In Tokyo, there is a bakery that I love, but it's a hassle to get there from my home (need to transfer to the Inokashira Line at Shibuya). I last visited the old location in March 2021. I knew they had moved in 2022, but it was disappointing that they moved to almost the same place (not a more convenient location). With COVID settling down and more freedom, I walked to Komaba-Todaimae Station after visiting an art exhibition (similar distance to walking back to Shibuya and taking the train?). Well, I also dislike the crowds in Shibuya. I arrived at the bakery while looking at my phone. I walked down the stairs from the road to a somewhat underground-like structure. The interior of the shop is small, but I feel like the bread is more visible than in the previous location. ・Pain de Mie (480 yen for one loaf) ★ A slightly smaller square loaf compared to regular bread. It has a crispy texture when toasted, with a light bite and a solid wheat flavor. ・Chestnut and Walnut Bread (800 yen) ★ My favorite bread here (dense and hard). I loved this bread so much that I used to check if it was available, make a reservation, and visit the old location. I was anxious about whether it was still available after the move, but it was! It's a bit expensive, so it might be a bit of a hurdle for first-time buyers. Made with spelt wheat, filled with chestnuts and walnuts. The overall image remains the same, but this time, the sweetness of the chestnuts is prominent, followed by the texture of the walnuts. The unique flavor of the spelt wheat dough seems to have diminished. But I still love it. ・Croissant (380 yen) ★ Crispy texture, with a buttery taste and aroma that I like. ・Salted Butter Corn Bread (360 yen) A fluffy bread with plenty of corn and a simple deliciousness of butter flavor. ・Fougasse 5 Fromages (640 yen) ★ A bread I loved from the old location. A fluffy dough with plenty of cheese soaked in, with a slightly spicy kick. Cheese lovers will adore this bread, and the dough itself is also quite delicious. ・Cheese Honey Focaccia (680 yen) Cheese and honey are filled in the center recess, but the amount of honey seemed less than expected. ・Earl Grey Chocolat (310 yen) The dough felt slightly dry, lacking moisture, and the Earl Grey aroma was weak. But when I tasted it, the Earl Grey aroma was noticeable and didn't lose to the chocolate. ・Canelé (380 yen) It's delicious, but it doesn't have a special feeling. It was my first visit in a while, and my first visit after the move, but it's still a bakery I love in Tokyo. It's just a shame that it's not a place I can easily stop by. I'd like to walk there from Shibuya when it cools down.

Based on a friend's recommendation, I tried a rich pistachio cream that I had never seen before. The deep green color looked really intense! It was indeed delicious, just as my friend had suggested. It was packed with nuts, and even though it was small, it was quite filling. It's a bread, but with its attention to detail and location, it's more like a fancy Western-style dessert or cake in terms of price. Well, it's quite sophisticated.

I often visit the area around Komaba-Todaimae Station, where I always stop by at "Le Rouleur". They have a wide variety of breads, each with its own unique characteristics. Even though I'm not a bread expert, I can easily tell when it's from Le Rouleur. My favorite is the Fougasse series, especially the 5 Fromages. It has a fluffy chapata dough with 5 types of cheese (blue cheese, Parmigiano, Gruyère, mozzarella, Emmental) inside. It's delicious and makes me happy. Another favorite of mine is the Corn Bread, which I always keep on hand for a sense of security. The fluffy dough with corn is always tasty.

I visited Le Rouleur, a stylish bakery located at the west exit of Komaba Todaimae Station, around 12 pm on a weekday. The interior of the shop had a limit of 5 people at a time, and there was usually a small line. When I entered, I was greeted by a variety of delicious bread and pastries lined up. I had to resist the temptation to grab everything, so I ended up buying a Financier (330 yen) and a Pistachio Cream pastry (320 yen). The Financier was absolutely delicious. As I chewed, it had a crispy, crunchy, and juicy texture on the outside, with a rich buttery and almond aroma melting in my mouth. The Pistachio Cream pastry had a perfect combination of walnuts and rich cream. I would love to try other pastries as well. Thank you for the delicious food.

This bakery is located in Komaba Todai-mae, and the owner chef, Mr. Shimizu, was involved in the launch of Maison Kayser Japan. Until February last year, the shop was selected as one of the top 100 shops for four consecutive years, with a rating of 3.91 just before the relocation. Although the rating was reset due to the relocation, it is gradually increasing, so it may enter the top 100 shops again soon. On this day, after eating at a nearby teishoku restaurant, I visited this shop for the first time since the relocation. The bread I had before the relocation was quite delicious, so I had high expectations this time as well. I purchased the following two items:
☆ Macadamia Maron (390 yen) - A bread made with baguette dough filled with macadamia nuts and candied chestnuts. The crust of the dough was crispy, and the crumb had a chewy texture. The abundance of macadamia nuts and candied chestnuts, especially the gentle sweetness of the candied chestnuts, left a strong impression.
☆ Chocolat Framboise (470 yen) - A bread made with croissant dough filled with homemade raspberry jam. The combination of croissant, chocolate, and raspberry is undeniably delicious, and this bread was also tasty. However, the downside was that both the chocolate and jam were overly sweet, making the overall taste too sweet. It would have been better if either the chocolate or jam had a slightly less sweet taste. Both were delicious, but perhaps my expectations were too high, so the satisfaction level was not as high as last time. Thank you for the meal.

Chef Shimizu, who honed his skills at the Paris flagship store, is deeply connected to Maison Kayser, a authentic bakery. The classic, cozy shop offers a variety of breads, including many savory options for lunch. I purchased a Croque Monsieur, Mentaiko France, and Pain au Chocolat to enjoy on the Komaba Campus. The prices are on the higher side for the Komaba Todai area, but the quality justifies the daily long lines (I visited during Sunday lunchtime and there was a queue of about 5 groups waiting). As I ate under the scorching sun, I can't say for sure how accurately my taste buds were working, but the baguette dough was bursting with a rich, delicious flavor.

I had Parma ham and arugula for 860 yen, a croque-monsieur for 560 yen, and an Earl Grey chocolate for 310 yen. This is a nearby delicious bakery that I often visit even after it moved. I always end up grabbing a lot of bread before going to the register, but the sandwiches in the showcase next to the register are also incredibly delicious.

I bought Fondant Chocolat (480 yen), Earl Grey Chocolate (310 yen), and Melon Pan (320 yen) for takeout at the end of June when it was already starting to get hot. By the time I got home, the Fondant Chocolat had melted and lost its shape^^ It's a bit pricey, but the taste from this bakery is top-notch! It was really delicious.

This was my first time going to Komaba Todaimae. I searched for a delicious restaurant and found this bakery. I called ahead to reserve some bread. I heard it was famous so I got the Pistachio Cream Salt Corn Bread and Melon Cream Bread. When I went in the evening, almost everything was still available except for the Pistachio Cream Bread. Even though it's pistachio, why is it such a dark color? And is it really sugary? It had a gritty texture and was extremely sweet. The Melon Cream Bread was average, but the Salt Corn Bread was delicious. I wish I could have tried the Mentaiko Ciabatta.

Arrived on a cloudy weekday around 12:15. A sign saying only up to 5 people allowed inside to avoid crowding. Wait outside until someone leaves. Pistachio Cream for 320 yen, Chocolat Blanc for 360 yen, and Caramelized Pecan Nut for 750 yen. The Pistachio Cream has an unusual green color, but it tastes delightful with the aroma of pistachios and sweetness. The walnut in the bread adds a nice texture and balances out the sweetness. The Chocolat Blanc is a fluffy bread with white chocolate filling, which is truly delicious. It makes you want to call it "angelic." The Caramelized Pecan Nut has a satisfying crunch as expected, with occasional pistachios adding a salty accent. This would make a perfect snack. The savory bread options also looked tempting. If this place were nearby, I'd love to try all the varieties.

I finally had the opportunity to visit the bakery that I had always thought would be absolutely delicious since I first saw it. Located just a short walk from Komaba Todai-mae, "Le Ressort" offers a variety of tasty treats.
- Baguette ¥440: I tried the freshly baked baguette, with a crispy crust and soft crumb. It had a great texture and melted in my mouth.
- Pistachio Cream ¥320: I also tried the walnut bread with a generous amount of sweet and rich pistachio cream.
- Chestnut and Walnut Bread made with spelt flour ¥400 (Half): This bread was filled with large chestnuts and walnuts, offering a natural flavor and a deep taste with every bite.
- Cheese and Honey Focaccia ¥680: I couldn't resist getting this fluffy focaccia with baked blue cheese and a hint of honey.
- Financier ¥330: When reheated, this almond-flavored treat with a crispy buttery texture was simply divine.
I will definitely visit again to try more of their delicious offerings.

I visited this place on a weekday afternoon, which I had been curious about for a while, and was delighted to see so many pastries still available. I purchased the following:
- Caramel Pie ¥490: A pear and caramel pie with fine layers and a crunchy texture. The caramelization is perfect, with a hint of bitterness amidst the sweetness. Simply put, it's amazing. I also want to try the chestnut one!
- Salted Butter Corn Bread ¥360: This is unbelievably delicious! From now on, it's corn and salted butter for me, not corn mayo!
- Cream Croissant ¥420: A croissant filled with plenty of custard cream. The custard is quite rich and sweet, so it's quite heavy. I prefer something a bit lighter.
- Pistachio Cream ¥320: A specialty of the shop. A unique and incredible product. The Viennese dough is filled with walnuts and the rich pistachio cream has a crunchy texture. The pistachio cream, with no artificial coloring, is amazing!
- Ciabatta ¥290 (not tasted yet): It's so fluffy just by picking it up with tongs! I also wanted to try the focaccia sandwich, but I already bought too much and reached my limit, so I'll make my own sandwich using this focaccia.
- Fig Bread ¥390 (not tasted yet): It looked so cute that I couldn't resist taking it home. It's now in the freezer.
The shop used to be run by a chef from Maison Kayser, which was quite surprising considering how amazing the quality of the bread is. Each bread has its own unique personality, different from other shops. There are still many more breads that I'm curious about, so I left with a lingering feeling. Thank you for the meal!

Le Ruisole, one of my top 5 favorite bakeries in Tokyo.
❥❥❥ Pistachio Cream ❥❥❥
A must-buy specialty loved by many. The vibrant green, rich pistachio cream is irresistible for pistachio lovers! The gentle sweetness of the walnut bread complements it perfectly.
❥❥❥ Milk France ❥❥❥
The key to Milk France is not only the milk cream but also the deliciousness of the bread. Le Ruisole's Milk France features a crispy mini baguette loved by many for its texture. The cream inside is made with Hokkaido condensed milk and low-moisture butter, offering richness with a light mouthfeel.
˗ˏˋ 3 Types of Ciabatta Sandwich ˎˊ˗
1. Camembert and Peach Ham: A popular sandwich loved by Camembert enthusiasts. The Camembert is prominent, with a hint of butter enhancing the flavor of the peach ham underneath.
2. Prosciutto and Arugula: Personally, my favorite among the three. Perfect for those who are not fond of Camembert's strong taste. The salty prosciutto, sweet arugula, and chewy bread complement each other well. Finished with basil oil and Parmesan on top.
3. Salmon and Sour Cream: A refreshing sandwich with the scent of dill. The sour cream and mild red onion "Early Red" help eliminate any fishiness, enhancing the rich flavor of the salmon.

Located just a 1-minute walk from Komaba-Todaimae Station, this bakery had a few minutes wait to get inside on a holiday. I visited because I was determined to get their Pistachio Cream that had previously impressed me when a friend gave it to me. I ordered the Pistachio Cream (320 yen), Milk French (240 yen), Canele (380 yen), and Sweet Potato Ball (320 yen). The Pistachio Cream had a crunchy texture, perhaps due to the addition of brown sugar, and it was exquisitely delicious! The rich pistachio flavor combined with the walnut in the dough was irresistible. A must-have item when you visit here. The Canele had a crispy exterior and a dense center, providing a satisfying bite. Although I only bought sweet items this time, they also offer voluminous savory items that look delicious, so I would like to try those next time.

In a recent episode of Matsuko's Unknown World, they introduced Le Ressort in Komaba, which is known for their high-quality bread. The baguette was delicious and priced at 440 yen, which I found to be quite reasonable. The corn bread, priced at 260 yen, was also moist and chewy, and overall very good.

Top of the bread history! The best purchase was the freshly baked Pain au Chocolat for 410 yen, Mentaiko Chabata for 400 yen, Focaccia 5 Fromages for 640 yen, Milk France for 240 yen, and Pistachio Cream for 320 yen. Each one offered value beyond their price and professional taste, but the Pistachio Cream stood out with its perfect balance of sweetness and the nutty aroma of walnuts, while the flaky layers of the Pain au Chocolat were exceptional. With so many options available, I definitely want to keep coming back to try them all!

Komaba Todai-mae☆ Price... on the higher side! (lol) On this day, I went on a stroll from Komaba Todai-mae to Shimokitazawa with a friend. We went to a shop located in front of the station. The shop only allows up to 5 people inside at a time. I think it's good that they are maintaining proper restrictions even with the easing of COVID-19 measures. The shop is not very spacious, but it's filled with many exciting bread options. However, the prices are on the higher side. I purchased the Salted Butter Corn Bread and Earl Grey Chocolate. The Salted Butter Corn Bread had lots of corn and a delicious buttery saltiness. The Earl Grey Chocolate had chunks of chocolate and a subtle tea aroma, which was great. I wanted to try other bread options as well, but carrying them around all day would be a bit much (lol). Thank you for the meal.

The chef who was involved in the launch of Maison Kayser has his own restaurant. I arrived on Sunday at 9:30 AM and there was no line outside the shop, but the inside was bustling with a few groups of customers.
- Pistachio Cream 320 yen ☆3.5
The bread is the same as Pain au Noix, with crunchy walnuts that are delicious. The cream has caramelized pistachios that are crunchy, strong sweetness, and rich, giving a sensation similar to eating chocolate. Overall, it's a bit sweet but the texture is delicious and addictive. With plenty of cream, sweet tooth people will surely be satisfied. It's small but quite filling.
- Salmon Sour Cream 860 yen ☆3.4
Soft chapata with lightly smoked salmon, plenty of sour cream, not too much, spreading the smoky aroma of salmon and the refreshing taste of rosemary. The chapata is simple, refreshing, without any greasiness, and sprinkled with powder on top like an English muffin. It's expensive but worth it for the generous amount of salmon.
- Mentaiko Baguette 400 yen ☆3.4
A firm and chewy bread with plenty of spicy mentaiko inside. It's the type that makes your jaw tired.
- Croque Monsieur 560 yen ☆3.4
Plenty of rich and smooth white sauce inside, with soft bread that matches the ingredients well. The ham is mild and doesn't stand out in a good way.
- Earl Grey Chocolat 310 yen ☆3.4
A fluffy bread with a strong aroma of black tea and plenty of chocolate chips. Recommended for chocolate lovers.
- Chapata 290 yen ☆3.3
When toasted, it's crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, delicious. It was delicious when spread with mentaiko sauce. Light, simple, goes well with anything but doesn't have much of a distinctive feature.

I had some business in the area after a long time, so I decided to drop by and check it out. To my surprise, I found the shop near the station. Oh, it looks like the shop has moved to a new location. And it looks even more stylish now. It was raining on that day, but there was a limit of 5 people inside the shop, so there was a line of about 4 people outside. It was around 1 pm on Saturday. Inside the shop, there were many bread displayed. I bought some familiar hard bread and also tried a new sandwich bread. It was a hot dog style with a tasty sausage inside, but the sauce on top seemed a bit bland. Other than that, everything was delicious as usual! Especially the baguette. I really like their hard bread. When I stopped by again after finishing my business, there were only 2-3 pieces of bread left. It was around 4 pm. I'm glad I bought some!

At first, my friend gave me corn bread and lemon cake as a souvenir, saying "Here, I bought some bread for you." After taking a bite of the corn bread, I was convinced that this was no ordinary bakery. I asked for the name of the shop and have been going there regularly since. It is located in front of Komaba-大 station, and although it is a bit of a walk from Shibuya, I don't mind. This time, I bought Camembert and peach ham sandwich (around ¥800), garlic French bread (around ¥200), and a half loaf of chestnut and walnut bread (around ¥400). I have bought the Camembert and peach ham sandwich several times before, and it is really delicious. The Camembert is properly smelly (in a good way) and the peach ham is flavorful. The butter spread on it is also very fresh and creamy. The garlic French bread has finely chopped garlic in it. If I had to choose between this and the mentaiko baguette, I prefer the latter. The chestnut and walnut bread is packed with chestnuts and walnuts, with just the right amount of sweetness. Among all the things I have tried, my favorite is the peach ham and Camembert sandwich and pecan nut pound cake. If it were a bit cheaper, that would be great, but I still end up buying them anyway.

In the quiet residential area of Komaba, which is only filled with houses, research institutions, and parks, there is a standout bakery that catches the eye. The array of bread lined up is overwhelming, and the more you look, the more beautiful they seem, making it difficult to choose. I bought a large amount on this day, and they disappeared in no time. I originally planned to have a picnic in the nearby Komaba Park and eat one, but ended up eating four at once. The taste was so delicious that I couldn't resist wanting to eat freshly baked bread. Although the prices are higher compared to other bakeries, I was convinced by the fact that they are working on improving employee benefits and investing in opportunities. I admire their earnest and sincere attitude towards doing the right thing, and I feel like investing in this sentiment. I have found a bakery that I want to continue visiting. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
