[Overall Review] Personally, I wasn't a fan of "gyoza" (dumplings) in general, but the gyoza here was the first time I truly found them delicious. The outside was crispy, while the inside was juicy and rich. I couldn't stop ordering more gyoza because they were so tasty. This is not your average restaurant, and I think the rating of 3.09 (as of January 2012) is too low. [Atmosphere] It feels like a typical Chinese restaurant, but outside, it's covered with autographs of celebrities who have visited. [Recommended Age for Taste] All ages [Notes] None

I had a business trip to Tokyo and met up with one of my five high school bad friends. It was crowded even on a weekday, but luckily we found an empty table. I had a big disappointment with the ramen I had for lunch that day, so there was no room for mistakes during the reunion with my friends (laughs). Back when we were kids, this area was not famous for dumplings at all (laughs). However, after the return of the remaining orphans, restaurants started popping up slowly, and now it has become a well-known spot for dumplings. We ordered water dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, Sichuan-style mapo tofu, stir-fried chives with eggs, and stir-fried chives with liver. First, the water dumplings were served. Being used to Fukuoka's style, I was overwhelmed by their size (sweat). It was impossible to eat in one bite, but when I took a half bite, the chewy skin and the rich filling filled my mouth completely! And it was incredibly delicious! The skin was as chewy as the one at Gyoza no Sun, and it was delicious! Next, the pan-fried dumplings were served. I had high expectations for these too! And just like the water dumplings, they were huge (sweat). When I took a half bite, the crispy outside and chewy skin texture, along with the rich filling, made it another mouth-watering experience. The dumplings alone won me over (laughs). Next, the Sichuan-style mapo tofu was served. As expected from Sichuan-style, it was a bit spicy, but it lacked the heat for me. However, the taste was really delicious! This moment made me realize that it wasn't just about the dumplings (laughs). After that, we had the stir-fried chives with eggs and stir-fried chives with liver, which were also very delicious. While enjoying the delicious food, time with my bad friends passed by in the blink of an eye. No matter how much time we had, it wasn't enough. The lunchtime mishap with the ramen was more than compensated for. The town has changed a lot since we were kids, but it still had a calming atmosphere and the delicious food we enjoyed with our friends was more than enough. The local dumplings, with their taste, cost, and portion size all in harmony, made me seriously think about where my life's final destination might be, at an age where such thoughts are starting to become real. The dumplings were so delicious that it really hit home for me. I will definitely visit again. It was truly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Second stop on the Kamata Gyoza Tour: Grilled Gyoza for 380 yen Fried Rice for 630 yen Stir-fried Meat and Vegetables for 750 yen I arrived at 5:00 pm and was lucky to find a seat without having to wait. The gyoza was quite large, filled with juicy pork and had a satisfying bite. The wings were nicely crispy. It was delicious. The fried rice was light and fluffy with a familiar seasoning. It was tasty. The stir-fried meat and vegetables had plenty of bean sprouts and a strong garlic flavor. There are still many Chinese restaurants in Kamata that I would like to visit, so I hope to return again.

It's been a while since I got off at Kamata Station. I wonder how many years it has been since I last visited Oimori and Kawasaki. When it comes to Kamata, there is a restaurant called "Nihao" known as the birthplace of wing-tipped dumplings. I went there, but the line was too long. The famous Harukaen, a relative of mine, had a 30-minute wait, so I put my name down and waited. Finally, when I got in, I ordered a variety of dumplings - pan-fried, steamed, boiled, and shrimp dumplings. The shrimp dumplings were especially delicious today. The plump shrimp was exquisite. I was very satisfied with the combination of beer and dumplings.

The 3-story seating area is very spacious, with rotating round tables that seem to be for sharing seats. I was dining alone, but I couldn't tell if it was just for lunch. I ordered the ramen and grilled dumplings set for lunch, and it was served in less than 5 minutes. The ramen had a light, clam-like soy flavor. The dumplings were shaped like buns and filled with juicy chicken meat. Everything had a gentle taste, not too salty, and made me feel warm and cozy.

[Revisit] August 2023. It had been a while since I last visited for lunch. The restaurant was bustling with families on summer vacation. I ordered the classic Cold Chinese Noodles for 850 yen, which came with vinegar soy sauce. It was a simple and traditional dish. The Five Ingredient Fried Rice for 630 yen was moist and fluffy, but the taste was a bit too simple. I decided to try the Gyoza for 480 yen, even though the Dumplings are the popular choice. It took a while for them to arrive as they seemed to be frozen. The thin skin had a meaty flavor, and a crispy texture, perhaps from the cabbage. It was disappointing that the bottled beer was not very cold. Overall, it is still a popular Chinese restaurant with good value for money.

The yakisoba in the lunch set is yakisoba with a five-ingredient sauce, which includes thinly sliced pork and seafood. The grilled gyoza has a chewy skin and juicy filling, making it of high quality. It's a place known for its dumplings. I was very hungry and went inside the restaurant. The place was packed, all the way up to the third floor. I was excited to see they had a 3850 yen all-you-can-eat and drink option. I didn't have high expectations for this price, but I decided to give it a try. I ordered some Shaoxing wine and eagerly awaited the dumplings. They were huge, juicy, and delicious. I couldn't stop eating with my chopsticks and drinking. I also tried other dishes and everything was amazing. This place exceeded my expectations for a 3850 yen all-you-can-eat and drink deal. I will definitely visit again when I'm in Kamata in the future.

I visited the Chinese restaurant "Shunkaen" located a 5-minute walk from Keikyu Kamata station with a friend for a casual drink. This place has everything you could ask for in Chinese cuisine - hearty dishes, quick service, and delicious flavors. What surprised me the most was the size and quantity of each dish! The cost performance is amazing! The dumplings, in particular, are large and packed with filling, providing a satisfying meal. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong. It's a great restaurant! We enjoyed Kirin Ichiban Shibori beer.

I visited a popular restaurant in Kamata. Shortly after opening, the first floor was already full. I ordered pan-fried dumplings, steamed shrimp dumplings, and spring rolls. The pan-fried dumplings had a thick, chewy skin with plenty of filling. It seems that this is the basic style of dumplings in Kamata. The steamed shrimp dumplings were filled with plenty of chives. I tried dumplings at three places in Kamata, but this one was my favorite. Thank you for the meal.

I have visited three out of the four famous gyoza restaurants in Kamata, but this was my first time at "Shunkaen." I tried their grilled gyoza, which was quite large in size. The thick and chewy skin was filled with juicy meat, and the soup was generous, similar to xiaolongbao. I recommend eating it while it's hot, despite the risk of burning your mouth. Personally, this might be my favorite among the four gyoza restaurants in Kamata. The wings were a bit thick and lacked a crispy texture. I also ordered the century egg and XO sauce stir-fry, which was average. Overall, I think this place is best for those who come mainly for the gyoza. Many customers were enjoying the lunch sets (choose from around 5 options), which all looked delicious. I would like to try them someday. I highly recommend the gyoza for those who enjoy a chewy texture. Thank you for the meal!

I stayed at a hotel near Kamata Station to catch an early morning flight to Ishigaki Island, so I visited this restaurant to satisfy my craving for gyoza after a long time. I enjoyed my favorite draft beer (also tried Qingdao bottled beer) along with grilled chicken wing gyoza, boiled gyoza, Sichuan-style mapo tofu, and leek with egg. I was feeling hot and thirsty, so I quickly finished my draft beer and ordered another one. When the boiled gyoza arrived, I dipped it in vinegar and chili oil. It was chewy and delicious. The grilled chicken wing gyoza was also served, and I dipped it in the same sauce. The crispy skin and generous filling made it so tasty. The Sichuan-style mapo tofu was delicious, but I felt like it could have been spicier for my taste. The leek with egg dish was also very tasty. It was an excellent meal. Solo dining at a Chinese restaurant in the city. I had some pan-fried dumplings at "Shunkaen Kamata Store" located at 5-22-1 Kamata, Ota-ku, Tokyo. They are winged dumplings, chewy and juicy. I had 5 pieces for 380 yen including tax. I also had mapo tofu, which wasn't too spicy and had a generous portion for 750 yen including tax. Shunkaen Kamata Store is a popular restaurant established in 1931, with autographs of famous people displayed inside. They also have a branch at Haneda Airport. The sister store is Kinharu Honkan. The restaurant was quite crowded, so I had to wait a bit before being seated. I had two glasses of Kirin Ichiban Shibori beer in a medium-sized glass for 580 yen each including tax. They offer other drinks like Tsingtao beer, draft beer, and sours. They also have a variety of fruit wines, Shaoxing wine, and a selection of wines. The food menu is diverse, but the recommended dish is definitely the pan-fried dumplings. The mapo tofu I had was 750 yen including tax, but they also offer Sichuan-style mapo tofu for 850 yen including tax, which is likely spicier. Enjoying a cold beer in the hot summer is the best. The Kirin Ichiban Shibori beer was perfect. The pan-fried dumplings I had were thick and juicy, with a chewy skin and a satisfying meaty filling. They go well with beer. Having beer, dumplings, and mapo tofu in the hot summer was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

We ordered grilled dumplings, boiled dumplings, stir-fried water spinach, and fried rice, and they tasted just like the authentic flavors we had in Shanghai. Over half of the customers were Chinese locals, which I think proves the authenticity of the taste. Each dish costs around 1,000 yen, but they come in generous portions, so it's perfect for sharing with a few people.

The gyoza with wings here is incredibly delicious! In Kamata, there are many delicious gyoza restaurants like Nihao, Kinchun, and Kangei, but this place has great gyoza and all other menu items are delicious with excellent value for money. I came here with my family for lunch and it's perfect for a large group to eat to their heart's content!

I visited this place as a second stop on a Saturday night. The restaurant is spacious, so even on busy days, it seems like you can get a table. Gyoza is always a good choice no matter when you eat it. The famous gyoza in Kamata never disappoints. Other dishes are also satisfying at a decent level of Chinese cuisine in town.

I used it for lunch. I thought it was a round table, but because there were too many people, we were seated in a tatami room. The all-you-can-eat and drink for 3800 yen is quite a deal. Even though the staff said they didn't understand Japanese, they were actually quite fluent. Since it's a Chinese restaurant, each dish comes in a substantial portion. The dumplings are especially delicious.

This is a plus one restaurant from the three major gyoza shops, Harukoen, in Kamata. It was the second stop after Torimane. The beer and gyoza with peanuts were a perfect match. I visited the restaurant "Shunkaen Kamata" which was selected as one of the top 100 gyoza restaurants in 2021 and 2019. It is located near JR Kamata Station, with a flashy exterior in a dining street. The interior has table seats on the first floor and a second floor as well. This restaurant is known for its delicious Chinese cuisine, offering tasty fried rice and large pan-fried gyoza with crispy skin. The simple dishes really bring out the flavors, with tasty skin and filling in the gyoza. I can see why this place is popular and I would love to visit again at night. It's a great restaurant.

I tried to go to a curry restaurant at 11:00 on Saturday, but there was a line of over 30 people and I felt discouraged. I decided to walk around and stumbled upon this restaurant! When I entered, only about 30% of the seats were taken. I ordered chicken wing gyoza for 360 yen and a highball for 480 yen. The highball seemed more like shochu than whiskey. The chicken wing gyoza was delicious with thick meat filling. It was really good! Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back again!

The sacred place for salarymen! Kamata in Ota Ward, Tokyo! It was a long time since we gathered around the round table for a banquet. The specialty at "Shunkoen" is the gyoza! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside! In addition, we also had cashew nut stir-fried chicken, oil-drizzled chicken, spring rolls, and mapo tofu! Everything was delicious. The restaurant is a towering 3-story building in the bustling entertainment district of Kamata. Every floor was crowded with customers. Today, I visited here for a gyoza tour in Kamata, and this is the third stop. It was just before 8 pm on a Sunday, and there was no wait. The restaurant is a three-story building, and I chose a table on the somewhat empty third floor. I ordered gyoza and mapo harusame, and I also got a Qingdao beer. - Grilled Gyoza 320 yen (excluding tax): The skin is crispy and fragrant, thinner compared to other gyoza in Kamata, and the filling is generous! It has a lot of bite and a good meaty texture, with a strong umami flavor. I really like the gyoza here, it's so good that you just want to bite into it. - Mapo Harusame 600 yen (excluding tax): This is truly drinkable harusame. It has a smooth and slippery texture, easy to eat. The spiciness is quite strong, and I started sweating a bit. Thank you for the meal!
