I found this place on Instagram and it's a traditional house with a garden, just a short walk from the main street. It doesn't feel like Ikebukuro at all. I visited on a weekend afternoon and had to wait for about an hour to get in, but I enjoyed waiting while looking at the garden. The matcha terrine was rich and perfect for matcha lovers!

I was surprised by how delicious the desserts were at the temporary store in the basement of Shinjuku Takashimaya. The matcha terrine was just right, not too sweet, with a strong matcha flavor. Even without matcha, I'm sure it would still be delicious. The matcha latte was balanced well with the terrine's sweetness, so you can drink it as is without syrup. Although there were few seats and it felt a bit hectic, everything was so delicious that I want to come back for more.

After about 30 minutes, we decided to leave. We walked a bit and then explored the Seibu and Tobu department stores in Ikebukuro, bought some snacks, but I was getting tired. So we headed back to my daughter's place, which was just a 10-minute walk away from the department stores. It's a convenient location, unlike my home where it takes an hour and a half by car to get to the department store.

The number of seats is limited, so I waited for about an hour in the early afternoon, but it was worth it! I was able to spend a luxurious time feeling the Japanese atmosphere in a semi-private tatami room. However, the wait can be quite long, so I think it's better to avoid it if you're in a hurry. ⭕️

I ordered a hot cafe latte and cheese terrine. The cheese terrine was moist with a hint of lemon, and I was able to enjoy it without feeling too heavy.

I went to a popular old house cafe in Ikebukuro based on my daughter's recommendation. I entered a quiet space through a narrow alley off Yomachi Street. There were two groups ahead of me, but I was able to get inside in about 20 minutes. It was a cool and peaceful atmosphere here. (Although it's hot outside) The hojicha terrine was heavy and intense. I didn't even know there was such a quaint old house like this.

It was a calm atmosphere in a shop that you wouldn't expect to find in Ikebukuro. The matcha terrine had an intense matcha flavor unlike anything I've had before, and the matcha latte was easy to drink with just the right amount of sweetness. The seasonal limited edition Japanese red tea cassata was refreshing and delicious. We arrived at the shop around 1 pm and there were about 8 groups ahead of us waiting. We were seated around 3 pm. Even after we were seated, many more people came to the shop, so I think it's better to go in the morning or early afternoon.

The cream cheese-like richness comes in afterwards, with a subtle sweetness that makes it refreshing and easy to eat. It is smooth, slightly sticky, and addictive. I was curious about the cherry blossom flavor after enjoying the matcha Terinne, and visiting was definitely the right choice. I plan to come back again when they have new Terinne flavors. The Americano was a bit strong at first, but it paired perfectly with the Terinne when I drank it after. It's a bit bitter, which I personally think complements sweet treats well.
