【2022 Top 100 Restaurants】 I finally managed to visit "Sushi Aoi," the new addition in Omotesando, which is an offspring of Sukiyabashi Jiro. It's quite challenging to get a reservation here. The restaurant is located just a few minutes' walk from the station, on the 2nd floor of a modern building. The logo of the restaurant has also gained attention, with only ▲● written on the signboard, which might be easily overlooked if you don't know about it. The name "Aoi" is inspired by the blue of the sea, sky, and Aoyama. Chef Ryo Okazaki, who has been the most trusted disciple of Sukiyabashi Jiro for the past 15 years, is at the helm, so there are high expectations for the future.
Lunch Nigiri Course: ¥28,600 + Sake: ¥3,4600 (Lunch only)
The lunch course consists of Nigiri sushi, similar to Sukiyabashi Jiro. The menu includes:

Sushi Aoi, like Sushi Masuda nearby, shares a similar elegant ambiance, as both are disciples of Jiro. The shari (sushi rice) features a traditional strong vinegar flavor, with slightly firm texture and initially a bit more vinegar in the rice, just like Jiro's style. The restaurant celebrated its 3rd anniversary last month, and today I dined with the president of a fish wholesaler. They use Yano-kura rice, which has a unique texture, with a certain stickiness but easily falls apart.
