I visited Lumine Est Shinjuku store located at 3-38-1 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, B1F, near the East exit of JR Shinjuku Station. I arrived on Sunday at 9:19 am to have breakfast. I purchased a ticket for Chilled Special Honjin Soba/Udon for 720 yen and added extra noodles for 120 yen at the ticket machine near the entrance. I handed the ticket to the staff at the pick-up counter and requested soba. There was one couple ahead of me. During my stay, four men and another couple arrived. The staff consisted of one man and one woman, both of whom appeared to be foreigners. The dining area had no background music. My order was ready at 9:22 am, so I received it and enjoyed my meal at the counter seat without chairs. The noodles were thin and smooth, with a refreshing texture. The broth was traditional yet perfectly seasoned with salt. The toppings included tempura crumbs, mountain vegetables, chopped green onions, seaweed, and fried tofu. The sweet fried tofu paired well with the broth. Overall, it was a delicious meal. Thank you.

After taking out the morning garbage, I headed to Kago Hara Station on Route 17... It's a bit crowded, huh... The transfer to the Saikyo Line at Akabane is as packed as ever... Not fun! After finishing work and having some free time at 13:50, I had some time before heading to Kago Hara, so I decided to have a snack here ♡ Chilled grated daikon and eggplant tempura soba for 650 yen. The soba and soup were so-so ♡ As for the snack... well, what happened to the eggplant tempura? Come on, step up your game! Rating: 3.29 stars, 190 people.

I exited from the East exit of Shinjuku Station and found this ramen shop in a corner of Lumine Est, across from Belc. It was a weekday morning, so the place was empty. I bought a ramen ticket for 580 yen and handed it over at the counter. It's convenient that they accept Suica. After waiting for about 3 minutes, my ramen was ready. The appearance was like traditional ramen, neatly presented. The light and fragrant soup had a subtle taste of bonito, and the thin noodles had a smooth texture. The toppings included chashu, green onions, bamboo shoots, egg, and bean sprouts, which was a bit unusual. They were all decent but not outstanding. To be honest, it felt like they neatly prepared a frozen ramen from a convenience store, but this light ramen was comforting. I quickly finished my meal and left feeling satisfied. Now, off to work.

This is a shop that has been around for quite a long time at Shinjuku Station, but this was my first visit. I arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday. There were two ticket vending machines at the entrance of the shop, offering a wide variety of items. It was a scorching hot day, so I had already decided to go for a cold dish. After some contemplation, I decided on the cold mountain vegetable soba. It cost 600 yen. I handed over the ticket, waited for it to be prepared, and then proceeded to the back of the shop to receive my order. The interior of the shop was long and surprisingly spacious, with a large number of seats. As for the soba itself, the first thing that caught my eye was the generous amount of dipping sauce. Cold soba dishes often come with a small amount of sauce, but this shop's cold soba had plenty. It was perfect for someone like me who enjoys finishing the sauce. The sauce was based on bonito dashi and was quite delicious. The ample amount of mountain vegetables in the dish was also a pleasant surprise.

I visited the restaurant a little before noon. Surprisingly, it was not crowded. While all the other restaurants in Keio Mall had lines, the lack of people here made me feel suspicious. I bought a ticket at the entrance. The staff member was a bit limited in Japanese, but it wasn't a problem. In fact, they even asked if I wanted to add grated wasabi, which was a nice touch. It was the first time I encountered a restaurant offering such service. I ordered the cold dipping soba. It came with fried tempura flakes, chopped seaweed, green onions, and wasabi as condiments. It was a simple dish. The soba noodles were normal thickness with a good texture. They seemed to be made with a mix of regular and buckwheat flour. The dipping sauce had a gentle flavor with a hint of salt. It might not be enough for those working in the heat. Overall, it was a convenient restaurant, especially when combined with the neighboring BERG.

Located in the Komatsu Building at the entrance of Kabukicho Ichibangai, there is a standing soba restaurant called "Shinshu Soba Honjin." This restaurant is well-known among people using the east exit of Shinjuku Station, located just across from Belk. The entrance of the store has two large ticket machines, and the interior is bright, with many female customers. Although the sign at the entrance says "standing and freshly boiled," there are chairs at the counter tables in the back where customers can sit and eat. On a hot summer day, it's nice to have a quick meal here. I recently tried the Tempura Soba and today I had the "Chilled Spicy Meat Soba" and Inari Sushi, which I had been curious about. Both are popular menu items here, but personally, I found the Tempura Soba more delicious. However, on hot days, dishes like the chilled spicy meat soba seem to sell well. This summer has been particularly hot, with July being the hottest month on record in Japan according to the Japan Meteorological Agency's data analysis as reported by Asahi Shimbun Digital.

I used it during my work break. It is a standing soba restaurant located in the Lumine Est directly connected to Shinjuku Station. It was around 2:00 PM on a weekday, a slightly late lunch time, and there were no other customers. I was a bit lost looking at the variety of options on the ticket machine near the entrance, but I chose the cold kitsune soba. I handed the ticket to the staff and it was served in about 4-5 minutes, but the green onions were slightly spicy and the broth was a bit light in flavor. The fried tofu had a slight sweetness and was decently tasty, but the soba itself was a bit overcooked and the broth was lacking in flavor. It's cheap, but the quality is average for the price. I don't think I'll visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I have no time to eat lunch at all. My next appointment is coming up soon... At times like this, standing and eating soba is a godsend. The croquette soba for 550 yen is a bit expensive, but it's the only choice! I sprinkle plenty of shichimi and devour it in one go. I'm glad I didn't miss out on lunch. I'll definitely be stopping by again =)

Just outside the east exit of JR Shinjuku Station, there is a standing soba noodle shop. It's located right in front of the popular cafe, Berg, where you can enjoy beer and Western cuisine. In contrast to the unique Berg, this place has a more traditional standing soba noodle shop vibe. The menu is quite extensive compared to other chain stores. I often visit this place for a quick breakfast before work, and it seems like many other customers are also salarymen and office ladies. On this particular day, I ordered cold mountain vegetable soba with a hot spring egg topping from the ticket machine. The food was served within a minute of handing over my ticket. I poured some ice water from the water server, stood at the counter, and enjoyed my meal. The taste was exactly what you would expect from a standing soba noodle shop, but I don't dislike it. The mountain vegetables had a flavor that you wouldn't find in traditional soba shops, but I actually quite liked it. In recent years, standing soba noodle chain stores in urban areas have been offering more authentic, firm-textured soba noodles, but this place serves the old-fashioned standing soba noodles. However, before a busy day at work, maybe this kind of taste is just what you need... It's strange how it starts to make sense.

Lunch at Shinjuku Station. I had a quick meal at this place in front of Belk. I added grated daikon radish to my mountain vegetable udon. Sometimes I just crave udon. The Kanto-style broth is rich and the noodles are soft. There's plenty of mountain vegetables and wakame seaweed in it. The convenience of being able to eat quickly at a standing eatery. Thank you for the meal.

I saw a sign for Spicy Meat Soba and decided to try it. The restaurant has both seating and standing areas, making it convenient. The noodles are softer compared to other soba places, and they are generous with the amount of meat and green onions they include, making it a good value for the price. The restaurant is located above the "LUMINE EST" department store in Shinjuku Station. #Shinshu Soba Honjin #Spicy Meat Soba #LUMINE EST Shinjuku #Shinjuku Station #GoodmanQuest #Good People of Mie

◼️The main store is a long-established okonomiyaki restaurant called "Honjin," located at the entrance of Kabukicho Ichiban-gai since its founding in 1954. They offer a variety of menu items and have seating available. ◆Umami Salt Ramen uses Okinawa sea salt, scallop, kombu, and shrimp extracts with a Japanese-style broth. The soup is deep and rich in flavor, with a strong saltiness. The noodles are egg noodles, and the toppings include steamed chicken that is tender but still has a fibrous texture, crunchy bean sprouts, corn, traditional cheap-style shinachiku, green onions, and nori. Considering the price of 620 yen, it is quite good. Definitely worth a repeat visit!! ◼️The restaurant operates with a ticket vending machine system and offers standing room with some seating available. It is self-service, and there are trays available next to the store. There is no background music. Established in 1954, managed by Komatsuhonten Co., Ltd. in the Komatsu Building at the entrance of Kabukicho Ichiban-gai. The president is Takashi Otsuka. Originally, it was a confectionery called "Amatou Honjin" when it was founded, and it is affiliated with the okonomiyaki restaurant "Okonomiyaki Honjin" in the Komatsu Building. ◼️The ramen was a good combination of umami and the cheapness one seeks, all at a low price.

Honzin Ramen (560) I made a solo attack on Honjin, a noodle shop located right across from Berg, just outside the ticket gates at Shinjuku Station. I have plenty of experience visiting noodle shops, but I always feel nervous when going to a new one. I thought about trying the soba, but decided to go for the ramen instead. The chewy noodles in a flavorful soup with a strong dried fish taste, topped with a boiled egg, made me happy. #EarlyMorningHonzinSobaClub #NoodleShopFirst #SobaForBreakfast

I used it for lunch at 1:00 PM. I ordered the White Sesame Tan Tan Soba (640 yen) and Stamina Don (590 yen). It's a meat festival. When ordering the White Sesame Tan Tan, they asked if I wanted chili oil, so even if you don't like spicy food, I think you can enjoy it. It's deliciously spicy. When I moved the meat aside, a bunch of leeks came out. Sometimes the meat and vegetables are clumped together here, so it's reassuring to mix it before eating. The Stamina Don is meat coated in a slightly salty sauce with a half-boiled egg. And for some reason, shredded cucumbers with mayonnaise. Eating the meat and cucumbers together is rich yet refreshing. It's interesting. A first-time combination. I'm full. It was spicy and I ended up sweating. Next time, I want to try the Katsu Don.

I went to Shinshu Soba Honjin in the basement of Lumine Est at Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. It's a standing soba restaurant, and they have some tricky menu items like the spicy meat soba that I tried. The meat soba had a good punch to it with a spicy kick from the chili oil. It was quite spicy, making me break into a sweat, but it was delicious.

Shinjuku work commute, just a regular station soba, but it's delicious. The most popular here is the classic kakiage soba. The soba and broth are different from other station soba places, and they serve it from the morning so I often have it for breakfast. This is a popular station soba shop. I had curry udon for 640 yen at "Shinshu Soba Honjin" in Shinjuku. It's a stand soba shop on the B1F of Lumine Est. The curry udon had a creamy curry broth, which is not commonly seen at stand shops. Usually, they use curry roux from curry rice or add curry powder to create a thick sauce like curry nanban, but I didn't expect something like "Konaya". It had boiled pork belly and chopped green onions, sprinkled with orange-colored spicy powder. However, the noodles were disappointing, reminiscent of the quality of bag noodles from the Showa era. In this aspect, the quality can vary greatly at stand shops, so you may need to choose carefully before entering.

Kakiage soba for 550 yen. Located conveniently between JR Shinjuku Station and the Marunouchi Line. This soba has a lot of wakame seaweed on top. The broth is on the sweeter side, so the first bite may be chewy. The tempura is not fried in-house. Maybe due to its location, the food is served promptly after ordering. The noodles are soft and smooth. The broth is a dark brown color with a rich umami flavor. In addition to soba and udon, they also serve ramen. Thank you for the meal.

This is a standing soba restaurant with plenty of seats available at Shinjuku Station. I was in a suit with some errands to run at Shinjuku Station around 2:30 pm, so I decided to grab a light meal. I spotted a standing soba restaurant that caught my eye, so I went in. They use Shinshu soba, but they also seem to promote ramen and other Chinese noodles. For a first-timer like me, it was hard to decide what to choose, so I went with the safe option of kakiage soba (\550 including tax) and paid with my Suica card for a meal ticket. I received my tray about a minute after handing in my meal ticket. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, with room for about 30 people. It's quite large for a standing soba restaurant. Even at this time, there were 2-3 other customers. There are also seating areas with chairs, but I didn't plan on staying long, so I decided to eat at the standing space near the return counter. The meal consisted of a small amount of seaweed, green onions, and the main dish, kakiage. The kakiage was immediately noticeable with its crispy texture, similar to the tempura found in cup noodles. The noodles were cooked al dente. The broth had a sweet and savory Kanto-style flavor with a strong soy sauce taste. There was shichimi chili pepper on the table, but I forgot to add it and ended up finishing my meal. I quickly returned my tray and headed towards the ticket gate. This standing soba restaurant inside Shinjuku Station has plenty of seats available and is a convenient option for a quick meal. However, with the variety of dining options around the station now, I felt that paying \550 for a bowl of soba was a bit expensive.

I visited the restaurant after a short break and had morning soba here. I purchased the Tempura Soba (630 yen) from the ticket machine outside. It felt a bit expensive, but I didn't hesitate. I handed over the food ticket at the counter and moved to a table at the back. In this type of restaurant, you usually eat standing up. How was the morning soba this morning? The tempura was firm and the seaweed and green onions were generously added. The large raw egg was reassuring. The broth had a refreshing taste, giving a sense of security. The soba noodles seemed thinner compared to before, but it might be just my imagination. Nonetheless, I appreciated the refreshing and crispy texture of the noodles. I finished the meal, placed the tray on the return counter, and left the restaurant. The constant flow of customers coming in and out kept the place bustling as always. Thank you for the meal.

After leaving Yasukuni Shrine, I headed to Shinjuku for lunch. I visited "Shinshu Soba Honjin" in the underground of the station for the first time. While the cafe next door had a long line during lunchtime, this place was empty. The broth was lukewarm, the soba was soft, and the tempura with spring chrysanthemum was powdery and fishy. So that's how it is! What a shame!
