Chicken Chicken Set Meal (with extra rice at the same price) for 990 yen + draft beer for 549 yen. With the transition from a state of emergency to a focus on prevention, restrictions are still in place, but alcohol can now be served, which is good news for those who enjoy a drink. However, the ongoing threat still lingers, creating a complex feeling. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the sign outside the restaurant that said, "Current Lunch Set Meal Available." I had never tried the lunch set meal at Toriyoshi Shoten before, so I was curious about their menu. While enjoying a drink, I browsed through the menu. It felt oddly satisfying to have a drink outside after a long time. Due to various circumstances, I had skipped lunch, so I wanted something hearty. I decided to try the "Chicken Chicken Set Meal," which includes chicken cutlet and fried chicken. You can choose two types of sauce, so I chose "Tartar Sauce" and "Oyster Sauce." The counter seats were empty, but the tables behind were full, with more customers coming in and being directed to the second-floor seats. It seemed like everyone was eager to have a drink outside. The set meal was served while the food was still hot. It had a good amount of food, and the rice was served in a large portion. Well, for a 990 yen set meal, you would expect a decent amount of food. I started with the fried chicken. It had a minimal seasoning, more like just the taste of the flour coating. It seemed like it was meant to be eaten with the sauce. That's why you can choose two types of sauce. I dipped it in the oyster sauce and took a bite. The chicken had a nice texture and juiciness. The flour coating mixed well with the sauce. It was a good combination. The chicken cutlet had a crispy and light coating. It was quite enjoyable. The tartar sauce surprisingly went well with it. The tartar sauce had a strong egg flavor, which was not bad. The rice was cooked quite soft. I prefer firmer rice, but it's a matter of personal preference. The portion was generous, with four pieces of fried chicken and a large chicken cutlet. It was satisfying in terms of portion size. However, for a 990 yen set meal, I expected a bit more. Maybe if it came with a side dish like simmered vegetables, it would have been better. Also, the pickled radish was not bad, but it looked a bit cheap. Overall, I was not completely satisfied, but I would consider coming back. Next time, I might try the "Chicken Soba" that caught my eye.
