Enter the alley between Daikanyama Ogawaken and King George. If you miss the small sign for "Pound Cake," you might just walk past the quiet staircase hidden in the back. Enismore Garden, a small pound cake specialty shop, stands quietly with beautifully wrapped pound cakes lined up in the showcase. On this day, there were 7 types of half-size pound cakes (8cm x 8cm x 5cm) priced from 1,080 yen to 1,728 yen. The chestnut pound cake is exceptional at 5,940 yen (tax included) for the regular size (16cm x 8cm x 5cm)! Although the price is quite high for a pound cake, they do not use any preservatives or baking powder and seem to be particular about the ingredients. The Sakura pound cake costs 1,620 yen (tax included) and is a limited edition cake for the cherry blossom season. When you unwrap the green packaging, you will find a sealed pound cake with a shelf life of about 2 weeks. It uses high-quality Uji matcha from Kyoto's Koyamaen tea ceremony, and the top has a mochi-like matcha paste with sakura mixed in. The harmony of colors from the cream-colored tart dough on the bottom to the vivid green of matcha and the pink of sakura on top is enjoyable, along with the moist texture, chewy matcha paste, and subtle sakura flavor with a hint of saltiness. The Fruit Cake costs 1,728 yen (tax included) and features raisins and bananas mixed into the dough, with no-added dried fruits (mango, prunes, figs), walnuts, cinnamon, homemade rum-soaked raisins, and pistachio toppings. The bottom has a thin tart dough. The fruit cake is packed with the texture of walnuts and the deliciousness of rum-soaked fruits, with a restrained sweetness and a rich, moist taste. It may be pricey, but it has a good shelf life, cute packaging, and is delicious. When things settle down, why not show appreciation to your stressed wife by giving her this as a gift? For the sake of harmony at home, this price is surely not too high, right? 😉 Blog: https://orb0707.blogspot.com/2020/04/blog-post_29.html
