"Mother Palace [Indian Restaurant near Kichijoji Station] 2022 CURRY No. 38, Meal No. 71, February 22, 2022. Since January 1, 2017, I've had 3,024 curries. ■ Two Curry Set ¥990, Spiciness Level: Hot ▷ Dal Curry ▷ Chicken Curry ▷ Naan & Rice ▷ Salad ▷ Drink: Choose Lassi. Today, I went to the office in the afternoon again. I decided to take the train from Kichijoji and stopped by the Indian town of Kichijoji to eat at this place. From Kichijoji Station, you walk along Sun Road to the area with a large shoe store underground. It's very accessible! I ordered the usual Two Curry Set, which includes Dal Curry and Chicken Curry. I'm not a big fan of this type of set, but most Indian restaurants for Japanese people include both naan and rice in their service. The rice is Japanese rice. If you think going to an Indian restaurant for naan and curry is authentic (it's a funny story), you're mistaken. Most Indians don't eat naan, and no one there eats Japanese rice. On top of that, they serve a salad with raw vegetables, but almost no one in India eats raw vegetable salads. When you think about it, they are providing this service for us Japanese, following the old saying 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do.' (Imagine opening a sushi restaurant in India and serving Indian rice instead of sushi rice, and offering Dal Curry or Rasam instead of miso soup for people who can't eat fish. It's something like that.) Now, the Two Curry Set has arrived. It's a standard and substantial meal. Nothing extraordinary, but no complaints. Both Dal Curry and Chicken Curry are standard, just like the Indian restaurants in Kichijoji, but they are delicious enough. I filled up my stomach before my afternoon work and got on the train in a good mood. All's well that ends well."
