The popular "Asako Iwayanagi" offers a complex and enjoyable parfait experience, but reservations for their parfaits are extremely competitive and hard to come by. As an alternative, I purchased a parfait called "Parfait a Emporter" from the neighboring "Prus" for takeout. Despite both being popular, there were no long lines at either "Asako Iwayanagi" or "Asako Iwayanagi Prus" on the day of my visit. The exterior of "Prus" maintained the same aesthetic as the former, with a simple interior featuring exposed concrete walls and offering baked goods and takeout parfaits. The parfaits available that day were the "Sakura," inspired by cherry blossoms, and the "Strawberry Strawberry Frais," featuring seasonal strawberries. Both parfaits were priced at over 2000 yen each, but as a dessert enthusiast, I ended up purchasing both. The "Parfait a Emporter Sakura" featured a mix of Japanese and Western elements, with cherry blossoms, white dumplings, cherry Mont Blanc cream, kinako cream, chantilly, and a whole white strawberry. The layers progressed to include lemon jelly and marinated elements, resulting in a refreshing finish. The "Parfait a Emporter Strawberry Strawberry Frais" highlighted seasonal strawberries paired with Japanese black tea and tea jelly. The parfait included fresh strawberries, strawberry mousse, raspberries, hazelnut crackland, and tea cream, with lemon jelly, strawberry marinade, and a strawberry and raspberry compote providing a balance of acidity and fruit flavors. The complexity and high quality of the parfaits remained consistent even for takeout, making it a delightful treat to enjoy at home. For those struggling to secure a reservation, trying out the takeout option first might be a good idea.
