It was so delicious... The lingering aftertaste stayed with me on the way home. The interior of the restaurant was like a preserved Showa-era coffee shop, and although it was full, I was the only one in line. I decided to go for the 3 curry dish set for 1,500 yen. The three curries of the day were MANOS Chicken Curry, Thai Pork Keema with Buri and Spinach, and Pork Curry with Leeks and Parsley. The menu had a slightly unique aroma. While waiting, I noticed a sign on the wall for "Spicy Keema Topping with Stimulating and Umami Flavor." Yes, I added that too. The curry was served with a dome-shaped rice in the center, surrounded by the three different curries and side dishes. The curries were connected with no boundaries in between. It reminded me of the spice curry in Osaka, like the ones at Ban Ban. The owner seemed to have roots in Osaka and was associated with the former Yamu residence. All the curries had a moderate amount of oil. The chicken curry had a good balance of richness and spices, and the daikon radish as curry ingredients was excellent! I love daikon radish in curry unconditionally. The buri, spinach, and Thai Pork Keema were tender, and I wondered if they used coconut milk, but it didn't taste very Thai-like, and the Keema was not very Keema-like, more of a watery curry. The leeks, parsley, and kiritanpo with shirataki noodles were good. It was my first time having curry with shirataki noodles. And yes, the kiritanpo was indeed in there. It all worked well together without any discomfort. Whether it was an intuitive idea or a calculated combination, everything was very delicious. Oh, the optional spicy Keema didn't have as much heat as I expected, but it added depth and umami to the base. It was a diagonal attack of three delicious curries. Each one was so good that I didn't mix them consciously. I paid with PayPay and ended up becoming a fan, even getting a T-shirt!

I visited the restaurant on a Friday, which is usually their day off, but they were open due to summer vacation. I ordered the High Collar Curry and Lemon Curry, which are apparently in the top 3 most popular dishes according to their Instagram. The Lemon Curry was a big hit - having hot curry with a lemon flavor in the heat of summer was fantastic. This restaurant changes its menu regularly, so it's important to choose carefully to avoid any disappointments. Overall, the Lemon Curry was excellent!

I visited on a regular day and there were about 4 people in line. The menu was different from usual due to the store's anniversary. The owner was friendly and pleasant. I ordered the Chicken Wing Yogic Curry. It was a curry with a lemony and spicy flavor. Next time, I would like to try the regular menu Chicken Curry.

It seems that it was the perfect day to start offering a special menu for the 4th anniversary, so I was led to Sangenchaya. The special menu included three dishes: Budae Jjigae Curry, Chicken Wing Yogurt Lemon Curry, and Kansai-style Hai Kara Meat Broth Curry with Onsen Tamago and less rice. These dishes were selected based on the popularity vote from customers. The third place Budae Jjigae Curry had a Korean-inspired taste with spam, sausages, kimchi, shiitake mushrooms, and vegetables. It didn't seem too spicy at first, but the spiciness kicked in later. The second place Chicken Wing Yogurt Lemon Curry had a refreshing lemony taste, perfect for summer. And the shining first place Kansai-style Hai Kara Meat Broth Curry was a sweet and savory curry with beef belly and broth extract. All three dishes were from the menu a few years back, and it was interesting to see the results of the vote, which made me wonder if the regular customers have been coming back unchanged over the years. The special menu opening was a bit delayed due to preparation, but they had a system where you could leave your contact information and they would notify you when there was an opening. It was a nice service, especially in the heat.

Visit date: 7/23/2023 Visited the restaurant for the first time today as I had been curious about it from reading reviews. I didn't make a reservation but was able to get in smoothly with just one group waiting ahead of me. The interior was quiet and had a very nice atmosphere. The food was delicious, just as it was praised in the reviews. The service was also polite and good. I would like to come back to eat here again.

The moment I took a bite, the aroma of spices spread. The definite spiciness and flavor of curry combined to create a happiness-inducing deliciousness. The photo shows the classic MANOS chicken curry and the seasonal limited edition yuzu and winter melon curry. The yuzu and winter melon curry was refreshing and had a taste that could become addictive.

I went to a curry restaurant called MANOSMANOS in Sangenjaya and tried their Chicken Curry and Early Summer Squid Pork Curry combo for 1400 yen. The place had high ratings on Tabelog, so I was curious to try it out for lunch. When I arrived around 1:00 PM, there were only 2 groups ahead of me in line. I chose Jasmine rice with my curry, and the complex blend of spices in both curries was delicious.

"Manos, a creation curry restaurant in Sangenjaya, offers two types of curry dishes. I tried the chicken and keema curry with an onsen egg for an additional 150 yen. I also had an iced chai. The flavors were outstanding, exactly what I was looking for in terms of spiciness. The keema curry had a warm, comforting touch with a Japanese-style grated radish. The Manos chicken curry, which bears the restaurant's name, had a strong spice profile with large chunks of ingredients and a slightly spicy kick that was really delicious. I arrived around 13:30 and had to wait a bit before being seated, but it was worth it. I noticed that larger groups behind me had a longer wait time, so I recommend arriving with some extra time to spare. The restaurant has a counter, as well as tables for 4 and 2 people."

The set includes two types of dishes: Nagaimo and Burdock Japanese-style grated keyma, and MANOS chicken curry, topped with a hot spring egg. The menu names like Nagaimo, Burdock, and grated are not the only unique ingredients, but also the side dishes like edamame and daikon in the chicken dish. The spiciness is strong, but it is balanced out by the ingredients and the hot spring egg. The presentation and balance of the dishes are excellent.

Today's lunch was here. This popular restaurant is run by a chef who used to work at a famous restaurant in Shimokitazawa. Located about a 10-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station, there was a line forming 5 minutes before opening. Although the opening time was delayed by about 10 minutes, everyone in line was able to be seated. After that, there were constantly 3 to 4 groups waiting outside. The curry menu includes regular, weekly specials, and monthly specials, so even repeat customers won't get tired of it. I decided to try the 3-curry plate. Since I had plans to eat ramen afterwards, I asked for a smaller portion of rice. You can choose between jasmine rice and brown rice. The 3-curry plate costs 1,600 yen including tax and includes: - Regular: MANOS Chicken Curry - Monthly special: Pine Chutney Black Vinegar Pork Keema - Weekly special: Spring Cabbage, Shirasu, and Bacon Curry - Onsen Tamago (soft-boiled egg) for 150 yen including tax - Cilantro for 250 yen including tax The food arrived in about 15 minutes, and the soft-boiled egg came in a separate dish. First, I tried the regular MANOS Chicken Curry. It was a chunky curry with chicken and daikon, based on Japanese dashi. It had a gentle and comforting taste with a perfect harmony of spices and broth. The flavors were well infused into the ingredients. Next, I tried the monthly special Pine Chutney Black Vinegar Pork Keema. Although it was a keema curry, it had a chunky texture with a non-viscous consistency. The mild acidity of black vinegar and the umami of pork blended well together. The sweet and sourness of the pine chutney added a unique twist to the dish. Lastly, I tasted the weekly special Spring Cabbage, Shirasu, and Bacon Curry. It had the mildest flavor among the three, and personally, it was my favorite. The sweetness of the spring cabbage and the smokiness of the bacon were exquisite. The combination of spring cabbage, shirasu, and bacon reminded me of the common ingredients in spaghetti aglio e olio, and surprisingly, it worked really well in curry too! I thoroughly enjoyed mixing and matching the curries, and finished every last bit. It was a delightful meal! The chef's skills and sense, honed at a famous restaurant, were truly impressive. I look forward to visiting again to try different curries. I definitely want to come back. *Visited -> Rating 3.62

I visited the restaurant around 1 pm on a holiday and was able to get a table within 10 minutes. [Order Menu] 3 kinds of curry for 1500 yen, MANOS Chicken Curry, MANOS Butter Chicken Keema, Weekly Special Curry with Spring Cabbage, Squid, and Beef Tripe. The Chicken Curry had a spicy Indian curry flavor similar to Chicken Tikka, which was the most familiar taste for beginners. The Butter Chicken Keema was light despite being a keema dish with chicken. The weekly special curry was packed with ingredients, including beef tripe and not just intestines but also honeycomb tripe. It had a squid and coconut flavor. As a beginner to spicy curry, I found it easy to eat. I would like to try a different weekly special curry next time.

Two types of curry were delicious. I chose butter chicken and chicken curry, and the chicken was chunky and tasty, with just the right amount of spiciness. They also have weekly curry specials, so I definitely want to revisit and try their different menu options each week.

It takes about 20 minutes from Shimokitazawa Station, but it's closer from Sankenchaya. I learned from last time that the seating is limited, so I visited right at opening time. There were already two groups waiting! Luckily, we were able to get in after the first round. The interior has counter seats and table seats. They offer three types of curry: chicken, monthly special, and weekly special. We ordered a combination of chicken curry and the weekly special octopus and clam curry. You can choose between brown rice and jasmine rice, and we chose jasmine rice. The timing from ordering to serving was quite random, with some getting their orders quickly and others waiting longer. If you're sitting at the same table, they bring out the dishes at the same time. (By the way, the interior is quite dark, so it's hard to see the colors of the curry. I personally think that the colors are more enjoyable during the day, so if it's your first time, lunchtime might be more exciting.) The chicken curry had big chunks of chicken and a nice crispy flavor. It was quite spicy, but the deliciousness overpowers the spiciness. The jasmine rice was cooked on the firmer side. It didn't have a strong jasmine flavor, so it was hard to tell. There are various side menu options to enjoy with the curry. The octopus and clam curry had a seafood broth flavor, which was interesting because it was both Japanese-style and spicy. Lastly, we mixed the two curries together. Just like last time, I started sweating towards the end of the meal. It's a curry that makes you feel energized. They also offer takeout, but I recommend dining in to enjoy the beautifully presented curry. The quality at this price point is impressive. So far, this is my favorite curry place in the area!

Two kinds of curry (1,300 yen) Monthly special: Adult lamb and pork keema with cocoa mint Weekly special: Simmered quail egg in Japanese mustard sweet soy sauce Pork curry (2/21-27) The simmered egg was made with quail eggs. The unique spice flavor during the meal and the refreshing lingering spice sensation afterwards were irresistible. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

This is a restaurant located about a 15-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station. It seems you can also take a bus to get there, which might be a good option. The interior of the restaurant has a counter and table seating, and it's not a very large place. As soon as you enter, the smell of curry fills the air and instantly boosts your mood. The seating is somewhat small and cozy. The menu consists of classic dishes as well as a few other options. I was intrigued by the "Cacao Mint Adult Mutton & Pork Keema Curry" and the "Pork Ginger Stir-fry with Celery and Dashi Curry," so I decided to order both. These were curries I had never heard of before, which made me feel curious. The dishes arrived shortly after. They were beautifully presented with various side dishes. Each bite was delicious, from the crispy bits to everything else. At first, I ate each curry separately, but towards the end, I followed the recommendation to mix them together, and it was delightful. The flavors were unique, and I could taste a variety of spices, which made me feel good. It was spicy, so I started sweating. Even though the two curries had completely different flavors, they were still undeniably curries, which was intriguing. I couldn't help but wonder how they managed to create such dishes. I had a great time enjoying these delicious and exciting curries until the end. This place has become one of my recommended curry spots in Shimokitazawa, and I definitely want to visit again!

I heard a rumor that there is a curry restaurant run by someone from the "Old Yam Residence Shimokita Manor," and finally visited. It's a common situation where you feel like you can visit anytime because it's nearby, but you end up not being able to go, right? It's a 10-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station, about 4 minutes from Awashima Street. When I arrived around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, there were 7 people waiting. It's clear that it's popular. The interior of the restaurant is not very large, with 3 tables and 4 counter seats. When I entered, there were a few empty tables, as it seemed like they were guiding customers based on when the curry was ready. The menu consists of three types of curry: regular, monthly special, and weekly special. I chose the regular MANOS Chicken Curry, and the weekly special Sweet Soy Sauce Simmered Egg Pork Curry. Both curries were delicious, with a hint of the unique spiciness of Japanese mustard and a rich spiciness. The ingredients were chunky and satisfying. The combination of Japanese mustard, vegetables, and ingredients that are not usually found in curry reflects the origin of the Yam Residence. Since they have monthly and weekly specials, I would like to visit again on a day when my favorite curry is available. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant MANOS as my second choice after Shibakariwara in Sangenjaya was closed for renovation. The name MANOS comes from the Spanish word for "many hands" and is also inspired by a bar in the manga "Laughing Salesman" by Fujiko F. Fujio. I ordered the 3 kinds of curry set for 1500 yen, with an extra serving of jasmine rice for an additional 100 yen. The staff explained that I should mix all the curries together to enjoy the different flavors. I started by crushing some Indian papadum over the rice and tried the pork keema curry first, followed by the dal and mutton curry. I also enjoyed the cumin edamame and achar as additional accents. Mixing everything together, I savored the harmonious blend of spices in the curry. It was a delicious meal! 🍛

Weekend. It was quite crowded, and more and more people kept coming, but unfortunately it sold out halfway through! Just made it in time to get one! The flavor was spicy and intense! Bold! Some may find that the spices are a bit overpowering, but it was delicious! However, it seems like the taste could be divisive depending on personal preferences. The fact that the popular chicken dish was sold out was a major disappointment! I'm curious to try it next time though!

We arrived at 11:20 on Saturday, just 10 minutes before opening, but there was already one group ahead of us. Three more groups lined up behind us soon after. Both my husband and I ordered the 3 kinds of curry. We had to wait for about 20 minutes after ordering, but when our curry finally arrived, it was delicious despite being spicy. It had a variety of vegetables in it. You could choose between brown rice and jasmine rice for the side, so my husband chose brown rice and I chose jasmine rice. It had been a while since I had such delicious curry that suited my taste. I became even more of a curry enthusiast and decided to come back again.

A chef who used to work at the old Yamu residence opened a creative curry restaurant in 2019 along Chazawa Street. The menu consists of three types: Classic Chicken Curry, Monthly Cocoa Mint Lamb & Pork Keema, and Weekly Chicken and Mackerel Creamy Curry. Prices range from 1100 to 1500 yen depending on the number of curry types ordered. Additional toppings like hot spring egg and cilantro are available for extra cost. Keema rice can be chosen from Jasmine rice or brown rice, and extra portions are available for an additional 100 yen. I tried the Chicken Curry and the Weekly Curry with Chicken and Mackerel. It was my first time trying the combination of mackerel and chicken, and the spices were used perfectly to create a complex and delicious flavor. I personally enjoyed the Classic Chicken Curry more.
