I went out for my first meal of the year just before January ends. I took this opportunity to visit a famous restaurant that I had never been to before. It is known for its tempura rice bowl, located in Nihonbashi. Although it has become a chain restaurant and may have lost some of its rarity value. I ordered the Edomae tempura rice bowl with miso soup for 1330 yen. The Edomae tempura rice bowl was the only thing I ordered. The bowl was overflowing with a generous amount of toppings, and the eel that was sticking out of the bowl was quite impressive. The addictive sauce with a moderate sweetness, the large and crispy shrimp tempura fried in sesame oil, and the well-balanced saltiness and sweetness of the seaweed tempura were my favorites. The lightness of the squid was also good. They source their seafood from Tsukiji Market every morning, so it is very fresh. Additionally, to avoid the long lines, you can also use Uber Eats to order.

Arrived after 2 PM on a regular day, but had to wait in a long line for about an hour to enter. Ordered Edo-style tempura bowl and crab miso soup. The tempura consisted of shrimp, eel, squid, small fish tempura, green pepper, half-cooked egg, and seaweed, all beautifully arranged and served with a fragrant sauce. The batter was crispy even with the sauce, and each ingredient retained its flavor, with the eel being fluffy and the shrimp being firm. The sauce was delicious! Ate everything without getting tired of it. The pickles eaten in between also did a great job of not making the mouth feel greasy. While waiting in line, the staff kindly offered tea and spoke politely, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

I went to eat Edomae Tendon before and it left quite an impression on me, so I decided to go back after a long time. Last time, I waited for about 30 minutes at night, so I thought it would be the same this time. However, it turned out that it was also lunchtime and the place had become quite popular, as there was a very long line (2 hours wait). I waited in line and maybe because I was even hungrier than last time, the tempura bowl tasted even better! The anago tempura was big and amazing!! The two types of pickles served as a palate cleanser were also very suitable. (・∀・)b

I knew it was popular as I always saw a huge line during weekends. I thought I wouldn't wait that long, but I saw on word of mouth that it's not so crowded on weekday nights, so I decided to go. I arrived around 5:40 pm on a weekday. Maybe because of the thunderstorm in the evening, there was no one at the counter. Lucky me, no waiting either. I wanted to go in, but the staff asked me to wait outside. I ordered while looking at the menu with the staff outside. I ordered Edo-style tempura bowl for 1,280 yen and miso soup for 120 yen, total of 1,400 yen. I was taken to the second floor where there were about 5-6 groups of people. I sat on a sofa seat for 4 people with a semi-transparent acrylic board on one side. There was a couple sitting across from me. The tempura bowl arrived after waiting for 10 minutes. I was surprised by the size. I had a feeling of stomach discomfort as I had heard in reviews... and it came true. It was good that I could eat without waiting in line. I remember reading that they only accept cash, but I was able to pay with paypay.

I arrived at the restaurant around 1:30 pm on a holiday and waited for about an hour and a half before being seated at a counter seat on the first floor. While waiting, I ordered the Edomae Tendon (1,280 yen) and miso soup (120 yen), which were served promptly once I was seated. I managed to finish the meal even though the rice portion was a bit challenging. If I were to go again, I would like to go with someone who can help me eat one shrimp and about half of the conger eel. The pickled burdock was refreshing and a nice touch for changing up the flavors. The black soybean tea served in the restaurant was delicious, and I appreciated the cold tea service while waiting.

Sunday night visit. The line is still very long as usual. I lined up at 5:30 pm and it took 1.5 hours to eat! It's better to be prepared to wait for almost 2 hours. There are many foreigners recently. The menu consists of Edo-style tempura rice bowl and Edo-style tempura rice bowl special only. The regular one does not come with miso soup. I ordered the regular one and the crab miso soup. Although there is an acrylic divider, you still have to share tables. The tempura includes tempura shrimp, shrimp, eel, soft-boiled egg, shishito pepper, and nori, all of which are huge. The sweet sauce is well-coated and delicious. I saved the soft-boiled egg tempura for last and ate it like egg over rice. The eel was too big to finish... I should have ordered less rice. It's delicious and good value for money, but it's a place to go only when you're prepared to wait and have the energy!

Before the school information session, I went to "Nihonbashi Tendon Kaneko Hanosuke Honten". I arrived around 10:02, just missing the Saturday opening time. I lined up at spot number 3 (out of spots 1 to 4). While sitting on the outdoor chairs before entering, I was asked for my order. I ordered the "Edomae Tendon" with less rice. Since it was very hot, I passed on the miso soup. I entered at 10:50 and was seated on the second floor. Each table had a bottle of hot black bean tea, pickled burdock, and pickled Iburigakko. The hot black bean tea was served, and some people who finished eating were drinking the cold tea outside before leaving. The Edomae Tendon was served quickly. It had big conger eel, large shrimp x2, green pepper, seaweed, squid tempura, and half-cooked egg. The volume was amazing for the price of 1280 yen! The shrimp was delicious, but I also like squid, and the squid tempura here was made with plump squid, just the right size and very tasty. The conger eel was soft inside and crispy outside. The seaweed tempura was a first for me. The sweet and salty sauce with seaweed tempura matched well. Mixing the sauce, half-cooked egg, and rice was incredibly delicious. I ordered less rice, so I ended up eating more conger eel tempura at the end, but the pickled burdock and pickled Iburigakko served as a palate cleanser, allowing me to enjoy the meal without feeling heavy. Everything was fried deliciously, and I was impressed. While waiting, I was feeling tired from the heat and was already thinking of getting takeout next time, but I'm glad I tried the freshly made meal. The homemade pickled burdock since the establishment's early days was really to my taste. It would go well with white rice or ochazuke. The payment was done at the table and was cash or PayPay only. Around a little past 4:00 PM. There was no wait outside. The weekends and holidays have incredibly long lines, so if you don't like waiting, weekdays around this time are a good choice. Upon entering, I was guided to the second floor, where the restaurant was almost full. I ordered the Edo-style Tendon for 1280 yen, with a large serving of rice for an additional 120 yen. The prices have gone up since September. They have also added a new menu item, the Edo-style Tendon Special for 2980 yen, which is exclusive to the main store. Before the Tendon arrived, I enjoyed some pickled burdock root with green tea. Here comes the Tendon. The large pieces of conger eel always catch my eye. I also like the aroma of sesame oil. The crispy tempura is soaked in a sweet and savory sauce. The conger eel, two prawns, squid and small fish tempura, green pepper, seaweed, and half-cooked egg are all deliciously crispy. The rice is firm and tasty. With the generous portion of tempura, the large serving of rice balances the meal well. I also bought some tempura flakes as a souvenir. For 120 yen, you get a generous amount with a great aroma. Despite the price increase, the cost performance is still high. They also accept PayPay for payment. Once again, I left the restaurant satisfied and full. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I arrived at the restaurant at 2:00 pm on a regular day. I ordered the Edo-style tempura rice bowl for ¥1,280 and miso soup for ¥120. You can request less rice for free, or opt for a larger portion for an additional ¥110. I waited in line for about 30 minutes, so be prepared for a line during lunchtime. The restaurant has two floors, and this time I was seated at the counter on the first floor. There were also foreign staff members working. On the table, there were pickled ginger and pickled radish, which you can serve yourself in small dishes. The combination of pickled ginger and pickled radish was surprisingly good, and I could eat as much as I wanted. The tempura rice bowl arrived in about 5 minutes, and even with less rice, it was served in a generous portion that looked great for photos. They used a raised bowl for serving. The composition of the dish (clockwise from the back) included conger eel, seaweed, 2 shrimp, half-cooked egg with lion's head, tempura of squid and small dried fish. The sauce was on the sweeter side, and the amount was just enough to maintain the crispy texture of the batter. The batter was crunchy and delicious, but the conger eel was thin, and the shrimp were delicate. Even with less rice, I was satisfied, so it's great value for money. If you want to casually enjoy tempura, this place is a must-visit.

In Nihonbashi, Kinshiro Hanosuke became famous for offering authentic tendon at a reasonable price. Now with branches in various locations, it remains a popular restaurant with long queues. Despite the scorching sun, it was just before 3pm on a weekday and there were about 15 people waiting. I waited for about 30 minutes. Kudos to the security guard managing the line! I ordered the Edomae Tendon with miso soup for 1,330 yen including tax, and a bottle of beer for 660 yen including tax. It felt like the tendon had more volume than before. The two prawns were plump and delicious! Breaking the half-cooked egg tempura and mixing the runny yolk with the rice and sauce was delightful. The combination of beer and tempura was excellent. As expected, Kinshiro Hanosuke is delicious. I will definitely go again!

After 5:30 pm, I waited outside at Mitsukoshi-mae for dinner at Mr. Kaneko Hanzo. I was the only one waiting outside, so I was seated right away. I ordered the Edo-style tendon for 1200 yen, two shishito peppers for 100 yen, and miso soup for 130 yen. I was quickly escorted to the second floor, where they had table seating, which was a first for me. The portion of eel was huge, but the taste was just okay. It was a good value for the price, although I couldn't finish all the eel this time, maybe due to my age. I should have been fine without the eel. I left feeling full. Thank you for the meal!

Despite it being mid-afternoon, the popular restaurant had a long line. The line was rearranged significantly to accommodate neighboring stores. I had to wait in the scorching sun for quite a while due to the long line. I wish they had more chairs or seating available. The menu essentially only offers tempura rice bowls. I added white fish since it wasn't included. Inside the restaurant, there were two floors, and I was seated on the second floor, which was extremely cramped. The tables were small with a small acrylic divider in the middle, making it hard to have a conversation even with just two people. The tempura rice bowl tasted good, but it was heavy on the stomach for someone in their 40s. The rice portion wasn't too big, but the tempura was very heavy. Adding the white fish was unnecessary. Also, they only accept cash, so please be aware of that.

I went prepared to wait in line, but due to the rainy weather, I was able to get a seat in about 30 minutes with only about 20 people ahead of me. The tempura, piled high like a mountain and fried in sesame oil, included two prawns, egg, squid, and conger eel, all very crispy and flavorful. The pickles provided were tangy and helped to cut through any greasiness. The black bean tea served upon seating was also delicious, leaving me very satisfied.

Edomae Tendon for 1200 yen, miso soup for 130 yen. I arrived at 5 pm. There were about 6 groups of customers waiting in line. The waiting time was quite short compared to lunchtime. Near the entrance, the staff asked for our order (there is only one option, Tendon, but they ask if you want any additional items). However, the food is not served immediately after ordering. Instead, they provide black bean tea and self-service pickles while you wait. The Tendon, with a strong sesame oil aroma, is served in a bowl that is overflowing with normal-sized tempura. The bowl is shallow, so there is not much rice. I particularly enjoyed the half-cooked egg tempura and the shishito pepper tempura. It seems you can request to swap the anago tempura for white fish, so I would like to try that next time.

I entered the restaurant around 3pm on a regular day. Even though it was past lunchtime, there was a short line. The Edo-style tempura rice bowl had a generous portion that justified its price, with a crispy batter and rich sauce. I opted for a smaller amount of rice, but still left feeling satisfied. The complimentary smoked pickled radish and crunchy burdock root were delicious accompaniments to the tempura bowl, suitable for both a palate cleanser and a snack to enjoy with drinks.

When you feel like eating tempura rice bowl, this restaurant immediately comes to mind. It's always crowded, whether on weekends, holidays, or weekdays. Despite its generous portion, it's not too heavy, and even women can finish it. The balance between the sauce and rice is perfect, and the tempura is crispy and addictive. The homemade pickled ginger and pickled radish on the side are also delicious and worth trying. Surprisingly, they are complimentary.

At the recommendation of a friend, I went to this restaurant where four of us lined up before eventually being seated. There weren't many options for the tempura bowl, so I ended up adding some toppings. I also ordered miso soup. They served warm black soybean tea with beans floating in it. Of course, they would bring you water if you asked for it. I usually finish my meals, but this time I couldn't. The reason was heavy. Perhaps the oil didn't agree with me, as I felt sick afterwards. Maybe the eel absorbed too much oil. Anyway, I probably won't be coming back here.

The tempura bowl here had 2 prawns, eel, egg, squid, seaweed, and shishito peppers with a sweet sauce. I expected the egg to be slightly runny but it was a bit firm. Overall, I thought it had an average taste. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant 15 minutes before opening on Saturday, and there was already a line of 20-30 people. I waited for about 40 minutes. I ordered the Edo-style tempura bowl and miso soup. On the table, there were dipping sauce, daiginjo (premium sake), and two types of pickles. The tempura bowl had eel, 2 shrimp, egg, seaweed, green pepper, scallop tempura, and it was very filling. The amount of rice was also sufficient. It's a famous restaurant, and the food was delicious with a meticulous finish.

I went before noon on a regular day and there was quite a long line. I was tired of waiting, but when I finally got my tempura bowl, it was incredibly voluminous! The taste of the tempura bowl was so delicious that I thought it was worth the wait from the bottom of my heart. The extra large conger eel, 2 shrimp, and half-cooked egg tempura were so big that they couldn't fit in the photo, and the volume was outstanding. I was impressed. The tempura was crispy, and it paired perfectly with the sauce. I also enjoyed the pickled ginger, burdock, and radish that I could eat as much as I wanted in between bites of the tempura bowl. I ended up eating voraciously because everything was really delicious!!!

It was very delicious, but honestly, it's too cheap. With this many people lining up, I think it's okay to reconsider the balance between the number of customers and the price. The Edo-style tempura bowl is 1,200 yen, but even if it's 1,500 yen, customers would still be satisfied, and if the waiting time decreases, even better. I hope the restaurant can make a solid profit and continue for a long time.
