While exploring antenna shops and visiting Ameyoko, I ended up in the pedestrian paradise of Ginza. I stumbled upon a crowd gathered around the renowned bakery "Kimuraya," established in 1870. The bakery had a variety of popular items, including a French restaurant on the fourth floor called "Arbre Village." I got absorbed into the bustling atmosphere and ended up buying some delicious pastries, including a fig jam bread and a sakura anpan. The fig jam bread was light and fluffy with a fruity flavor, while the sakura anpan had a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. I also tried an an-donut, which had a smooth red bean paste filling and a light dusting of powdered sugar. Overall, the pastries were all delicious and I regret not buying the popular "an butter" pastry. I also mentioned buying a baked sweet called "kiri-an," which was also delightful. It was a satisfying food experience at Kimuraya.

Kimuraya Ginza Main Store is located across from Ginza Mitsukoshi. Today is Sunday, so the street in front of Kimuraya has become a pedestrian paradise. I went to the cafe on the second floor yesterday and bought some bread on my way back. The bread I bought today was a Ham and Cheese Sandwich for ¥350 (tax included), which is made with natural cheese, boneless ham, onions, and mayonnaise sauce sandwiched between croissant dough. I also bought a Soft-Boiled Egg Curry Bun for ¥300 (tax included), which is a mild curry bun with a rich soft-boiled egg and curry paste. For breakfast, I had yogurt, iced coffee, and the bread I bought yesterday. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I used to love the salt bread at the bread buffet on the 2nd floor of the restaurant. I have tried salt bread from various shops, but I suddenly wanted to eat Kimuraya's salt bread again. When I came before, it was displayed just to the left as soon as I entered the entrance. This time, I couldn't find it, but finally found it after asking the staff! There weren't many customers due to the bad weather, so I could move around smoothly inside the store. I will come back for lunch to have the bread buffet! Kimuraya's salt bread is still the most delicious. Kimuraya Salt Bread 2 pieces for 380 yen each, total 760 yen.

Today, while strolling around Ginza, I started to feel a little hungry and stopped by Kimuraya to buy an anpan. The store was bustling with many customers. It had been a while since I visited the main store, and I noticed that they had expanded their bread selection. This time, I decided to try the Cheese Cream Pan, Mamezukushi Pan, Cream Pan, and An Butter Pan. Although the classic anpan caught my eye, I chose to try the An Butter Pan this time. Many customers in the store were talking about how delicious it was. The An Butter Pan was filled with rich butter cream inside, with two holes on top making it a bit tricky to eat without making a mess. I had to cut it carefully or tear it apart to avoid the cream oozing out from the holes. The balance of red bean paste and butter was excellent, making it a delicious bread. I would definitely want to buy it again.

In the evening, sometimes the an-butter is sold out, so I always make sure to go before early afternoon. If today was the last day, what would you want to eat? I would immediately say, "An-butter from Ginza Kimuraya. Ideally toasted for 1 minute and 50 seconds." It's hard to explain, so I take every chance to recommend it to everyone. They have different seasonal flavors too, which is great! In autumn, it's pumpkin!

Located just outside Tokyo Metro Ginza Station, this shop is situated across the street from the famous Mitsukoshi lion statue. There is no parking available. This shop is known for being the first in Japan to introduce "anpan" and "jampan" to the world. In 1874, Kimura Yasubei created the world's first "anpan" by combining Western bread with Japanese sweet bean paste, selling it for 5 sen each. This caught the attention of Yamamoto Gonnohyoe, who presented it to Emperor Meiji during a cherry blossom viewing event. The Emperor simply said, "Continue to provide it." Later, the idea for "jampan" was also conceived. The shop has a modern bakery feel both inside and out, which may be a bit surprising. Nevertheless, it is a popular spot with many customers. While there is seating available on the second floor, on this day, I opted for takeout from the first floor bread sales corner. I purchased two Sakura Anpan for 200 yen each and two Anzu Jampan for 250 yen each. Both the Anpan, enjoyed by Emperor Meiji, and the Jampan, the world's first, had a moist bread texture and elegant fillings, exuding a sense of luxury. Delicious and reasonably priced, these are definitely must-try pastries for any food enthusiast.

It is a well-known and beloved old-fashioned bakery! The bread is delicious as always! Today, I tried the anpan for the first time and it was so good! The red bean paste filling is the best! It goes perfectly with coffee! I will definitely go back again! Thank you for the meal!

I came here for the all-you-can-eat bread. I remember they had baguette, salt bread, grape bread, olive and pepper bread, carrot bread, spinach bread, fig and cheese bread, and corn bread. The staff came by multiple times and were very friendly. Truly a reputable establishment!

Seasonal limited parfait, single item ¥1500
Beef fillet cutlet sandwich ¥1950
I can't believe I can eat a peach parfait for ¥1500 in Ginza! I immediately ordered it. Oh, the peach on top is hard and not sweet (T . T). As I ate further, sweet peaches started to appear. If only the peach on top was sweet... The beef fillet cutlet sandwich was also a bit disappointing. It was thinner than in the photo, lacking in volume. For the price...

Just a minute's walk from Ginza Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, you'll find the super long-established store "Kimuraya Ginza Main Store," which was founded in 1869 (Meiji 2). This store pioneered the spread of bread with a Japanese twist after the Meiji Restoration, combining Western food with unique Japanese techniques. It is also the birthplace of anpan, having created the "sake yeast anpan" using water, rice, and koji, the ingredients for Japanese sake. I visited on a weekend afternoon and purchased the following breads:
- Sake yeast red bean paste
- Sake yeast cheese cream
- Coffee butter red bean paste
- Adult butter red bean paste
The bread dough with red bean paste and cheese cream was sweet, fluffy, and moist, very delicious. The red bean paste was subtly sweet, while the cheese cream was rich and creamy. The coffee butter had a soft French bread with whipped cream and coffee-flavored red bean paste inside, a delightful combination of coffee, cream, and red bean. The adult butter red bean paste had a hint of rum in the red bean paste, giving it a mature flavor. Personally, I quite liked this type of taste. I thoroughly enjoyed the authentic taste of the original anpan at this long-established store.

I went to the shop around 6:00 PM and found that almost all products except for anpan were sold out. I purchased a coffee anpan as it was being promoted. The coffee-flavored anko (sweet bean paste) was quite delicious.

When you think of bread in Ginza, it has to be Kimuraya! Perfect for souvenirs from Tokyo. They have a variety of bread, not just anpan, and all look delicious. And the prices are reasonable (*´ω`*) Anpan costs around 200-250 yen! I bought the classic red bean, sakura, and cream cheese flavors.

President of Sheriroze Co., human resources educator, and etiquette beauty school director, Toshihide Igaki here. The other day, I had a dinner with the presidents of a publishing company in Ginza, and we walked to Ginza Crossing while slightly tipsy. Whenever I come to Ginza, I always stop by Kimuraya to buy their "original red bean paste bread" and other items. Despite the late hour, I managed to buy the red bean paste bread. The prepared side dishes were almost sold out. Unlike Western bread, Kimuraya uses their unique sake leaven to make the dough, which takes twice as long to make as normal bread. It is always delicious no matter when you eat it. The bread dough, which is carefully made, is firm, and the red bean paste has just the right amount of sweetness, allowing you to taste the deliciousness of the red beans. I recently learned that Kimuraya's red bean paste bread is smaller in size compared to other bakeries. It is the size of a palm. In fact, it is said that while it is easy to make bread expand large, making it this size requires advanced skills! Therefore, the palm-sized bread is a testament to their top-notch technique.【Kimuraya has been making sake leaven red bean paste bread since its founding in Meiji 20, and it is characterized by the unique sweetness and flavor of sake leaven. It is carefully aged and fermented compared to regular bread, allowing you to enjoy the traditional taste of bread. The bread that brings out the flavor of sake leaven】Excerpt from the HP. Knowing this, I understand why Kimuraya has been a longstanding store for over 150 years. Thank you for always making delicious red bean paste bread. It was a great meal. I will visit again.

Located in Ginza, the well-known bakery "Kimuraya" is a long-established shop for bread. Founded in the Meiji era, it is famous for being the birthplace of anpan. They offer various flavors such as sakura with sake lees, smooth red bean paste, red bean paste with sake lees, and topped with poppy seeds. The dough is fragrant, with a refined sweetness.

On the way back from Kabuki-za, I was tempted to stop by a crowded café for some rest. Without much thought, I ordered the Matcha Anmitsu, which looked refreshing and perfect for summer. The colorful dessert arrived with peach and green colored mochi, yellow chestnuts, and a bright red cherry on top. The matcha ice cream and red bean paste were also generously served. The taste was delicious, but not something extraordinary. It was a nice treat in the midst of the hot weather. Overall, it was a bit pricey but worth it for the experience. Next time, I'm eyeing the shrimp cutlet sandwich that looked tempting. Can't wait to try it on my next visit!

Kimuraya is always bustling with customers. I had only ever bought pastries from the front anpan area on the first floor, but this time I ventured further into the shop and discovered that they also sell cakes. They have apple pie too, and it looks delicious! The most popular item here is the an-butter pastry. I had always thought that the regular anpan was the best seller. They have different varieties of anpan like Setouchi lemon anpan, Shine Muscat grape anpan, as well as cheese cream anpan and matcha latte anpan. In the end, I bought a regular red bean anpan. The classic anpan might just be the most delicious after all. It costs 200 yen per piece.

After having lunch at the grill, I stopped by here because I wanted to take home my favorite bread. As expected, they had freshly baked raisin bread available for 320 yen for a half loaf. I also liked the hard bread with raisins and orange peel, which was priced at 480 yen. It felt like I was sampling bread at the grill again (laughs). While their anpan is famous, they offer various types of bread at affordable prices. I took a photo of the bread I actually ate, including the prices.

I bought some Anpan from the middle of Ginza as a souvenir for friends who invited me to a baseball game and for myself. I chose a set of 3 with poppy seeds, red bean paste, salted lemon, and kona (jam bread). I tried the kona and red bean paste flavors, and I thought it was worth buying from Kimuraya Honten.

I peeked into an event on the 2nd floor of Sendai Station and saw Kimuraya set up a booth. Instead of the usual anpan variations, I decided to try the "Kimuraya Curry Pan" (280 yen) and the "Peanut Coronet" (240 yen). The curry pan had a crispy and crunchy exterior, while the interior was moist. The curry had a Japanese-style flavor, giving an overall comforting feel. The Peanut Coronet had a smooth peanut cream filling and a soft coronet pastry. It was enjoyable to tear off and eat the coronet in small pieces. Although I didn't buy the classic anpan this time, I was satisfied with my choices.

I stopped by this old bakery, which is always crowded but surprisingly not too busy this time. They have been in business for over 140 years. The breads have a fluffy and flavorful texture, made with a unique Japanese yeast called "sake-kasu." They offer a variety of breads, but the classic red bean paste filled bread is particularly delicious. It's a small-sized bread priced at 200 yen each. It would be nice to receive it as a souvenir.

An Butter: A fluffy and soft bread that is perfect for a snack with its small size. It has a strong buttery and sweet red bean paste flavor, making it very satisfying. The buttery cream-like texture is delicious and the sweet red bean paste gives it a true snack feel.
