you for the feast.

I had always wanted to go, but it seemed like the restaurant wasn't open regularly, so I finally managed to go. I made a reservation for one of the 10 available seats on the internet the day before at 3 pm. As soon as I entered, the owner was right in front of me at the counter, and he showed me to my seat. It was a standing-only style with only one chair in the back. It was face-to-face service, and the friendly owner was busy serving curry, taking orders, and handling payments. It seemed tough. For some reason, a regular customer took my order, so I just waited! The size of this place is great for being able to communicate with the owner. It felt like coming to my regular bar. I received recommendations for the day from the board, and I chose a combination of two different curries for today's special. Then I added toppings! There were various toppings to choose from, and I was torn between them. I shared the sliced roast beef and topped it with crispy plum and grated yam. I love the Keema curry, which is not spicy but has a strong flavor of spices, creating a mysterious deliciousness! It's not sweet, but the ingredients and spices harmonize perfectly. Even people who don't like spicy food can eat this curry. The beet potage was refreshing and delicious, I could drink it all day. The roast beef... it was heavenly! The flavor was so rich and tasty! I regretted sharing it. I devoured it. The owner suggested mixing the grated yam with the Keema, and it was delicious. I ate about half of the Keema and then mixed it in. It was so refreshing for summer! I will definitely go back to try other menu items!

Limited to 30 servings per day, Standing Curry is run by spice cuisine expert Mariko Lila. The owner, who operates the restaurant alone, adjusts the spice blend according to the season and weather. Finally, I had the opportunity to visit after making a reservation the day before. After climbing the stairs, I washed my hands at the sink on the right before entering. I was greeted with a cheerful voice. There was one customer already dining at the counter in front. Only the seat at the back had a chair, so I chose to sit there to enjoy my meal slowly. - Combination: Chicken Keema Curry & Cold Carrot Potage with Curry Flavor 1,400 yen - Topping: Achari Roast Pork 400 yen The salad with watercress and bitter melon was delightful with its acidity and bitterness. The Chicken Keema, made with plenty of ground chicken and fragrant spices, was beautifully put together. The turmeric rice complemented the curry perfectly. My hunger, which I had been holding back, escalated uncontrollably. The potage was best enjoyed by mixing it little by little. The soup was smooth with a hint of spice. The large thick slices of roast pork, two in total, were served. The owner even provided a bonus piece of pork. The meat was moist, tender, and the fat melted sweetly in the mouth. This topping is a must-have. I devoured the meal in no time, completely absorbed in the delicious flavors. After eating, we chatted for a bit and settled the bill. The owner, who is very friendly and cheerful, creates exceptional curry dishes. I definitely want to make another visit when I have the chance.

[Access] There is a curry restaurant near the Shinjuku 6-chome intersection, about a 14-minute walk from Shinjuku Station on various lines. [Operating hours and store] This time, I made a net reservation at 12:00 on a weekday before dining. When I entered the store, there were four people dining inside. The interior of the store is chic. There are no seats, so dining is done standing. ◾️PayPay payment ◾️Complimentary cold water ◾️Complimentary hot coffee after dining [Aigake + Daikon Achar / 1600 yen / tax included] The plate includes two types of curry, saffron rice, watercress salad, pickled bitter gourd, and topping of daikon achar. ▫️Keema Curry: Generous portion. It has a rich chicken flavor with a gentle spice. ▫️Cold Carrot Potage: Creamy curry. It is sweet with a hint of spice that you can enjoy later. It's more like a soup than a curry. This is delicious and I like it. ▫️Rice: Made with domestic rice. This slightly sweet rice goes well with the curry. ▫️Pickled Bitter Gourd: Crunchy texture that goes well with the curry. ▫️Watercress Salad: Enjoyed with a sweet dressing. ◾️Daikon Achar (topping): Crunchy texture with a good balance of sourness and saltiness. [Staff] The shop is run by a friendly female staff who engages in conversation. [Final thoughts] It's in the top 5000, and it will likely be awarded as one of the top 100 shops. This curry shop was featured on a TV show called "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai," which piqued my interest and led me to bookmark it. This shop effectively utilizes the limited space in the city center. It's a very narrow standing space, but it seems to be sustained by everyone's cooperation. And serving only 30 meals on weekdays is quite a challenge. It's tough for salarymen. Thank you for the meal. ◼️Distance from station: Far ◼️Queue: None ◼️Space: Narrow ◼️Price: Affordable ◼️Specialty: Standing spice curry Dining log rating: 3.81 No. 22072023

Lunch on 07/21 (Fri) at Higashi Shinjuku Sunlasser. Ordered the combination plate for 1,400 yen (Chicken Keema Curry & Cold Carrot Potage with Curry Flavor). Paid in cash. Made a reservation for 11:15. Excellent service, fast service, delicious food, good cold water, good portion size, good value for the price, nice touch with a small chocolate and coffee after the meal. The curry on its own is good, but the combination is even better with thoughtful pairings. Looking forward to trying their gentle curry again.

A curry restaurant in Higashi Shinjuku. It is open only from Tuesday to Friday, serving only 30 meals per day, making it a bit difficult to visit. However, you can make a reservation online for 10 meals starting from 3 PM the day before, so if you have a set date, you can visit with ease. On this day, I made a reservation online the night before. There were still seats available. When I arrived on time for my reservation, the friendly manager guided me to a seat at the back. The curry menu for the day was the classic Chicken Keema and chilled carrot potage. You could choose one or both, and I chose the combination of both. There was also a set option with plenty of burnt cheese and achar, which I should have chosen... The curry was served promptly. The plate included rice, a generous serving of Chicken Keema, a bowl of potage, bitter melon pickles, and a watercress salad. All this for 1400 yen is a great deal. Also, it's nice that they made the potage chilled for the summer. The Chicken Keema had a very gentle seasoning, which was really nice. It made me think of Dylan in Ochanomizu a little. I wish this place was closer to my workplace or home.

I went to Shinjuku to try Mariko's curry, with whom I had been in contact with recently. It's located near the Square Enix building, between Higashi-Shinjuku and Shinjuku Sanchome. You take the elevator up to the 3rd floor to reach the entrance of the restaurant. Inside, there is a counter where you place your order and eat standing up. I asked for Mariko's recommendation from the menu, and I got the Mariko Special (1,800 yen), which consisted of Chicken Keema and Potato Istew with Shin-Musubi Chicken Curry on top, along with various pickles called Achar. The salad had mango dressing, and there was a crispy pickled plum Achar as well. The curry on the left was the Achar. The daikon and carrot-like item was actually dried daikon! The chicken curry used both Keema and boneless chicken. The boneless chicken highlighted the deliciousness of the chicken, while the Keema provided a nice spice kick. Mixing all three curries and Achar together was delicious, especially with the strong presence of the boneless chicken. The daikon Achar was also tasty, with a good balance of acidity and crunch. The dessert "Chai" caught my eye, so I decided to try it as well.

I arrived at 1:30 as my reservation was successful. Today, I had the Sichuan Keema Curry and the Tomato, Eggplant, Zucchini Curry with Clam Achaar on top. The Sichuan flavor is subtle, and the vegetable curry has a deep richness. Even though they stand out individually, mixing them together enhances the umami. Mixing in the Clam Achaar adds a seafood element and increases the deliciousness. I didn't feel much spiciness, but the spices are strong, and I enjoyed the slow build-up of sweat on my scalp. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal. Thank you very much.

After conquering the Top 100 Curry Restaurants in Tabelog Curry 100 Best Shops 2022, I wanted to visit a highly-rated curry restaurant, so I marked this place! When I was researching, I found out that this restaurant has a lot of days off and only serves 30 portions, so it seemed quite challenging. ■ Tabelog TOP 5000 ■ Tabelog Visit Count 3.80 I was in the mood for curry since morning, and when I checked the restaurant's Twitter, it said it was not busy, so I decided to take a chance and arrived at the restaurant at 11:50 am. However, they were full at that time, but they said it would be okay by 12:30 pm, so I decided to wait nearby. The restaurant is located near the intersection of Shinjuku 6-chome. ※ 3F Canopus Shinjuku, 6-27-17 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo ※ 3 minutes walk from Exit E1 of Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line Shinjuku-sanchome Station ※ I arrived at the restaurant at 12:26 pm and entered the standing-style interior. ※ I ordered Today's Curry, By Mark Rookie Ma Curry for 1200 yen, Curry Flavored Egg for 100 yen, and Spiced Rolle for 200 yen, totaling 1500 yen. The rice was Saffron Rice with plenty of minced meat with By Mark (Cobmi Khan leaves) Kheema, Mizuna, Turnip, and Curry Flavored Egg separately served with Spiced Rolle on top. I took a bite of By Mark Kheema Curry! It was indeed full of meaty texture. Next, when I ate the curry on top of the curry-flavored egg, it was quite nice. The Spiced Rolle had bracken on top. The owner told me that it goes well when you pour it over the Kheema, so I tried it and it became milder. ※ I finished eating at 12:40 pm and paid 1500 yen with PayPay before leaving the restaurant. My impression after eating was that the owner is very service-oriented, as he noticed that there was some rice left and offered to add more chicken curry on top without any additional charge. How kind! It seems like a popular restaurant that has been featured in various media outlets. I would like to visit again next time for a different curry! Thank you for the meal! Thank you for reading until the end! If you could 'Like', 'Follow', 'Save the restaurant', or leave a 'Comment', it would be encouraging for me in the future, so thank you in advance!

I visited a standing curry restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from Higashi-Shinjuku Station, on the 3rd floor of a building behind the Nissin Foods headquarters. This shop used to operate as a pop-up curry shop in Kabukicho, but now has a permanent location with limited seating for 30 customers per day. They only open for lunch on Tuesdays to Fridays, making it a bit challenging to visit. I made a reservation the day before, as they accept reservations from 3 PM for the next day's 10 meals. The interior of the shop is standing-only, with one chair at the back where a pregnant woman was sitting, so I'm not sure if it's a special case or if they have added more seating. The dishes I tried were the By Mark Korma Curry, Edamame Curry, salad, pickled turnips, rice, and a mini coffee. The By Mark Korma Curry had a unique spice flavor from the By Mark Roo (kaffir lime leaves) floating in it, resembling Thai spices. The sweetness of the minced meat spread throughout the mouth after the initial mysterious spice taste, making it delicious. The Edamame Curry had a gentle flavor and was also tasty. The curry was so plentiful that I almost ran out of rice. It wasn't too spicy, but the spices used were comforting. Lastly, I was served a small coffee as a bonus. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Sunlaser in Shinjuku because I was able to get a reservation by chance ☺️ They said it's easy to get a reservation lately and they were quite free today because of the rain forecast ☔️ I had the Kobe mikan keema and new potato ishoo with date achar as an addition. Overall, the flavors were gentle, and the achar was sweet so I didn't really feel any spiciness. The spices were well balanced but it wasn't too spicy. I saw the bonito keema on TV and it caught my interest, but it seems like the keema changes monthly so I might aim for a different flavor next time. It's a stand-up style place, but the backmost seat doesn't require people passing behind, so there are chairs there, it's a very narrow space but the curry was authentic! I also had a hot coffee after the meal ☺️ Thank you for the meal~ ☕️ #Curry #ShinjukuGourmet #Sunlaser

Ayigake (1400 yen) by Mac Rookie Ma ⭐4.5 Pork keema using kaffir lime leaves. The gentle yet firm spice flavor complements the richness of the meat. The gentle spice sensation becomes addictive. New potato stew (coconut stew) ⭐4.3 After the gentle sweetness of coconut, a slight spiciness of green chili comes through. It has a light and refreshing taste that doesn't linger.

I enjoyed lunch at Sanraser, which I had been curious about for a while. I had the mixed curry with the recommended topping of udo by the owner. The curry consists of chicken keema generously sprinkled with nuts, and a veggie curry made with beets, black carrots, and beans. The keema is rich in spices and the nutty texture adds a nice touch. The veggie curry has a vibrant color but a gentle flavor, with a noticeable sweetness from the beans. The udo achaar also adds a nice acidity that complements the curry well! The keema changes monthly, and the curry it's paired with changes weekly. They also have cold curry in the summer. The owner is very friendly too! It was very delicious. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.
