I had dinner tonight at a quaint tonkatsu restaurant in front of Meguro Station. The atmosphere was lively, with almost every seat taken. There were two floors, and I chose to sit at the counter on the first floor. The spacious kitchen was all wooden, with many staff members bustling around. I ordered the Rosukatsu set for 2,100 yen. After about 20 minutes, I was served rice, miso soup, and pickles. Finally, the thick Rosukatsu arrived, accompanied by a generous portion of cabbage. The crispy coating had a unique taste, almost like fried pork piccata. I enjoyed it with tonkatsu sauce and mustard. The meat was juicy and flavorful, and the simple miso soup was also delicious. When I ran out of cabbage, the staff kindly offered more. They even gave me a second serving of rice and miso soup. The price of 2,100 yen may seem high, but considering the ambiance, taste, and service, it was well worth it. This was my last dinner in Tokyo for this business trip, and it has left me feeling satisfied and ready for a productive day tomorrow. It was a truly delicious meal. Thank you.

I visited a popular tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo, which was founded in 1939. Despite having been to their branch restaurants before, this was my first time at their main branch. On a Sunday night, there were around 30 people waiting inside, and after about an hour, I finally got to try their food. The pork cutlet was about 150g, quite small and not very thick. It was cut into 12 pieces, but when I tried to pick it up with chopsticks, the breading easily fell off. The breading was a mix of cake flour and bread flour, slightly hard, and the meat inside was dry and lacked the expected crunchiness. The breadcrumbs were very fine, almost non-existent on the surface, so the texture was not enjoyable. The meat itself was overcooked, tough, dry, and had an unpleasant smell. Even though it was a pork cutlet, most of the fat had been removed, so there was no sweetness or flavor from the fat. The skewered pork cutlet was also cut into small pieces, making it hard to eat. Overall, I felt that the restaurant failed to bring out the best in their ingredients and the deliciousness of the dish. The rice, cabbage, and miso soup were all-you-can-eat, so at least my stomach was full.

I visited on a late Friday night. It's been a while since I last came to Tonki. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is still great. I ordered the fillet, loin, and skewers to compare. I think I might prefer the skewers. The unique coating goes well with the sauce.

I visited around 4:20 PM on Saturday. The restaurant opens at 4 PM, but it was already full and the waiting area was almost full as well. I waited for about 40 minutes before being seated at the counter. I had the pork cutlet set meal, and the coating was crispy with just the right amount of breadcrumbs. The meat was tender and the oil was sweet, making it delicious. I would like to try the fillet cutlet next time.

I went to a famous tonkatsu restaurant in Meguro around 6 pm on Saturday. The place was crowded with customers on both the first and second floors. We waited for about 40 minutes before being seated on the second floor. Once we were seated, the dishes we had pre-ordered were served promptly. The taste of both the loin and fillet cutlets was relatively light and easy to eat. The breading was thin and crispy, giving it a snack-like texture. It tasted even better with some hot mustard. Rice, cabbage, and miso soup were all-you-can-eat (except for miso soup, which was limited to one serving), so I had an extra serving of rice and miso soup. Although the price of 2300 yen may be slightly high, I was very satisfied overall due to the great atmosphere and excellent customer service at the restaurant!

I suddenly felt like eating tonkatsu, but I didn't want something greasy. I remembered a place nearby called Tonki that I heard was refreshing, so I decided to give it a try, prepared for a long line. When I arrived, I saw a wide range of customers, mostly older, which made me hopeful. There was no line outside, but inside, all the seats were taken and people were waiting. I ordered the Hire Katsu set for 2,300 yen. After waiting for 30 minutes, I finally got a seat. The seating system was interesting - you didn't move in order, you just sat wherever there was an open seat. I couldn't figure out how they kept track of the order. While waiting a bit longer, I ordered a bottle of beer, which was nice to have. Some peanuts were served as a snack. Finally, the tonkatsu arrived. The batter was different - not the usual breadcrumbs, more like fried chicken. Since it was made with pork tenderloin, it was light and refreshing, yet still tender and juicy. It seemed like the meat fibers were properly processed. The tonkatsu came with a delicious miso soup. It was light and had fewer ingredients, more like a miso soup. I didn't feel heavy or bloated after eating, very satisfied!

In the middle of September, after the sudden heavy rain in Meguro, Tokyo had stopped, I met up with a friend at 6:30 pm. When my friend suggested going for ramen, I immediately said "YES". As we walked down Gonsuke-zaka, I caught sight of the sign for Tonkatsu Tonkino on the left. Ignoring the ramen plan for now, we headed straight to Tonkino. It was the right decision. Due to the rain, we were seated at the counter right away. It was a bit disappointing because there were about 20 people waiting in line behind us. However, watching the perfect operation of the tonkatsu cooking was like watching a beautiful and entertaining art performance. Tonkino is a fun place even while waiting in line. I ordered the loin tonkatsu, which had a delicious sweetness in the fat. The pork miso soup had a rich flavor. They offer loin, fillet, and skewer tonkatsu, but I prefer the loin. I had two servings of loin tonkatsu and one beer, which cost ¥5,250 in total.

Popular tonkatsu restaurant in Meguro! I recently saw my favorite actress on TV introducing this place where her family has been going for years, and I immediately wanted to visit. I expected to wait in line, but when I visited around 8 pm on a weekday, we were seated right away. As we walked through the curtain and opened the door, we saw the first floor filled with counter seats and the kitchen. There were many customers and it was bustling. Since there were two of us, we were led to the second floor where there were a few other customers, but it was quite empty. There were more female customers on the second floor. There were also private tatami rooms in the back. We looked at the menu, but the dish the actress often orders was not listed. When we asked the staff, they kindly told us about it. We ordered the "fillet cutlet set with skewered cutlets." The freshly fried tonkatsu was brought to us along with rice, pickles, and miso soup. They happily provided us with refills of cabbage. The tonkatsu had a unique light and crispy batter. It was easy to eat as there were air pockets between the meat and the batter, causing it to come off easily. The skewered cutlets on the right side seemed to be negima (chicken and green onion). They were light and easy to eat. I didn't experience any discomfort like heartburn, making it a pleasant dining experience. The staff were very kind and the atmosphere inside was cozy. Thank you for the delicious meal. I would like to try the pork cutlet next time.

I have been a customer of this restaurant for 30 years. This tonkatsu is from a well-known long-established shop, with good service and a thin and easy-to-eat coating. They use green onions for their kushikatsu, which is unique as most places use onions. The shredded cabbage is also done well! You can see them frying the tonkatsu here, so there has been a long line since they opened. I brought some foreign visitors here and they were very impressed. I would like to go back with someone again. Thank you very much.

I went to a recommended tonkatsu restaurant in Meguro. It was featured as a family favorite on a TV show recently. It was a Friday on a typhoon day, so I wasn't sure how crowded it would be, but there were only about 4 groups sitting in the corner of the restaurant. The staff managed the seating order, and I was surprised that I could sit anywhere. They said there were tables available on the second floor, but I preferred to sit at the counter where I could see the food being prepared. After a 15-minute wait, I was seated. The staff worked efficiently, and it was enjoyable to watch them in action. You can get refills of rice, miso soup, and cabbage (maybe only once?), and they will offer more when they see you need it. I enjoyed a taste of traditional Tokyo gourmet.

The restaurant was crowded and we waited for about 10 minutes inside. I ordered the pork cutlet, which had a delicious coating and a flavorful taste. It was not crispy, but had a crunchy texture. The cutlets were cut into bite-sized pieces, making them easy to eat. They serve cabbage, rice, and miso soup, and you can get free refills. The prices are somewhat high for tonkatsu, but it's worth it because you can get refills and eat to your heart's content when you want a hearty meal.

I chose the Rosukatsu set meal (2,300 yen)! The restaurant is quite spacious, with a large kitchen, but the inside is almost full, with customers coming in constantly. Most of them seem like regulars... I can really feel that this place is popular. I'm not sure if they use all of them, but there are five deep fryers with oil in them. The meat was coated using toothpicks. The coating is delicate, so I didn't touch it with my bare hands, just like I saw on TV. The meat has a slight chewiness and a sweet fat. The coating tends to come off easily when you eat, so it's a bit difficult to eat without it falling apart. The sauce was a bit sweet. The miso soup, cabbage, and rice are free for refills, and most people eat about two bowls of each on average. I enjoyed two bowls of each. There are probably many tonkatsu places that are better than the famous ones, but I was impressed by how this evaluation is built up by the regular customers who come in constantly. It's now a super popular restaurant that is often featured on TV and visited by many celebrities, but I think it's a good restaurant that has taken root in the community.

I had always been curious about this place, and it was my first visit! My friend, who had been there many times before, took me there. The first floor was very crowded, and I was too hungry to wait, so we quickly went upstairs. My friend ordered the pork cutlet, and I chose the fillet cutlet. They both tasted delicious, and we finished them in no time.

When you enter the traditional Meguro tonkatsu restaurant, Tonki, you will find around 40 seats at the open white wooden counter where skilled tonkatsu chefs rhythmically take orders, fry tonkatsu, and discreetly serve cabbage refills before you even ask. The natural and attentive service creates a pleasant atmosphere. Today, I had a set of tonkatsu skewers, assorted pickles, and a Sapporo Lager beer. The skewers are fried slowly in lard for 20 minutes, resulting in a crispy outer layer and tender inside. It's the best. This tonkatsu restaurant is so good that you'll want to visit once or twice a week. Thank you very much.

Tonki in Meguro, before 9 pm. Today, I was able to enter without waiting. I've lost count of how many times I've eaten here, but I feel like eating about once every six months. I ordered the pork cutlet set with an additional skewered cutlet. The tonkatsu here may be a matter of personal preference. The meat is delicious, but the breading tends to come off and has a satisfying crunch. This is a distinctive feature. What makes it delicious for me is the atmosphere of the restaurant, the clean white wooden counter, the dignified manner in which the staff work - all of these elements contribute to the deliciousness of the tonkatsu, I think. Thank you for the meal today as well.

I visited the tonkatsu restaurant I had been wanting to try. I had a pork loin cutlet and a bottle of beer for ¥2,950. It was delicious. The texture of the tonkatsu coating was different from what I expected. It wasn't crispy like breadcrumbs, but more like a crunchy texture. The meat was not rare, but still juicy. Although it looked filling, the meat was tasty and easy to eat because the coating felt light. The rice and pickles were good, and the miso soup (tonjiru) had a rich flavor. It's interesting how tonkatsu can have such different textures depending on the restaurant. I think I like the tonkatsu here. It didn't make me feel too full. The restaurant is about a 3-minute walk from the nearest station. The interior is quite spacious, with seating on the second floor as well. I sat at the counter on the first floor by myself, but there were about 20 seats at the counter. There were also chairs behind the counter where waiting customers sat. Most of the customers seemed to be dining alone or in groups of 1-3. The restaurant was established in 1939. The size of the kitchen and the impressive number of plates with cabbage on them was a sight to see. The best scenario would be enjoying tonkatsu without feeling too full. The restaurant allows smoking.

I have been trying out various tonkatsu restaurants recently, and I believe that a delicious tonkatsu place is one that pays attention to detail. The pork flavor should be rich, and the more you chew, the more the taste should come out. It should be enjoyable even without sauce, just with salt. The breading should be skillfully done, sticking well to the meat. I was looking forward to having tonkatsu after a long time, but I didn't expect the quality to be this low. The meat was dry and tasteless, and it was poorly cut with the breading falling off. It feels like they are only maintaining their reputation based on their atmosphere, without providing good service. It's a tonkatsu place without smiles. The sauce is the only good thing (laughs). It was much tastier before the renovation. I can see that there are customers, but there seem to be fewer compared to the past. I hope they will change and grow in the future.

After finishing up at the public bath in the evening, I wanted to eat either Chinese food or tonkatsu. Fulfilling that desire in Meguro is Tonki. My refreshed body from the bath was craving this tonkatsu and beer. I toasted with a medium-sized bottle of beer to a rosukatsu set meal.

I arrived at the restaurant just before 8 pm and there was a wait of about 10 people at the counter seats on the first floor. When I visited two years ago during the pandemic, each seat was separated by acrylic panels, but that is no longer the case and it has returned to the way it was before. The kitchen staff also seemed to have changed. I ordered the pork cutlet set meal and it was served in about 20 minutes. The batter here has a unique taste that you can't find elsewhere. The miso soup, rice, and pickles were all delicious. They still offer free refills of cabbage. Overall, everything was delicious.

I visited a famous restaurant in Meguro for the first time. Around 10 skilled chefs were cooking energetically in the lively atmosphere. The highlight was the unique breading style, which was more like a grilled crust rather than the usual breaded cutlet. The meat was tender and undoubtedly the best in the Meguro area. It was quite impressive.

I have been going to Tonki for years, but recently the taste has gone downhill. Tonki used to have delicious tonkatsu and amazing tonjiru. However, when I went there the other day, I was shocked by how bland and unappetizing the food looked. It was a disappointment and a complete letdown. The new president of Tonki and the staff need to seriously think about this before they start losing customers. Don't disappoint your fans!
